Extend olive branch to defectors, MMD NEC urged

Share

The MMD in Kafue has called on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to extend an olive branch to members who defected to other political parties as differences always arise during elections.

MMD Constituency information and Publicity secretary Isaac Mulenga told ZANIS in Kafue Thursday that it will be unhealthy for the ruling party to demonize members who defected to the opposition but should instead work on reconciling with such members.

He said as the party prepares itself for the 2011 elections, there is need to refocus on what the part will offer to the public and members so that its popularity is regained.

Mr. Mulenga said whilst the action by some members were regrettable, it was time the MMD scrutinized who genuine members are and those who just want to gain from it.

He said members should realize that the party can only become stronger and popular if they remain patriotic and united.

And Mr. Mulenga has appealed to president Rupiah Banda to ensure that he fulfils all the promises he made during the campaign to the people of Kafue.

He said the party will remain strong if promises made are fulfilled as the electorate will have confidence in its leadership.

Mr. Mulenga also said it was important the party revisits issues the opposition was promising the electorate in urban areas and those places the opposition won so that the party can do something about them.

He said the MMD should not take for granted the rural stronghold support it has if nothing is done tangible in the next three years as the opposition will also penetrate them.

Nice data, but a wind of real change that we all Zambians can trust and believe in has to come in place in 2011. Viva president Hakainde Hichilema for economic emancipation.

FTJ survives blows from pf cadres as his assistant gets punched

In a dramatic turn of events embattled Second republican president Dr. Fredrick Chiluba has survived blows from angry Patriotic Front cadres, accusing him of having played a part in rigging the just ended presidential elections.

In the fracas, punches directed at Dr Chiluba landed on Dr. Chiluba’s press aide, Emmanuel Mwamba as he tried to shield his boss from instant justice mob.

The incident happened at Lusaka’s cathedral of the holy cross where Dr. Chiluba had gone to attend the Church Service and body viewing for the late veteran politician Elijah Mudenda.

If you cross over at a time that the other party looks to be on top you have your own selfish reason, you can reconcile but that shouldnt automatically mean a ministirial position, what guarantee is there that when things go bad next elextions you wont jump ship again???? Democrancy should also descourge political prostitution because this means individuals are not being democratic

  26. Patriotic Front cadres invaded the Post premises yesterday as they protested against a story published by the Post in which they reported that Levy Mwanawasa was headed for victory. The protesters were incensed by the fact that this story was published before the Electoral Commission of Zambia had finished announcing their results. Never mind that when the Daily Mail reported just the day before that Patriotic Front was leading, no one protested in spite of the fact that ECZ had not even started announcing any results. The Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Mail was the first one to defy this decree (of avoiding all speculation or publication of unofficial results) from the ECZ

  27. Can you all do some research instead of showing the whole world that Zambians of … origin are a serious let down to Zambia and Africa.

  28. I apologise for my indescretions @ no.40. U cant criticise MMD all the time for wooing investors. Due to globalisation its pertinent that our economy is boosted by Foreign Direct Investment because there are only a handful of zambians with such capacity and guess what? they too would have to bring in Foreigners to help foot their liabilities. Development in a 3rd world country will never be easy, especially if u have Multi National Corporations (MNC’s) whose Revenue is three-fold higher than their GDP. The problems we face shud not only be attributed to MMD but look back some 45 years ago to the lancaster agreements which were signed in exchange for our independence.

  29. There is no substance in this news ba LT. thats why bloggers toady are just insulting each other like cadres.

  33. After independence we had 45yrs to redeem the country but instead of seeing light at the end of the tunnel, we have gone deeper into debt and further from the light.

Correct me if Im wrong, Our new president was around during the first 15 years after independence among the young vibrant graduates in government. Was there any feasible plan on redeeming the country or any evidence of investment in the future of this country on a 45 yrs projection scale to be proud of??? I dont think so. Every body in government was enjoying the imperialist riches/infrastructure and went on french leave and Zambian leadership has since not returned.

  34. The current electro system is prone to abuse by those with means. Maybe Zambia should just accord point to a winner of each province “like US”. That way there will be no shockers at last minute as seen in zambian elections. One can trail behind in all provinces and suddenly inflated results can make him/her win. Winning by counting points gained from each province will make it too difficult to rig because you have to rig all provinces. Even Miyanda could have won if he decided to inflate his results from Ngwerere. The so called “Chiluba trick” is to wait until results are released in crucial centres, then unleash your inflated results. No one can catch up. Did the old Frog stand?

With the country’s leadership,on french leave for 45 yrs, Its up to us to face the leadership with well researched long term developmental plans and implementation processes, that will be at their disposal for monitoring and controlling to ensure that the nextgeneration of Zambians are fully empowered with knowledge, technical knowhow, support mechanisms and viable processes to overcome varying challenges, ranging from economic, environmental, social and political spheres. 40. ON PAPER, Levy Mwanawasa should never have been president. He lacked charisma, wit or style—the sort of qualities that propel populists to high office in much of Africa. At rallies even his own supporters were fast bored by the former lawyer’s monotone drawl. His ill-health and slurred speech, the results of a car crash, led to nasty jibes about his mental capacity. When he narrowly won his first, disputed, presidential election in 2001, opponents dubbed him “the cabbage”, deriding him as a stooge for others more powerful.

But Mr Mwanawasa, who died this week in France after suffering in June the latest of several strokes, deserves to be remembered more fondly than the showmen who have b

  41. have beggared much of the continent. In the past seven years he made a serious effort to clean up Zambia’s pervasive corruption. At some political risk, he turned against his predecessor and one-time patron, the diminutive Frederick Chiluba, who was charged with 168 counts of theft. Mr Chiluba was convicted of graft in a civil court in London last year. It was a rare success: few African leaders have been held to such account.Partly because of his anti-corruption drive, investors liked President Mwanawasa. In the past few years, capital has poured in. Zambia’s mineral-rich economy, like others in Africa, has soared and crashed according to the vagaries of world commodity prices. But its r

  42. ecent growth, at a perky 6% or so a year, driven by copper exports, has at least been married to decent policies that kept inflation lowish and helped spread some benefits to the poor. The economy was lifted, too, by tourists and white farmers diverted from Zimbabwe. Thanks to liberalisation and his own stolid efforts, Mr Mwanawasa got unusually large dollops of aid and debt relief.

In 1991 Zambia was among the first in Africa to bring back multiparty elections; it peacefully ditched its liberation leader, Kenneth Kaunda, after nearly three decades. That generally gracious transition (Mr Kaunda was later accused of skulduggery) was followed by Mr Chiluba’s decision to step down reluctant

  43. reluctantly in 2002 after the two terms limited by the constitution.

Zambia’s plodding progress could hardly be in greater contrast to the mess next door in Zimbabwe—once Southern Rhodesia to Zambia’s Northern Rhodesia. In the old days, Zambians flocked to Zimbabwe to seek work; now it is vice versa. Robert Mugabe, reliant on his army’s muscle, seems bent on staying on, having smashed his economy. He returned himself to office in June after a violent one-man run-off election. Though he has been holding power-sharing talks with the opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, who won the first round of the presidential poll in March, he is loth to lose executive power.

