TASKFORCE on corruption chairman Maxwell Nkole emphasises a point on Aaron Chungu's defiance of a police callout. This was during a press briefing in Lusaka recently.

The Zambia Direct Democracy Movement, ZDDM, has petitioned President, Rupiah Banda, not to consider extending the mandate of the Task Force on Corruption before investigations are done on its operations.

ZDDM National Coordinator, Edwin Sakala, said the Task force on Corruption should be investigated before it auctions property recovered from alleged plunderers.

In a letter dated January 2, 2009 addressed to President Banda and copied to ZANIS in Lusaka, Mr Sakala said the actions of the Task Force on Corruption should be thoroughly investigated to establish whether they were conducted in an objective manner.

Mr Sakala also suggested the establishment of a commission of inquiry to look into pending investigations of cases of alleged economic plunder being handled by the Task Force.

He said the Task Force on Corruption was formed outside the Constitutional provisions despite the presence of other security and investigation wings such as the Zambia Police Service and the Anti Corruption Commission, ACC.

He alleged that the crusade against corruption was vindictive and clouded with hatred.

Mr Sakala has since asked President Banda to consider disclosing to the nation the amount of money the Task Force on Corruption has used since its inception.

He said this would help the nation establish whether the institution has recovered more money than it has utilised in its operations.

  1. Big man who has smeared u wit some chedar cheese in kaki….who is actually behind the force of all this nonsense My beloved H.E L.P Mwanawasa S.C’s dream of a corrupt free society has gone with him…ooh Zambian’s similar to the desperation of the Israelite’s in 585 BC, u turn to anyone who seems to have a PHAT wallet…what a shame, mwanya.

  2. I don’t really agree with ZDDM. Let the Task Force accomplish their goes. One thing I would perhaps agree with is the disclosure of how much has been spent in relation to what’s been recovered. To the Task force I say,”Take the pluncerers on, and DON’T be selective”.

  3. Mr what ever; not just the amounts of money spent but what task force has achieved so far, as far as i know corruption is still prevailing just more systematic and carefull.

  4. Nga aba nabo ni banani kabili bafuma kwi? The problem in zed today is that everyone thinks they can say anything about everything.

  5. This should be one of the many fake NGOs in Zambia whose call should be ignored. Whose interest are u presenting Mr Sakala? What is the basis of your allegation that “the crusade against corruption is vindictive and clouded with hatred.” You chaps are being sponsored by plunders to force RB to abolish the task force. Whether the task force is abolished or not plunderers must investigated.

Mr Sakala, find something more meaningful to do and stop making noise. The president has more serious issues to attend to.

  6. There is so much truth and sense in what mr sakala has mentioned. The investigations has already been done by us concerned citizens of this country,if RB is serious he should just consult us and we will willingly give him the data.It is again true that the crusade againist corruption was selective and vindictive. What is the difference between Mabenga and Bulaya?

  7. #13 Ms whatever. Corruption is everywhere, instruments like TF are a detering factor. What they have done is in the papers, do yr home work then comment.

  8. No. 15 u are right, Mr Sakala has mentioned to many issues: illegality of task force, hatred and vindictiveness, wastage of resources etc. I am sure he has just been sponsored by plunderers and therefore his call should be ignored

  9. #21 i know the TF has been in the papers but i wonder if the noise they have made is equal to results, being in the paper doesnt mean the results are satisfying,im sure you agree with me.

  10. Apart from the non-issue at hand here being ZDDM. I think it’s just as important that we ask ourselves who advises on Max Nkole’s wardrobe. Why is he wearing that white suit- with a funny shirt, and pimpish tie. I know I am not the only one asking that question. You know how a man dresses speaks volumes about the man. Sorry LT but I had to say something.

  11. I do partially because several successes have been scored, but they too have their short comings. Better than not having had TF than have plunder concealed. Don’t you agree?

  12. There is one thing that Edwin Sakala does not tell you. He should declare interest in this matter. He is Richard Sakala’s brother mwebantu!

  13. #18..Zambian president..you are right
The task force is fine and good. Hoever some corruptions are not chased. Let us have examples..
1.Mabenga..nothings has been done whereas Rev Nyiorongo they never sleeped juct she was agaist the relative of LMP to become PS.

    2. Shansonga the task force escorted him to UK under presidential body guards?

    3. Bulaya, the task forced never arqued with LMP who stopped investigations on him. But the public prevailed and now Bulaya is jailed.

So guys there are many cases where the task force is quiet especially those cases where the govnt does not want them to handle. ## WE WANT AN IMPARTIAL TASK FORCE!!!!!!

