Chiluba accuses Task Force on Corruption

Share

FORMER President Frederick Chiluba has accused the Task Force on Corruption of releasing information about his court cases on alleged corrupt practices in a selective manner.

Dr Chiluba’s press aide, Emmanuel Mwamba, said in Lusaka yesterday that the London judgement, for instance, was essentially based on Meer Care & Desai.

“In our view, the London judgement has collapsed following the appeal by Meer Care & Desai. The Attorney General was denied costs to appeal and Meer Care & Desai were awarded costs against the Zambian Government,” he said.

On Wednesday, November 26 this year, the House of Lords which is the highest court of appeal, ruled that the leave to appeal be refused and that the respondents (Meer Care & Desai) be at liberty to apply for their costs accordingly.

The House of Lords ruled further that if the application was granted, the amount of costs involved be certified by the Clerk of Parliament if there was no agreement between the two parties.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwamba said Chiluba had been offered an alternative land at Eureka area opposite Baobab where his house would be built.

Mr Mwamba said currently, the former President was engaged in discussions with Government over the matter.

Arrangements are being made by the Ministry of Lands, Works and Supply and Cabinet office to finalise discussions so that construction of the former President’s house can begin.

  1. Chiluba just know your days are numbered. You will be going behind bars.Kashiwa Bulaya is now behind bars serving 5 years. You people took this country for granted and you gona pay for your sins. Not even Rupiah Banda will serve you as Levy failed to serve Kashiwa Bulaya.

  2. Hi am back. I had a bereavement as my grandma passed on. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and remembered the reason why we were celebrating.
    Chiluba: serious comments reserved

  3. you guys leave chiluba alone persecuting him wont make the nation any better not even one inch…Zambians ought to find better things to focus on…

  4. No extra dollars will be found in Chiluba’s underwears for development….Zambians ought to focus on raising their productivity instead of fishing dollars from from Chiluba a 21st Century political corpse

  5. Father christmas in fact santa is on my top 2 wanted list… 1. Santa himself(reward if head is put on a table) and 2. a very beautiful woman(preferably alive to make me more human)..i had told santa what i wanted at the begining of the year 4 christmas,to let peace reign over zambia and a reduction of illiteracy but to my astonishment he only brought in more poverty this year, imagine a situation where the traditional xmas meal (‘lice’ ne nkoko) is not present to an ordinary zambian..SANTA YOUR 27s3 IS MINE. >:)

  6. #18 Eagle you are a very funny man.

Santa can give you your wish for ubwali nenkonko on chrsitmas for every 0ne but not a beautiful woman. Ubwali nenkonko is a small issue people stopped selfish. How do you start work today and tomorrow you are asking for your salary to be increased?

Santa likes the fat ones, those who do not have umusana. He hates the size zeros-ata no fat! A woman should have flabs otherwise Santa won`t have anywhere to hold!

  7. Chiluba is a former head of state that u can’t take away from him he’s in the history books and has archieved alot. Fellow bloggers don’t waste yo time and pls focus on better things than talking about this poor guy…

  8. :)>-:)>-:)>-:)>-i would like to address this issue as a sad development on the part of the task force on corruption…

  9. Zambians, its time u learnt to appriciate some even little things pipo have contributed to your nation. Dont always talk ill about your former presidents. Its a share wast of developmental time and resources. Let the law take its course if at all their is one in your country. I visited Zambia in the days of Dr Kaunda and had a tough time finding normal things like ice cream, coka cola etc for my kids. An average zambian could either only read about ice cream from a book or watch someone eat it in a movie at Plaza something as even a VCR was not affordable. Few years later, i come back to your beloved zambia and could not believe seeing all the bushes having been turned into shopping malls.

  10. No.32, Have you asked yourself why there were no goods in the shops? Could it be that the IMF and World Bank were squeezing the country until it followed the “right path”? I seem to remember Zimbabwe was following the “right path” in those days and they had no issues with food shortages….

  11. #32 no wonder you could not find “coka cola” in zambia when you visited.Iam zambian born and bred and have never heard of this item , whatever it is :d/

  12. Emmanuel Mwamba it does not help defending crooks. Your master is a big thief and very soon he will be served his meals from jail.