  44. Zimbabwe’s crisis may well have been resolved by now if regional leaders had dared to stand up together against the repressive Mr Mugabe. On August 16th, at an annual meeting in Johannesburg of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the 14-country club’s leaders, most of whom also head liberation-movements-turned-ruling-parties, muted their public disquiet at the presence of the 84-year-old despot.

An exception was Botswana’s new president, Ian Khama, who boycotted the event. Mr Mwanawasa, aged 59, was also a rare voice among Africa’s leaders who damned Mr Mugabe’s misrule. Last year he likened Zimbabwe to a “sinking Titanic” and called for the region to demand a change of co

  45. change of course. Had he been well, he would have sought to toughen SADC’s stance against Mr Mugabe. Mr Tsvangirai was among the first publicly to lament the Zambian leader’s death.

  46. CHINA QUESTION
A new leader, possibly the vice-president, Rupiah Banda, should be elected within 90 days. Afro-optimists hope that Zambia, certainly not Zimbabwe, proves to be a bellwether for the continent. In one respect it is. Though not an oil-producer, Zambia is one of Africa’s biggest recipients of Chinese investment, as the resource-hungry Asian giant pours capital into mining and agriculture. China’s president, Hu Jintao, inaugurated a massive mining-investment zone in the north of Zambia last year. However, among ordinary Zambians anti-Chinese feeling has been growing.

  47. Mr Mwanawasa crowed last year that Zambia, and Africa as a whole, was increasingly taking advantage of Asian interest and investment and called on the West to match it. Seven years of Mr Mwanawasa’s rule has seen some change for the better in Zambia. It is remarkable what a dull diet of cabbage can do.

  48. PF cardres wanted to beat up Chiluba, who was rescued by his aid, Mr Mwamba by receiving the punches in instead. I want to know whether fighting is part of PF policies, because even within their own party they are always fighting. Does it mean that this spirit is a result of their leader Mr SATA, who one of their MPs Fostina Sinyangwe calls a dictator? Please someone from PF to help me understand more on this matter.

  49. PF is a party full of confused characters. I can hardly believe that a sensible person can choose to be part of this Party. The fact that they have a following in urban areas is even more difficult to understand. The urban society idealy comprises a sizable number of the enlightened and it is so paradoxical that the urban population supports a person like sata. Sata to them represents a hope of economic emancipation by his ‘work atitude’ so it is perceived. It is hardly conceivable in my mind that sata can be that saviour. He will simply never be President of Zambia.

  50. Choma 1, I agree with you when you say UPND find another leader, HH is so full of himself and this country does not need that at the moment, he needs a change of attitude. PF please hold a convention ASAP so we can look to the future if there will be any left. If MMD is to be voted out in 2011, we are going to need a Zambia that is going stand as one.

  51. On second thoughts, the Kaponyas are mostly found in urban areas and PF thrives on that. Very understandable that PF should have their support in urban areas. Sata himself is a Typical Kaponya.

  52. Taata # 36, you are right, we need sensible bloggers on LT otherwise it won’t do us any good if certain tribes all they do is insult. This is supposed to be an Informative, Educative & Entertaining forum. Imagine my 12 years Daughter telling me a few days ago that her Teachers at School where talking about LT, the next thing she will be on this site and find it full of insults. Please my Brothers and Sisters let’s have this forum obscene free. What wrong has Ba FTJ done to deserve such unruly behaviour from you know whose cadres are?

  53. We are here again, yet I still see narrow minds calling PF all sorts of things, anyway we can not blame you…

  54. Oh and Annonymous! people are just fed up with the inertia of the MMD, how many years has it been? and what have they to show for? It’s life and some things just have to change and it’s healthy for our democracy and development.

  55. I had a conversation the other day with a kaponya who visited my village. I ended up trying to convince him to relocate to the village and start up farming. You know what he said. He said ” I am not given to that kind of living as my life is much better in town were I can scrounge my way out.” This so typical and so the lazy ones go to town despite not having employment opportunities there. Sata comes in and promises them instant jobs and they get into the imaginary boat. Lazy bones never want to earn their living through sweat but instanteniously. I figured that even if I volunteered to give 10 heards of cattle, he would eat them at 1 beast per week. The cattle will be instant meals.

If you have even a slight knowledge of national building (not that I mean that you are ignorant) you will agree that for Zambia to develop, we dont need one persons effort. The dynamics at play are such that no matter how well meaning sata could be, it is 100% clear that he would not achieve anything. Infact we would be worse off as a nation as he had promised to undo economic gains that we as a nation have so far achieved. If you followed his promises, you would easily agree with me that they were simply unachievable. We have more hope with our status quo than what was to follow with sata’s regime. It would be intersesting to realically debate some of these issues but ..

Kaponyas cannot go to the villages because they have an important role to play in our society.Infact Kaponyas are everywhere under the sun and only the levels at which they operate seem to be different . Provide them with an enabling enviroment so that you get to respect they deserve.
If you at Kaponyas to be lazy people ,its actually very unfortunate and you may soon find yourself worse than these persons.

  58. For Zambia to develop, a spirit of self reliance must be inculcated into our citizens. The few people that pay tax bear the burden of the whole nation when it comes to service delivery and ultimately stagnation of the whole economy. The villager on the other hand feels no direct impact when for instance, bank interest rates are hiked. The villagers knows well that if he does not cultivate his crops, he will starve. He does not have the luxury of waiting upon handouts as town dwellers. How do town dwellers survive when they have no employment? Hand outs! And yet telling an average unemployed youth to go to the village is an insult to him. There lies the problem. He would rather scrounge for h

  59. Annonymous I agree with some points you have raised, but are you saying, realistically that all or most of those people who voted for PF are illiterates (uneducated)? I saw one thing, and it is that people want change from the way they voted, whether PF or UPND, the majority was opposition. And what do you think of the accusations or irregularities that the ECZ has so far choosen to ignore? Does’nt that ring a bell?

  60. 79

The question I ask you is this: Why is it that most people flock to towns even when opportunities are thier in the villages to farm?

  61. Some of those so called Kaponya’s are in actual fact very industrous persons who add value to society, just take a look at those that push those abnormal load wheelbarrows, that is someone earning an honest living.

  62. #81

You are talking about allegations as though they are facts. The observers declared the elections free and faif and you are still saying elections were rigged. I wouldrather channel the grievances through the due process that make a blanket statement and claim rigging. It is your word against mine. What options do you have.

  63. #83

I have no problems with industrious people. The thug I have a serious problem with. The type that hoodwink the helpless for their own gain. I have A serious problem with that type. There are a lot of well meaning jobless people that fill our streets at no fault of their own. But to say that all people in town without a job have no option is just as criminal as to say africans dont think.

  64. Answer to Question Annonymous. KK is the one that first set this legacy, He first started by nationalising most of the companies, MILLING Co. included, E.C Milling is an example now known as TIGER FEEDS, then went on to give coupons for free M/Meal all at the expense of the farmer in the village, there was free M/Meal in town or urban areas while the farmer had to braek his back to etch out a living, what would you do? and so the farmer abandons his field, why break my back if I can get for free. and so most people moved to town and tha is how some of these shanty’s came up. The rural areas have not been developed, the roads are very bad, no electricity, imputs are expensive. eg. Fertilizer

I think it shouldnt take you to do post graduate Globalisation course to understand the basic migration factors behind the trend. This is everywhere and it is one of the reasons you have left zed.Migration is a natural ingriedient of a developmental state, look at LSK and CB is made up of mainly familities without any traceble roots in the provinces.
I strongly doubt your concievements of societal norms and value regarding humanity.

