Share

A grade twelve pupil in Kalulushi who was found with Biology papers last week on Thursday is in police custody awaiting investigations.

Both Chairperson for Examination Security Committee and the Zambia Police in Kalulushi confirmed the examination leakage to ZANIS in Kalulushi today.

Chairperson for Examination Security Committee Mr Joshua Mutisa said the boy whose name has been withheld was found with a Biology Paper One and Two, a day before the examination.

Mr Mutisa added that the paper was confiscated from the boy tallied on Monday as the committee wanted to compare the paper which came out exactly.

Mr Mutisa who is also Kalulushi District Commissioner said that the Zambia Police and other security wings were carrying out investigations for possible prosecutions in the culprits.

”We will not rest until we get to the source of the case.” Mr Mutisa said.

He said that pupils found with examination leakages risk their examinations being nullified and should not cheat themselves.

Mr Mutisa warned that whichever government officer would be found wanting would not only be fired, but prosecuted too.

  1. it’s the ECZ pipo who leak the exams. i think credible pipo should be put in charge if our education system is to be with value.

  2. Whats going pa Zed kanshi? bakabudo ilyo bapwile nomba. Value yapwa nomba even for those who will have credible results. ECZ wats yo take on this one? er day ma reports ya leakage, i think this is da worse year mwe.

  3. So you ECZ people, whats the whole point of ama grade 12 going to school and study when you know you will provide pre-written exam papers with answers. Bushe Corruption ikapwa?

  4. Olo bukamba kamba banthu imwe, 1 in every 5 zambians has had atleast a glimpse on a leaked paper, i bet those annoyed were the ones who got knocked.

  5. its not only the e.c.z people who are involved in such, teachers and headmasters are the main culprits. Well i dont blame them. If they had decent salaries, such wouldnt be happening.

  6. The weakness lies in the systems controls, from the preparation stage to the distribution. There are no publicly known proceedures for handly exam materials which are secure as far planning, organisation, control and implementation are concerned. In the interest of the nation and for the credibility of the excercise. A neutral institution such as a private security firm should be engaged to provide security through out the process to avoid such nonsense.

  7. A part of control , only identfied personnel, who are made to take oath of confidentiality should have access to the material until they are finally released to the students. One may argue that this is costly but the price of one’s security dosent come cheap.

  8. hes just doing what every zambian ought to be doing, ni zeeee
we found that happening, we left it happening, and it will always happen.thats zambia for you my fellow blogers

  9. even people of higher posts in government are also involved.you think ministers will just let their children fail when they are in a position to help them.if papers can leak in countries like south Africa what can stop it from happening pa zad.this is Africa mwana

  10. ‘A grade twelve pupil in Kalulushi who was found with Biology papers last week on Thursday is in police custody awaiting investigations.’

I thought the Copperbelt had clever and hard working students but this is alarming. Maybe our boys spent so much time listening to Presidential campaign jokes that we being told by some politicians in the past month and failed to study for the exams.

  11. You guys do put the blame on the pupils. The problem is with the higher authorities. Before the papers reach the culprit, find out how it moved from safe place to the culprit. You will find out that either a Teacher, Headmster or an official from ECZ is involved in the scum. Put some strict measures on these officials from the Ministry of Education please.

  12. such are the reasons enough to doubt the caliber of candidates who apply and are admitted at unza with 6 & 7 points at the expense of those who genuingly obtained say 12points and are not selected at campus. can somebody do something please before the trend of havin raw graduates from our universities and colleges gets out of hand!!

  13. we really need strictly measures expecially in nothern province it seems bembas are lazy to study whats wrong with these chaps.

  14. Leaks will not be avoided as lond as we don’t pay good salaries. We have seen situations where a teacher is not able to teach properly during normal time but the same will encourage tuition after normal lessons. Because of this, very soon you will find grade 1 going for tuition. Encouraging tuition has partly brought up leaking. A teacher who is conducting private lessons will like to mmake a name, a private school will also do the same to prove that government schools are not better. The end result is these pipo will conive with officials at ECZ.