  13. Are we still spending money on this thief? What is our country like? This thief does not deserve any ngwee from our taxes. Let us protest.

  14. This case has become a total farce!!! End it now or convict, otherwise our proud judicial service will be marred in sticky mud that will take years to remove. Surely, can we not get the evidence all these years and convict, with all the resources at the hands of government?

  15. You dull Zambians. Do you think the country will bennefit or return all what chiluba alegedly stollen? Now let me tell you that the country will remain poor very few individuals like Nchitos and the task force people will get rich and bennefit from theses cases. So stop waisting your time especially you poor people. They are saying they have recovered 91 billion from these cases but they are not reviewing how much they have spent on the same cses why?

  16. #39, you must be a very funny person. The fight against corruption is a moral one and not about recovering all the money. People should know that stealing like Chiluba and his tandem of thieves did is NOT right. That is the message. Chiluba must be jailed or returns the money. In fact, we should even stop paying him until the cases are concluded. I will put up and injnction restraing govt from building his house until the cases are concluded. Its people like you who have been encouraging corruption and i guess you are also corrupt.

  17. #40. I think you have shalow mind what does the word return means? do you think the money chiluba will return will wil be more than what the government will spend?

  18. The real thief was Mwanawasa. He colluded with The Post Newspapers and The Nchito and international companies and put ZNOC and all oil profits in his pocket. The Post casually used to refer to their theft of ZNOC as collateral damage to the fake Mwanawasa fight against Chiluba. All the Post writings have been kept and will be used against them to prove their collusion with Mwanawasa over ZNOC.

  19. #41 and #42, I wished I would meet you and show you who between us has a shallow mind. I guess you would not even open your mouth in my presence. If you can defend things which Chiluba did, then you need to have your heads examined by a psychaetric doctor. Or else you must be living at Chainama mental health hospital. Chiluba actually desrves to be beaten publicly or humiliate him so much that everybody knows it pay pay to steal public funds. If he built hospitals when he was president, would we be wasting money sending pepople to RSA for treatment? Isn’t he ashamed to be getting treated by the doctors he fired? What a useless chap?

  20. Its only in Zambia where Govt builds houses for criminals like Chiluba. Where on earth can the govt build a house for a thief such as Chiluba?

  21. Chiluba knows his crimes but he is so arrogant that he pretends about them. Jail the useless chap, he is worth nothing and has contributed nothing significant to Zambia. The chap is the most useless person or thing I have ever known. What a country to elect such a short narrow minded cooked thing? No wonder KK laughed when we voted for this short, illiterate, ungrateful, thieving thing – he knew.

  22. Chiluba pali ifyo bamulaya, pantu nasamwa sana of late, nefifine bamutuma ku Sa for treatment ,he thinks twalitemwa, kalitumpa sana aka kamuntu,He has gotten away with a=ukupokolola mukamwine uyu watemwisha ulupiya kwati katwishi, she did everything to get her hands on govt.money, she could easily have killed someone just to get to kashoti.Abulanensoni uyu mayo.chiluba should be next na xavier chungu+the other chungu, don’t ever name your child chungu.

  23. GRZ = Gadamulani a Rosemary Zulu.
    PF means Poor Finishing.
SATA stands for Serious Annoying Talkative Adult.
SATA could also stand for Selfish Animal Talking Always.
    ZP stands for Zabwino Palibe.

  24. Now that KK,Chiluba and Mwanawasa they are gone, talking about them is a waste of time and resources, we must now talk about How are we going to build and develop the Country.Remember Zambia is a mess,It is very expensive to live in Zambia,It is cheaper to Live in the United States than to live in Zambia.

  25. How do you reward a thief? There are a lot of people without decent accommodation in this country. You go to spend tax payers’money on building a house for someone you plundered the country’s money all in the name of former President.#36 I support you let us protest.Chiluba should forfeit all his benefits.

  26. Most comments about Chiluba being a thief are based on heresy and hatred. The truth is Chiluba inherited the corrupt govt system which is still corrupt to-day. Learned colleages and people with sober mind are waiting for the judgement from the courts of law.