You make me proud to be associated with your kind, Ifamano ubwingi!!!Now that what i call reasoning unfortunately we are referred to us Ba kaponya …

The problems we have are partly to do with the way infrasture is distributed. We have insufficient road networks and as such access to markets for goods produced in the rural areas is very difficult. I dont hide that we have a huge task before us. The problem I have is choosing to pretend that this country can be turned around by a person like sata who promises unachievable goals. For me that is very cardinal. The fact that GRZ has failed to deliver, does not mean that sata can bring miracles. I have no prblems with people like HH except for his tribal tag. The sata approach is the most myopic approach of all the options we had. Sata thrives on the ignorance of the masses and charisma

  69. I acknowledge that MMD has problems and yet to choose to change towards SATA would have been a waste thing to do. The call for change will be realistic with a credible candidate. The purpose of change should be meaningful progress and to simply think that sata is meaningful change is simply to be highly delusional. BTW I am very much in Zambia. Dont be misled by the flag. I believe most Zambians INCLUDING rural dwellers are calling for change, but change for the better. Sata is definitely not representative of that meaningful change. No one knows his policies. In desperation, people who support him point to such trivial things like ‘provided nurses uniforms’ blah blah

Such is the Salutation of the Dawn!

  71. #93 et al – I really like the way you are discussing from both sides. I wish people would delve in discussions like that. Maturely.

May I add that one reason we seem to be blaming everybody and not ‘seeing’ any development is that we have always expected a single button presido. We expect a presido who will come in and in “90 days” or less, put up cabinet, do the roads, provide medicines in hospitals, build bridges, etc.
We always ignore that all these take time to mplement. To build a road requires planning, budgeting, funding, control, audit, authorisations etc.

  72. One day and I mean it…I the Spectator being of sober mind and understanding has hope that one Zambia will see the good of this land and will enjoy the fruit there in…

One day PF will rule this country and lead us to the attainment of total Independence!!!

    ARISE UBWATO!!!!

  73. The basis for supporting sata despite his bad, very bad record is just difficult to understand. The problem is that PF supporters think that change for the sake of change makes sence. No way. Try to change if the prospects are good. Not when the prospects are bad. A ‘third term’ advocate is not good prospect. One who openly planned to chase your only invested is no good prospect. The one who has no economics knowledge and diplomacy is no good prospect. I can go on and on to make you see sense but you will not agree. Why? Probably because of some hidden ties.

  74. Guys, lets just say the Govt. has not made it attractive for people to stay in the rural areas, we have just heard how people are starving in the Gwembe vally and most of these rural areas, while me and you here in town can atleast get a bag of Breakfast mealie Meal at K50,000 from shoprite these people cannot even afford a K5,000. lets be realistic. where does that type of person start from?

  75. *78 U ARE SPOT ON.SATA’S RHETORIC IS SUGAR COATED BUT SIMPLY NOT WORKABLE(IN SHORT BUFI).SURPRISINGLY THE PEOPLE THAT NEED ECONOMIC FREEDOM ARE THE ONES SUPPORTING HIS TRASH.

  76. 97 Cont…
All these projects take time. No matter how much money is allocated. Take for instance power. To set up a sizeable power station takes about 5 years, with all things available from conception of the idea to handover. This is an ideal scenario. Doing a road from Chipata to Isoka thru Muyombe, 2 years etc.
So while we blame our political leaders for not having done or that, let us factor in the time. I accept blaming politicians when they do not have political will over something. When they do not put up a plan. Or when their plan is bad and does not make sence.

  77. #97

That is the problem right there, you have been expecting the president to do all those things in 90 days…and am quite positive you are referring the catchy phrase in PF…FYI, 90 days does not mean new, Roads, provide medicines in hospitals, build bridges, etc. It is basically a period you tangeable change is suppose to be surfacing… Atleast within the 90 days period you will see efforts to reaching what you mentioned…working plans, budgeting and so on and so forth…

  78. Within 90 days change must be seen to be taking place…this period facilitates the overall change in the economy and governance…

  79. *98 SPECTATOR NICE TO HEAR U AGAIN ON LT!! AT LEAST U HAVE WIPED YOUR TEARS AWAY AND GOTTEN OVER YOUR LOSS.PLEASE CAN U PUMP SOME OF THAT SENSE IN YOUR PRESIDO AND COLLEAGUES- THEY ARE STILL WAILING AND WE CAN’T WORK PROPERLY WITH THEIR NOISE AROUND.

You inclination to support sata whilst hiding behind the belief that you are the best judge of societal norms does not hide the fact that you ignore very real faults and failures in your hero SATA. You try to make yourself believe that the disadvantaged and helpless in our society are behind you and yet you ignore that the common man made a choice in these eletions. The common man in this case is trully represented by the humble villager whose choice you must accept. Talk about having the idealistic societal norms yet here you are disputing the common mans choice.

  81. #105 ICEBERG

Ask the ‘spectator’ and he will hide the fact that he at times disguises as the insolent ‘shetani’!

  82. Sata or Gen Miyanda is capable of making structural changes to running of the affairs in our country. I understand we are jst too poor and our lives are chracterised by insecurity. I dont think RB will be able to pick up a pen and draft something to benefit the zambians, will entirely be depend on certain individuals within a seemigly weak MMD Camp. How do we trust people surrounding him, Teta, Mulongoti, Katele, VJ, Mpombo, all these are poverty deriven politicians with no clear moral values and completely lacks social capital to trust them.

  83. We need a change of vision, MMD has had theirs and we have seen where they have led us, not everything that MMD has done is bad they have brought some positive changes, we need some other Govt. to take over from there. PF or UPND, we are not calling on an individual but people who will be chosen by the people to work for the people.

  84. Anonymous #93; you say you have no problem with HH except for his tribal tag. If you see that tribal tag then you are tribal yourself. Otherwise if you were not tribal you would not see any tag. And if there many more of your sight then Zed has a big problem.

  85. PF promises a sound governance, that will take a step further, as a subset of governance
wherein public resources and problems are managed efficiently and in

Moreover public accountability that covers a spectrum of approaches and practices used by governments to ensure that activities and output meet intended goals and standards. While realization of the government’s goals and objectives is a subject of complex and long-standing…

What has bewitched you PF people to think that Sata is positive change? Can you try to answer some of the issues I have raised about why I believe sata is not positive change.

  87. #103 – Thank you. What u say has been achieved in MMD. There is tangible evidence that there is political will to do many of these things. You can see in certain parameters (numbers) that economists and anybody looking for evidence use to measure change. The first is inflation. I know it is going up right now but at least the country’s performance is now being measured. 2. The exchange rate. Kwacha’s value is real now. 3. Increased construction activity. 4. Roads – theres a plan and roads are being mended. 5. Hospitals – I admit, I have a pain here too but the policy of introducing private clinics etc has alleviated the problem. I cant exhaust the list here and now but I hope u c the point

  88. #113 cont..
Not even Sata nor HH nor RBB nor anyone else for that matter would bring development at a pace ordinary Zambians are expecting it. The worst thing about Sata is that he is promising it and somehow people are believing it.
To a great extent, bcoz pipo want to believe Sata, they are now worshiping him like a cult leader. Refusing to listen to opposing view points and on top of that ‘punishing or ostracising’ the opposition. I dont mind supporting PF as a party but I should support it bcoz I choose to not bcoz I believe in Sata at the pace most cadres are doing.