  15. rhymes
    TEACHER CHEATER
    CHEAT TEACH, I love this.
Maybe the best is to examine these boys and girls by an independent examining board via sattelite since most schools have dstv, hope they just dont watch wwe

  16. They should just forgive the boy and release him. I think this year has been the worst rigged exams ever. The past few years it has been there but there was lots of security. Anyway what can you do if the elders or government officials if its true that they rigged it is also possible that the kids are only following the foots steps of their elder by getting leakages.

  17. Leave the chap alone,Ba ECZ mulafikosha fi exam sana.Zedian are not poor but it is because of the poor quality of education. It is very difficulty to get a masters in Zed but very easy to get a Phd in other countries.Iam ready to be oppossed on this one by anyone.

  18. Very few good results are genuine nowadays because of such vices. That is why chaps fail to show their colours when they are offered places in Universities and Colleges. If elections could be rigged then the possibility of leaking examinations is very high,I hope pupils in sinjembela, sigogo and other remote places will not write their exams a day or two after the official day like we saw in the just ended rigged and manipulated elections.Sata could have put a stop to this because he is a man of action,Viva Sata,Viva PF Pabwatoooooooooooo!

  19. #10 do u even knw anything bout vj for u to say that go nd read bout his books then u wil get to understand bout his life the man was too smart at school

  20. #36
The guy on #10 iam sure he/she is not talking about VJ’s education background but the mulpracting of elections.Teifyo fine #10

  21. these chaps all the do is drink and go for discos. Exams are here nchito na maleakage. Cage cage them. We do not want rigging even in Grade 12 Exams. Let people get to University and colleges on Merit. Its sad that even teachers are involved how disgusting. No one should be spared.

  22. #7 Eita Ola, i know about confusing the enemy but country are you in??? there are two falgs against your name.
#4 chiwembe also passed na leakage.no brains!

  23. Education system pa Zed has gone to the dogs. The teachers are fully involved in this scourge. They don’t teach but prefare extra lessons where they make a quick buck. The pupils don’t read but will find money for leakage. What kind of Zambia will we have in future. It will be run by “Matero University” graduates which will mean big disaster.

Something must be done now to stop this rot!!

  24. It happens, let the boy go, its the higher authority ECZ that shoul be questioned, i remember the same sitaution happened at Tech in Lston(2003)

  25. I think this year has been the worst in terms of Exam leakages. Chaps are being arresteed almost on a daily basis. These chaps are folowing FTJ’s example.

  26. we never saw any any exam papers before the exams during our time at Luangwa Boys secondary(1999 Exit) but we did wonders.Let that chap be jailed for cheating. They are the ones who embarrass us at University.

  27. The whole thing starts from Examination council. Headmasters just fit in the shoes of the exam setter. He is human,he also wants money. So better uproot the tree from the roots and not the branches.Leakages will never end!!!!!!!!

  28. This problem has been going on for sometime.please, please, please we need people like Dr B chituwo to be minster of education at least he brought good morals to the system.

  29. imwe mulekeni umwaiche, may you who caught him did the same, and you chi mwaiche leka ifyabupuba- learn to study. You sins are not forgiven, and you won’t go in peace though it has been happening.

  30. kampa

The problem of examination lekages could largely be blamed on the ECZ because there are the custodians of the examination papers and its them who leaks the papers to the public. When will the government seal the loopholes which are at the examintion council? This problem is not new it has been there for years so the people who are charged with the responsibility of handling exam papers should feel ashamed. Please leakages are diluting the strength of our examinations and quality of our graduates. How sad!

  31. The solution to the problem of likages only lays in riverting to the old system of writing cambridge exams. In those days likages where an hard of. No wonder the distinction is there between those who wrote ECZ and Cambridge examinations. The later are more qualitative, genuine as opposed to those who wrote ECZ examinations.

  32. The problem is not the student who was caught..it is the system and coruption…where did the young chap get the paper..(ECZ) it means alot of big pipo are involved…
spare the young chap and arrest the big fish