  89. …debate, financial accountability presents which an urgent challenge that requires an immediate and practical solution, especially given the rising concern for transparency and responsible governance. The perceived absence of integrity in the MMD government severely weakens the credibility of democratic institutions. Improving integrity, or developing and implementing strategies for the prevention or control of corruption, is an integral part of ensuring accountability. A person or a Party that presents issue like this before you is one we should embrace gladly…

    VIVA PF!

The common man choice is very questionable ,looking at the manner in which elections where conducted in our country .Having some constitutencies voting a day after the elections can only be explained to the advantage of RB. The democracy that we have right now is very dengerious to the development of our nation, its like an Indian democratic system .It is a clientelistic type of democracy depending the dirty formulae of individuals in exchange for resources anmd favours. If the same electral laws will applly, then we are likely to be ruled by a minority power hungery leaders with litle know knowledge about macro and micro economics of country.

  91. #109

I thought we had a nice thread going. You have started stating your opinions as though they were facts, your failed wishes should not be stuffed down our throats. The people voted and chose RB. Choice and pf peoples choice did not make it. Rigging? No way, ask the silent and quiet villager who fortunately in this case make about 60% of our poupulation, they chose RB.

  92. 105. ICEBERG..

Good to hear from you too, yesterday was a bit hectic, I could not find myself on any f LT’s comment threads!!! Otherwise the boat is very much alive…as for the noises we all have different healing tendencies…

  93. 107. Anonymous.

You are at it again! with respect due, that is one subject I would not wish to delve into…withstanding the wise and mature comments flowing through!!!How are you though?!

  94. I asked a question earlier:
Why is it that PF is always fighting within and without, intra and inter; why? Can PF manage to run our country if we entrusted them with the task amidst their squablous tendencies, fighting, fighting and fighting..?

  95. #108 – I dont understand you… How do you believe things without proof? VJ, Katele yes, but pliz tell me about what Teta, Mulongoti and Mpombo have done criminally. I dont mean that they are clean but at least show me a court case against them.
#111 -Spectator. You amaze me. You have this utopic thinking you are assuming every wrong you see and/or perceive in MMD, Sata is simply the opposit. Yet you refuse to look at Sata’s behaviour and history to justfy your ascertions. Your ideal situation is what every Zambian wants to see. To assume that will come with Sata is obscene at best. Sata was there, we know his performance or lack of it, we know his behaviour and it is bad. Like it or not.

  96. #118

Dont try to twist events to suit you wishes. I have noticed that PF people have problems with facing reality. I would rather that you deal with facts on the ground. Sata despite not being my favourite would have easily won the elections had he teamed up with HH. Simple fact. Nothing like rigging or whatever else. But being who he is he squandered the chance. Simple and straight forward logic. Look Mr. sir, advise your man to at leasthide his ‘power hungry’ and selfish traits.

  97. I do not understand the so called olive branch extension. Let us not worry about defections, we must worry about results from the people in government. We must flood the blog with issues that affect us in our daily lives. Those who defected to whichever camp had their own reasons and know where they can contribute best. Put on your thinking caps and submit real issues we can discuss i.e roles of town clerks and district commmissioners. I believe these people are responsible for bring services to our communities i.e clean water and fight for better medical facilities.

  98. Now the Day light corruption we have witnessed in MMD in the just ended campaign and Electoral process, a thoughtless misuse of scarce
resources that greatly affects the entire economy. Particularly in areas supported by external assistance, can and will devalue the reputation and efforts of international development agencies.

As For the BOAT Live and Paddling!!!

  99. PF do not worship Sata , they are loyal to the party leadership jst like any other party enjoying a good popularity. We understand Sata was not going to develop Zed but would have made sriking achievements for everyone to see. If I can just remind you of his past achievements in Ministry of health and ministry of Local government. Look at the houses in Chirenje,Avondale, Emasdale bridges in lsk city and many other buildings accross the country. He changed Ministry of health within 3 weeks for everyone to see, clinics were clean and people accesing drugs. Surely, he was the best candidate to stimulate the much needed growth for the nations prosperity.

  100. Spectator u amaze me. Reality check – RB was voted for within MMD b4 he was chosen to stand for presido. Democracy. You ask about Magande- yes, there is competition in democracy. Losers and winers. On the contrary, how did PF members acquire their positions in the party? Who voted Sata to be PF president? And Guy Scott? Which other positions have office bearers in PF? Or do we even have positions? Did the party PF prepare, discuss, vote for and adopt their manifesto? These are the simplest signs one can use to determine democracy. Alas! they are not practiced in PF. Historically, senior PF members, with the exception of Given Lubinda, have all got dented records of faithfulness.

  101. 128. Sata’s 3rd Wife

Interesting, well I can’t stomach the issue of Democracy in MMD, if you call bribing members of the NEC so as to endorsed democracy, then PF has a leaf to pick from that!!!

Well i don’t want to assume you have not been following events as they have unfolding after the death of LPM-Rest Him in Peace Lord- Every Political party in the Zed was busy preparing and focusing their efforts on 2011, no one anticipated the just ended polls…In PF we were already preparing for a convention were we were going to vote for our candidate to represent us for the 2011 also to fine tune certain internal positions….

  102. *116 SPECTATOR.YOU TALK ABOUT RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY !HOW ABOUT THE MMD’S 2000 CONVENTION WHERE (HONOURABLE THEN)SATA WAS PERSONALLY INVOLVED IN DISHING OUT MONEY AND MATTRESSES DO YOU HAVE A REPORT ON THAT?THAT IS THE TRUE SATA ONCE HE SEES AN OPPORTUNITY.
EXAMPLES ARE ENDLESS WITH FACTS BWANA WE KNOW THE MAN-PERIOD

  103. It is a pitty that our eyes do see the same things and give us the same sight, but when it comes to forsight we are so divergent. This is why some people think Miyanda is the man who can do good for this country. Others think, the best is HH yet others still feel Sata is the man, and others say RB is the man. In my view while SATA would have done a number of things, many would have bad ones.

  104. The problem with some PF supporters is that they do not want to here anything negative about their leader, even wen they r had facts. They also dont seem 2 hav a good reason 4 supporting him excpt for vague excuses like the “the need 4 change,he is a man of actions, etc” Come on guys hw was this man going 2 stop power blackouts,hw was he going 2 bring so much change in 90 days? Kindly speak 4 him on the 3rd term he adamantly defended, his thuggary behaviour and the fact that he is all the time being misunderstood.

  105. #127

Unfortunately there is not proof you can give for sata achievement as President. He at best a good foreman. You forgot to include his famous provinsion of nurses uniforms. What you outline as achievements is in the context of his roles in the vavarious potfolios he held through government initiatives. As to whether I would regard them as achievements is another issue altogether. The guy has no respect for others and H could have easily ‘achieved those things wholly because of this. It almost seems that this is the trait that PF suppoters admire in him and the reason they think he would achieve wonders. If that is the case, you have just underestimated the capabillities of intellect

  106. Spectator
Change is coming to Zambia , Insiders PF from Lusaka, Central and CB are working out new strategigies that expose all the dirty tricks of MMD.
    Yes we can

  107. 129 Cont’s….

When we heard of the death of the President, we had to make a decision on who should represent the Party. UPND did not go for a convention but the internal organs within the party thought it astute to adopt HH, since he was the one who lead them in 2006, the same was the case for PF…we had no time to convene and bring a new person to the political battle field, therefore, we settled for the person already known and that was done by the parties internal organ…

  108. I appreciate the failure in MMD esp in the way they carried out this election. But, MMD’s failure does not make PF’s the righteousness. We have to judge PF on its own. We have to judge UPND on its own.
Sata used to smoke. It does not follow that all PF cadres smoke. (Or does it?). I am not protecting MMD. I want to ask u to hammer MMD on its own merit or demerit. Then apply the same rules to PF. Then to UPND and then to Heritage, if u can find time.
MMD will remain in power for as long as the opposition’s motive remains to dislodge it. I would like to see a party that has a plan of its own, not bcos MMD failed but bcoz they (the opposition) feel they can run the country and have proof.

  109. #134

Do you have any hopes of fielding someone else other than Sata in the next elections. Your honest opinion. Prove it that you dont hero worship Sata.

  110. Sata’s 3rd Wife.

Watch this space then…One thing I am finding a bit irresponsible with most bloggers, is that when they hear us say we are for PF, they are only till Sata’s time. we are PF with or without Sata!!!we will support any candidate who comes on board as PF as President as long as they do so on merit.

  111. Change you can but no change but sata. Typical PF. You want change but the same man standing. You amaze me by your abillity to innovate parodoxical situations and opinion. What change when it will be sata still. Your change remains the same. Twisting and self defeating statement yet appliable, understandable and acceptable to PF. CHANGE REMAINS THE SAME! WOW

  112. Anonymous
Its great you have acknowledged his achievements but unclearly you complicate with other exogenious and endogenous variables that are always present when formulating and implementing policies effectively.I woudnt mind to have dictator in Zambia who would guide the country into the right development path than having clientelistic democrats only intereted in consuming our scarse resources. The best example is is the asian miracle of South Korea ,the millitary regime of Park compressed the industrial transformation within 3 years of his surpation to power.

  113. #138 we will put SATA as our president for as long as it takes na ngu nabakwata 105 years ni viva SATA NA PABWATOO 1 THING i know is that the man will be president at one time

  114. well well well i honestly dont know what to do to my brothers and sisters in the village(western prov)cause i hate them thats why they are in the village cause they cant even make good decisions.they shoudnt come to my place cause i will throw my anger on them, honestly am very angry with them

  115. #135. Thank you, that is very true. This election alone may not give us the correct picture of each party’s position in that light. I would like to give PF benefit of doubt. I will leave this point for 2011. I hope we can pick up this point then. However, history does not seem to potray your viewpoint. 2001, 2006 … what happened here?I want to believe that that is why we cannot use it to label RBB as a failure even b4 he pick up the mantle properly. Shall history judge him. So far, his history is only assumption and supposition. Yes, dirty tricks K20pin in 19 penda ifikondo, supposed K15pm brown envelopes to failed politicians. But yes. But look at this K20Billion, mattreses, pangas etc…

Ask the ‘rebels’ they know more about that issue than me. I like #144 honesty, he will vote for sata even when sata refuses to stand.

  117. 139.The Spectator. I’ll tell u one thing most PF supporters are PF supporters not because they believ in its policies o becoz they like its manifesto, but becoz they believ in Sata.Equally any MP u wud put in Sata’s strongholds wil win not coz they believ in the Mp but because he/she is standing on Sata’s PF.Simply put Sata is PF and i cannot see PF commanding the same kind of following without Sata being actively involved.

  118. Unit in government is key to service delivery. Tendency of PF of always fighting is a very big discouragement to some of us from voting for PF. We believe that if PF continues to move at this pace they would end up bring the government into fighting and squables. This would be a big discouragement to investment and economic development. I see PF to be a danger if their fighting and squabling as a way of life as a party continues.

  119. #144 Die Hard PF.. I like that stance. You support the party and Sata for heck of it. It’s good.
What is bad is protraying Sata as though is the most righteous guy and PF the altimate solution for Zambia. That is wrong.
Non PF supporters mostly ague on this point bcoz the ascertions don’t tally with history and facts.

  120. Here you have it people, Luapula Fish, in black and white has admitted to AND advocated for dictatorship. No wonder you support Sata. The end justifies the means eh.

  121. You know what people for its worth any way, people join Parties (political) with divergent views, there are those that have joined PF because its Sata in the driving seat and there are those of us who joined because of the relateable policies…which I think at any given point on LT’s different threads i have tackled truthfully…

  122. Luapula Fish

You have broken down and spewed what is in your heart. What the hearts is the mouth speaketh. Zambian situation and arrangement (democratic governance) precludes and excludes dictatorship.

  123. america need change, zambia too need very big change sata is the only capable man to clean our country no wonder he is called man of action come next elctions nipabwatooooooo

  124. Unfortunately for those who do not want to hear it, PF is the only way forward. PF is growing very fast in and outside Zambia while RB is sleeping in office.

Sata is not a dictator , but he understands how to use embedded state autonomy to foster economic development. Even the USA, England ,Japan and many other countries applied different state instruments to successfully implement national policies, this allowed their smooth industrial transition .Always understand the difference between the state and the government.

  126. #157

Sorry, I am not insulting you, but you say PF is growing?!! It just lost the elections! Try to comfort yourself in another way.

  127. Police Open Docket for SATA,so says the Daily Mail front page 7/11/08.But when are the police going to nab those who damaged
    Mr Chumbwe’s property?

  128. #152. Sata’s 3rd Wife,
I agree with you totally. PF is putting like SATA will bring miracle to this country when in fact he was in government for 10 years.
SATA was very satisfied with what happened in the 10 years he was in power with Chiluba. Not only that, but he was also happy with Chiluba’s leadership, and that is why he wanted him to continue ruling. He faught for Chiluba’s third term to the very bitter end, because he was impressed with Chiluba’s achievements. Now if that is the change PF is promissing, I dont want change.

  129. HH is 2 selfish no wonder he will never be president by the way upnd is dropping in terms of numbers, and PF is growing in terms of numbers thumbs up MR SATA FOR PUTTING UP A GOOD FIGHT ITS NO EASY TO SHAKE THE RULLING PARTY BUT YOU DID JUST THAT ITS VERY SOON 2011 NI PABWATOOOOOO

  130. 154. Dont u think the person driving those policies is equally an important factor 2 consider. If u hav Mr Sata in the driving sit for example he would simply tell u that u misunderstood the PF policies.Besides the man does not seem 2 believ in anything coz one minute he wil say this the next minute he will be saying somthing contrary.

  131. Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them. I am so Grate full to people like, 151. Fine!, 153. Anonymous, 152. Sata’s 3rd Wife, 130. ICEBERG,132. Was someone else writing for you when you say ‘ I woudnt mind to have dictator in Zambia who would guide the country into the right development path’- refer to #142

You now say ‘Sata is not a dictator’

You advocate for dictatorship and yet still believe that your hero is not a ‘Dictator’

  133. #157 – No matter how PF grows, it being the best party is a pipedream. There is simply NO best party. There is only a workable party. A party that has principles and a vision that can drive Zambia forward. And this cannot be achieved by one man in 90 days or even his presidency life time (5 or 10 years). PF ain’t it.
List for me an ideal PF cabinet. Please.

I know i was not born in vancouver, but my statement is that’i wouldnt mind to have a dictator in Zambia who would guide the country into the right development path’ does any of the phrases directly or indirectly relate to to Sata.I dont think so , Sata is a bemba name ,those fine words are not in any way relate to president Sata. And that statement still stands.

  136. As Depression conditions worsened, and as grassroots worker and community protests escalated throughout the country, Roosevelt became more vocal, using his bully pulpit–in speeches and radio addresses–to promote New Deal ideas. Labor and community organizers felt confident in proclaiming, “FDR wants you to join the union.” With Roosevelt setting the tone, and with allies in Congress, grassroots activists won legislation guaranteeing workers’ right to organize, the minimum wage, family assistance for mothers, Social Security, banking reform, and the 40-hour week….

Now 168.Anonymous,Can you say that this was dictatorial, coz FDR Bulldozed these people to reformation a trait shared with…

  137. #169

My friend, you are now trying to insult my intelligence. I will leave it to others to judge. Just for interest sake, what was your intention then with regard to the discussion on sata.

  138. In the name of that which implants in the seed the future of the tree and in the hearts of humanity the longing for people living in neighborly love;

    In the name of the highest, in whom we move and who makes the mother, the father, brother, and the sister what they are;

    In the name of sages and great religious leaders, who sacrificed their lives to hasten the coming of the kingdom of peace and justice;

Let us renew our resolution sincerely to be real brothers and sisters regardless of any kind of barrier which estranges person from person.

In this holy resolution may we be strengthened, knowing that we are one family; that one spirit, the spirit of love, unites us; and that our work toge

  139. 164.I like yo response. But wat i wud luv 2 hear from u is that”i acknowledge Mr Sata has some shortcomings but overall his strengths outweigh these shortcomings” clearly pointing out wat these Strengths are, then i wud put accross 2 u why i consider most of his weaknesses 2 be 2 grave 4 him 2 be a head of state. One thing i hav noticed from him is that he doesn’t seem 2 learn from his past mistakes and he does not admit wen he is clearing in the wrong.

  140. #168 – You should add ‘Kaunda govt – Sata, Chiluba Govt – Sata’. Change should go towards something new. Not change of name only. Going PF is not a problem if PF is run democratically and powers in the president are toned down.
That way, we can expect Lubinda to have a good chance of taking over power. That is called ‘potential’. Right now, there is no ‘potential’ for positve change as the situation stands.
Looking at history, we can only expect the worst.
PF in plot 1 is possible. What is not guarranteed is peace, safety, growth, organisation, freedom etc. Remember that Hitler was voted for overwhelmingly. I see the same with Sata. I wish we could avoid this than say ‘I told you so’.

  141. …and that our work together for a more perfect and more joyful life leads us on….

    CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE!!!!

    VIVA PABWATO!!!

    YES WE CAN!

  142. What was Sata’s intention when he said that there will be no elections in 2011. He said this even as a presidential candidate. Well, who doesn’t know Sata’s dictatorial tendencies. May to accomomade your reasoning is it right for me to assume that sata is a ‘reasonable dictator’ or a ‘mis represented dictator’ or ‘ misunderstood dictator’?

  143. PF believes that SATA is the Change Zambia needs, NO.
SATA = 10 years of Chiluba
SATA = ‘third term’ bid for Chiluba’s leadership
    SATA = chase investment
SATA = fight anyone you find, including your own members of parliament
SATA = Insult journalists to intimidate them
    SATA = etc..

  144. Anonymous
I have no intentions to undermine or insult your intelligence. That was a follow up to the statements accusing Sata to be a dictator. I wanted to make people understand that dictatorship is not bad if its positively changing people’s lives. Besides who defines dictatorship or democracy the western world or the locals, just try to be care the way treat certain phrases.

  145. #175

You couldn’t have put it any better. PF people dont see it that way because they are not democrats. No convention in the party from inception! This speaks volumes about them. Yet here they are masquarading as democrats.

  146. #179

Look my friend, it is simple enough that you have an inclination to dictatorship. You support it and you could have never mentioned this if it had nothing to do with sata’s tendencies.Period

  147. It seems to be unfortunately true that the epidemic of Zambia’s lawlessness through MMD is spreading. Now when an epidemic of physical disease starts to spread, the community approves and joins in a quarantine of the patients in order to protect the health of the community against the spread of the disease… Thats why all the urban Voters deemed it appropriate to try and quarantine MMD before we even lose the little healthy environment we have…alas the village vote thought otherwise, because of lack of understanding of the lawlessness happening and unfolding as a result of the MMD government….

  148. #183 Luapula Fish

Negatively and contextually, Democrats will never force the people to have a president stand beyond constitutional term of office. Get it now- Sata was heralding the third term bid for Chiluba.

On the other hand dictators will impose their wills on people like saying no elections will take place in 2011 inspite of the constitution providing for these elections.

  149. #179 Luapula Fish – There is nowhere were dictatorship has helped people. Nowhere. If you have seen something good, there is probably more bad than good.
In your post with reference to dictatorship, I wish to say that you are the 1 that referred to it in trying to defend Sata. To me, you seem to know that Sata’s tactics are more dictatorial that democratic. Other PF supporters have just supported that idea in this very stream. Yet you say Sata is not a dictator. I am amazed! In other streams RB has been accused of ‘bringing back UNIP’. UNIP was dictatorial thats y it was removed. If this was bad, y shud it be good for Sata?

  150. Anonymous

Dictatorship and democracy are very relative terms and need to be cautiously used .
If you look at dictactorship and democracy from an acute angle ,then we are likely to differ for the rest of our lives.

I dont know what you picture to be democracy and dictatorship, is it from neo colonialistic perspective or enlightened perspective .

  151. #179. Luapula Fish,
Now I know why you have know elections in your party; governance by dictatorship is part of your policy. No wonder you cannot accept election results, because no dictator knows the meaning of elections. How sad!

  152. #179. Luapula Fish,
Now I know why you have no elections in your party; governance by dictatorship is part of your PF policy. No wonder you cannot accept election results, because no dictator knows the meaning of elections. How sad!

  153. I think this Mr Mulenga has brains. It’s heartening to see that someone withing the MMD is

    1) Urging RB to fulfil the promises he made to Kafue residents during election campaigning. This is right.

    2) Asking the MMD NEC to listen to copperbelt voters who voted for the opposition so that MMd can meet their need

    3) cautioning MMD not to take for granted the support they have in rural areas but to deliver to those people. This is wise.

I wish RB could make this guy his Vice President. He has wisdom.

  154. I am really not surprised at all that PF has their own version of democracy. Just look at their Party structure. The bwato is commandist in structure. The bwato is a canoe boat. Only a few are able to be on that boat, the rest are simply swimming along. How Pathetic.

  155. SATA’S THIRD WIFE

Dictatorship has helped almost all the developed nations who are singing about democracy. I gave you a good example of South Korea and Taiwan.Try to read on the DEVELOPMENTAL STATES of different developed nations,Combination of dictatorial and Democratic policies transformed the USA and Britain .The so called democrats have continued to carry out assasinations in even other countries to make sure they achieve their objectives.

    The spectator, its burning!!

  156. A dictator by defination is a bad ruler. May be a bad person too. He has no regard for other people and does not regard law. He sets himself above the law. A dictator is, may be simply, a bad person, like Satan.

I am yet to come across anyone who cherishes to be ruled by a dictator. A dictator dictates – wrong things.

  157. Those swimming along the bwato, dont mind the crocodile infested rivers, dont mind how far the destination is. BWATO for life indeed. Bwato takes ‘wills’ and then your ‘lives’

  158. #187. Luapula Fish,
However you define dictatorship does not change what you and I know about SATA; he does not only meet but exceeds the minimum requiremnets for a dictator. You would be merely displaying Holyhood behaviour if you pretended you are not aware of that fact. In fact I will define who a dictator is:
A dictator is a leader who sends a representative at ECZ election result centre to air grievances for him, but before the representative airs those grievances he goes behind his back and prepares a totally different document and airs his own views which his rep is not aware of.

  159. #198 Fine

PF people have known all along tha SATA is a dictator. Their genuine belief is that Zambia needs a dictator like Sata to pull through. It appears to them that unless Zambia HAS such a character, nothing can be achieved. I ,like many of us, differ principally with them. I believe Hard work, education and enterprise are the keys to economic emancipation. The independency of Democratic institutions should be enhanced for checks and balances whilst upholding the individual rights and liberties of the people.

  160. Fine
sorry am not picking up any scores for your definations of dictatorship and democracy but only to understand your personal hatred against the PF leader. For your own understanding its democracy was a product of dictatorship and their is no universal defination of the terms, except for a few poor countries who strugle to meet UN requirements to be eligible for PL 480 ( American Aid )

  161. You guys listen, there is no magic solution, no silver bullet, to solve these daunting and monumental problems we are facing as nation in-fact, the world. However, there historic contradictions that we have to confront and struggle through (Dictatorship and Democracy). There is no one thing that can solve the problem and provide some kind of guarantee against the reversal of the revolution even after it has triumphed, against the rupturing of Dictatorship off the dictatorialist road and back to the restoration of Democracy. It is a matter of continually learning and deepening our ability to confront and deal with the profound and acute contradictions that have to be confronted and moved throug

  162. Listen to Radio Phoenix now… Sata accuses KK and FTJ of rigging elections. What next? He has justified his cadres ‘assulting’ of FTJ yesterday!

    Sata a democrat?

  163. 201 Cont’s…

through and struggled through and resolved in order to advance toward Democracy. It is a matter of continuing the revolution wherever the proletariat seizes power and establishes Dictatorship, and defending it while at the same time, and above all, building the socialist country as a base area — a source of inspiration but also of assistance and support — for the revolutionary struggle throughout the world toward the common goal of Democracy.

  164. The Spectator

Am working with the girl next door to Custom desighn a PF Hoodie and will submmit it to Ecko clothing as soon as she completes. But I will be made to pay extra 50 bucks for ekco to do the prints.
I will give one to Anonymous and Sata’s third wife.

  165. off to unhook the plough, later. Iwe Luapula Fish, I knew you just abuse the kaponyas. The street wise kaponya saw through you and nver turned up to vote four man. They just drunk the chibuku. Who art thou to judge me.

  166. 203 conts

Once again, this requires drawing the lessons from historical experience — in particular the historical experience where our class has seized power, established the dictatorship of the proletariat, and embarked on the socialist road — and it is a matter of building on this to go even further, and yes, to do even better, the next time around…therefore, we can do away with dictatorship to attain democracy…as there is no universal definition of the aforesaid…

  167. Way to go Luapula Fish….I think we are widely misunderstood by masses of this young democracy…yes we are Kaponyas for change in our own versatile way we will reach them and meet them at whatever forum…to debate wisely and not to be thought of as noise makers!!!

Change you can Believe for sho!!!

    PABWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  168. Anonymous respect the people you are calling Kaponyas, they are providing a very good service and accord them the respect they deserve as equall performers in society. Its just the imperfections of the markets that has misled you not to respect them, given matching rewards the sky could be the limit. Chibuku is a better than Lagers you can ask any nutritionalist in zed.

Sata’s third Wife ,that is comming for you .
The spectator , keep floating coz I can swim all styles.

  169. Ba LT are you a PF carder? Everytime a topic becomes too anti-sata you quickly remove it from circulation. Nichani??

  170. #200. Luapula Fish,
Unless there is no dictatorship in the world, but if there is anything people can call dictatorship then SATA meets and exceeds its requirements.

  171. #211

Of course Kaponyas should be respected not abused like the way PF does. I have already stated that all hard working people should be appreciated and accorded the due respect. What I detaste is the thug, the abuser of the poor, the dictator who hoodwinks the poor. I am proud to state that Iam a villager and say so unashamedly. The kaponya that sata is is the type I whole heartedly and unequivocally detaste. The normal kaponya, I whole heartedly adore and love.

  172. *211 LUAPULA FISH.YOU ARE RIGHT BUT DON’T FORGET THAT EVEN VILLAGERS(THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY WANT)WILL ALSO REGISTER AND WHERE DOES IT LEAVE PF(NO CHANGE) AS LONG AS IT IS SATA THEY WILL DROWN HIS BOAT AGAIN.THEY FULLY UNDERSTAND HIM.THEY DON’T SUPPORT POLITICAL PARTIES LIKE FOOTBALL TEAMS.THEY ARE MORE ANALYTICAL THAN US TOWN DWELLERS.MAYBE TOO MUCH CIMWENGE.

  173. Let us also realise whilst listening and witnessing the unqualified complaints and rantings of sata that he (sata) has debt to settle. The Guy is so desperate that he is capable of anything just to unknot himself from facing his debtors. A gun has been put to his throat and the immediate settlement of debt is demanded.

If you carefully observe him, you will understand exactly what I mean. Some of his rantings give him away. FTJ and KK helped rig the elections?!#*$#@!!! What madness is that.

  174. YOU PEOPLE BLAMING THE VILLAGERS HAVEN’T YOU EVER WONDER WHY SATA DOES NOT INCLUDE POLICIES THAT AFFECT VILLAGERS.THE VILLAGERS ARE RIGHT BECAUSE SATA THINKS THEY ARE NOT ZAMBIANS EXCEPT PEOPLE FROM HIS VILLAGE OF COURSE.HE HAS NO RURAL DEVELOPMENT POLICY AND THEY EQUALLY TREAT HIM RIGHT.

  175. Fine
You have failed to discribe dictatorship for me but rather blend the PF president to be a dictator.

    Anonymous
all RB supporters are clients and you are no an exception ,hoping to benfit in one way or through perpetual resource mismanagement. I challenge you to explain to me y RB is the bests president among the three.

  176. #220 Luapula Fish

He is the lesser evil of the three.

Put him against SATA immediately you see a huge chasm betweem them.

Between and economist and a grade 4,

Between a respectable person (not perfect of course) and a thug who just very recently slapped an innocent victim.

Between a farmer and a thug

A non smoker and a dagga smoker

I can go on and on, another one-

Between a democrat and a dictator

  177. #220. Luapula Fish,
Definitely I will benefit from from RB’s govt; even you, you will benefit a lot from RB’s admin. SATA was going to ruin the economy, and you and I were going to benefit nothing.

  178. where can I get that, I understand that its HH is an Economist, I have not been impressed by RB when he talks about the economy ,he hardly puts up something to leave you analysing.

  179. Luapula Fish

Is that a way of blowing the trumpet eh. You dont care whether RB is an ecomnomist or not. You just want to tell us about you beng one.

I might as well give a glimpse of mine:

I am a villager, with two kraals with X number of beasts.
I am married to one beautiful woman and have X number of children

That is the best it can get.

  180. Do you know what I look forward to, Anonymous, Fine!and Sata’s 3rd Wife?! I look forward confidently to the day when all who work for a living will be one with no thought to their separateness as Bembas, Tongas, Lozis or any other distinctions. This will be the day when we bring into full realization the Zambian dream — a dream yet unfulfilled. A dream of equality of opportunity, of privilege and property widely distributed; a dream of a land where men will not take necessities from the many to give luxuries to the few; a dream of a land where men will not argue that the color of a man’s skin determines the content of his character…

  181. #228

The federal type will at least explain to you why we are were we are economically. The fundamentals of our problems and the solutions there of lie in examining the past. The self actualisation process of deciphing the hurdles we face lie in examining our history as a nation. And who can do that better than a federal economist.

Europe and America are where they are because of historic events that helped shape their economic direction. Never shun your elders and never underestimate their understanding of current economic circumstances. If you need me to go further just ask me.

  182. #220. Luapula Fish,
You say I have failed to describe the definition of dictatorship? I thought you said earlier that it was a debatable issue. How do you disqualify my version?

  183. …229 conts…

or the tribe of a man determines his character; a dream of a nation where all our gifts and resources are held not for ourselves alone, but as instruments of service for the rest of Zambians (all Classes); the dream of a country where every man will respect the dignity and worth of the human personality…

  184. The luapula Fish

Those are high and good aspirations but you completely cancel them by your incline to support retrogressive ideas embedded in the likes of Sata. If you care to examine, sata has a similar approach to Mugabe.

  185. Anaanymous
You can go on ,expalaining the historical events

    Fine
May be I didnt get your defination, But I only got something about sata and not dictorship

  186. These little separations had made impotence the productivity and progression of this great country, you focus so much on one man’s failure or sort-comings and pay a blind eye to his Strengths…yet we know that we all fall short in many ways but we are not Reprimanded for it…so my friends lets focus on the strong attributes of an individual so that when he comes in contact with those who are stronger he is strengthened…

    VIVA CHANGE!!!!

  187. #229. The Spectator!!,
I like what you have said. I equally look forward to that too. But in addition I also look forward to a day when Mr SATA will retire from politics allow people who are young at heart to continue to shape the affairs of our nation. This man likes fighting so much. He said it himself, unless he is a liar but if he is not a liar then he enjoys fighting squabling. After sack came back from RSA following his illness early this year, he told the nation during his reconciliation with LPM that not every criticism was genuine, but most of it was due to hatrade for Mwanawasa. Now this is not the leadership that can bring change to our nation, No!

  188. Honestly speaking rigging however, unfounded renders useless the Electoral process, in my understanding that is another form of Dictatorship, only that you are given a face of choice which is later on muddled…

  189. Luapula Fish

Our country was annexed by Cecil Rhode’s British South Africa Company under royal chater in 1891. In the 1920’s the economy was almost entirely rural subsistence farming, which claimed over 95% of the total population. That was until theopening up of the copperbelt. By any standard, northern RHODESIA as it was the called was one of the most backward economies in the entire world. The establishment of the large and prosperous mining industry did not lead to balanced growth.

  190. #234. Luapula Fish,
You say that you simply got something about SATA? In my definition i did not mention SATA, I simply gave the def. of dictatorship. Now, you are right to say i talked about SATA because the definition of dictatorship will describe any dictator. I am not surprised that you say SATA meets my description.

  191. I sign off

Remember custom designed PF/ecko Hoodies are coming soon, for Anonymous, Sata’s third wife and Fine

    THE SPECTATOR ,KEEP IT BURNING

  192. ARREST A CHAP WHO DEFECTED FROM MMD TO PF FOR STEALING A PLANE. BIRDS OF THE SAME FEATHERS, FLOCK 2GETHER. WOO PF

  193. Imagine the next time you step into the voting booth your ballot only lists one candidate to choose from. Or perhaps your ballot lists four candidates, but they are all from the MMD. By simple definitions, dictatorships are one party political systems that are ruled by one leader or an elite group of people under the principle of authoritarianism. Some feel that dictatorships are the most effective form of government because decisions are made quickly…

  194. The settlers on one hand, enjoyed privelleges beyond their wierdest dreams and sought to maintain the status whilst the african native was begger to the settlers.

This reality of being caught in the middle of two worlds, presented the leaders of our political emancipation (kk and company) a very tricky scenario and their biggest challenge. The steps that they took are to a large extent explain the hurdles we are in. Dont judge them too harshly and try to understand the problems they had at hand.

  195. The over dependence on copper export and the failure to stimulute adequate development outside it culminating into a situation where foreign trade waS completely dorminted by it. This in a way is what limited and still limits us to the copper industry. KK at independence resolved to spread this wealth from the rich copper mines to the people who had popularly elected them into office.

  196. #244. The Spectator!!
It is better to have one candidate on the ballot if the only other option is Mr SATA. I say this because I care about the many PF supporters who cannot see beyond what they hear. These PF cadres are my brothers and sisters, so i will always have their interest; I will not let SATA over deceive them to point of reaching state house. If all people were to campaign for SATA, i would be glad to be the only left, if no proven change takes place in this senior statesman.

  197. The disequillibrium that the mineral wealth presented explains why development was only done along the railway line and thereby making it difficult to diversecify the economy. Thisis still our challenge. Now here comes sata and he talks about more money in the pocket what crap is that.

  198. #249. Anonymous,
You are right, it is of no velue explaining anything to a PF cadre because he had no basis when joing PF though he becomes die-hard, and therefore he will have no reason why he must leave PF.

  199. 251. Anonymous and Fine!

If this country had many people like you who can debate and divided the truth according we could have been miles a heard in terms of development! It has been discussing these important issues with you…hope we are going to have more of these…as for now I am about to close up and head for give my children some attention as well have a Blessed week-end!!!

PF For Life!! Change you can believe!!!

    YES WE CAN!!!

  200. I am surprised that some of you are saying our countries development is stagnant. Do you even recognize the Govts aim to empower MSME’s for people like you and me uplift us to start our own businesses that are sustainable? Rome was not built in a day, some of you are so ignorant you think if Sata had won you would have seen a mini Switzerland in Zambia in 90 days. Shame.

  201. “UN hails Zambia
The United Nations says the peaceful atmosphere that characterised the October 30 Presidential election was a demonstration that Zambia is a true democrat. UN Resident Co-ordinator Macleod Nyirongo says the peaceful nature of the election showed that Zambia is committed to the tenets of democracy.