  14. #27 YOU ARE RIGHT WHAT PUTS ME OFF IS THE HYPOCRICY WE HAVE PA ZED.THE SAME PEOPLE IN TF HAVE CONNECTIONS TO THE PLUNDERERS.THIS WILL BE MUSIC FOR A WHILE BUT THE SAME PEOPLE JUST TRYING TO STEAL LEGALLY THROUGH ALLOWANCES,REFUNDS,TRAVELLING. I FEEL THIS ORG WILL JUST DIE OFF AT SOME POINT WHEN THEY RUN OUT OF STEAM…OR SHOULD I SAY TF HAS SHORT SPAN

  15. Ba Max Nkole bakota! Whatever the case, he is supposed to be Zambia’s best copper at least to us who knew him kale.

  16. #31 i feel yr heart and feelings for our beloved country which seems to be loosing it somehow. That is why you and I are there. We need to be watch dogs who will correct thier blunders over plunderers. I like yr zeal, some day we might come up with WORK FORCE. But seriously, let us monitor their progress. Off for now, was nice blogging with you lady. Catch ya later. :-h:-h

  17. Scam! What the Task force has spent is actually more than what they are actaully suppose to recover. The task force has failed to efficiently carry out its mandetted tasks and perhaps if we were to quantify there effeiciency you will be shocked to learn that they have beem operating at not more than 2% efficiency. Please RB and company tell the Nation how much tax payers money has been spent on this scam. we deserve to know.

  18. He said…”the crusade against corruption was vindictive and clouded with hatred”
You can never achieve anything if you become emotional.icifukushi tekusova.Aba ba ZDDM BATULA KWI.Bushe ebaka pyana SATA?

  19. Big man please just keep quiet!Where have you been all this time? His excellency LPM wanted to abolish the task force why didnt you back him by then?today this is when you want to show us your concern.RB there is no need to investigate just close it.We all know that the chaps have failed us they are just busy fattening their bellies. All the guilty ones are free.FTJ,CHIBANDA,the 2 CHUNGUS,KABWE,KATELE etc,are all free only 2 innocent lives who were just following orders have suffered thatis Richard thief(sakala) and Joseph mosonda.

  20. Thats some flamboyant attire he is wearing, How exactly are you to take some seriously if they look as if PK chishala dressed them.

  21. Its very true,i agree with you 100%.The legality of the task force is quetionable. We need proper accountability of the property they recovered. Itusapato twachiluba ,where are they.Ama suits and that money you found. Some people are benefiting.

  22. Nine Chale

Guys imwe nishi ama new year’s resolutions yakukalifya abantu imbafu(ribs)ati where wenze you? Awe nazala kuti mwanjipaya.
    Now its this guy :-b

  23. Chewe
Thanks for coming back.I didnt like that name ati Droged. Thanks big man once again. :)>-:)>-:)>-

  24. The Zambia Direct Democracy Movement, ZDDM knows how to petition. I hope the passport and dual citizenship committee are taking note. To get the governments attention you need a press conference and some serious articulate person hopefully with a suit that doesn’t look like it was tailored by Mr Mbawo from Chisokoni market. We need to pull our intellect and muscle together to host the president , am sure if he see’s some serious individuals and food he might just listen to us

  25. I don’t think Mr Sakala has enough evidence to say that task force is selective. But definately, we need accountability for our country to prosper. We must also not forget that justice is not cheap.I think the quesitions we should be asking:”To what extent is the Task Force independent from political influence? Since the started operating, how many many big fishes have they caught? It seems only pawns in the political scandals are being convicted. How much more time does the task force need?If the cases are endless,it’s pointless to pursue them. After all it’s tax-payers money we are talking about.”

  26. Cutey i have forgiven you.Wil always be my elder sister and i love you as my sister.I have always joked with you and you know that. But i dont know why you had to say all what you said against me.Anyway its fine,i have never attacked you and i wil never ever do that no matter what you say.

  27. “”He alleged that the crusade against corruption was vindictive and clouded with hatred”” i agree to this sentence and we want to hear the amount of money which they have used since the its establishment

  28. The Sad truth is that it is no longer a Task. Max has to delay so that he continues enjoying his USD30pin/month. It is not serving any purpose we needed objectivity, time frame and targets.he also can visit bahamas or any destination anytime he wants and claim he is investigating plunderes whilst enjoying heft allowances. Shame bane.let’s empower ACC and all this nosense will stop.

  29. lets not be critical over the man Sakala. he has a point. it is the bias approach of the task force. second, people have become rich through this instrument. zambians we forget. remember mukebai then chona. where are they. the link between Ncito and mangande leave alone the post. kashiwa cases. what about Nawakwi and VJ how free are they? its these questions sakala is trying to call attention. Rb himself is corrupt even state house mices know. what is task force doing.it is another UN which is only strong on Africa issues. if they are to stay they need full autonomy. tefyo basakala :”>:”>:”>:”>

  30. But Basakala first mwachoka kuti. you c u cant jump on a big issue from nowhere. first pangani zina then speak they will listen. apa am worried bushe Sakala is he no being used by some forces against task force. yes u have a point but who are u. this could be small parties funded by MMD. kets wait and c next it will be Cosmo Mumba, next Sikota, then Nevers. :-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?

  31. Ba Sakala, much as i appreciate your sentiments, i find it difficult to agree with you that ACC should instead prosecute the plunder cases.ACC is there to expose corruption as it manifests. But this wasnt the case during FTJ.Here we had a stuation where there was a backlog of corruption and plunder cases that ACC was seeing but could not act in 10 yrs.Hence,it was natural to form a Task force to specifically deal with this backlog while letting the ACC continue detecting coruuption as it occurs instead of overburdening it.Mr. Sakala just come out in the open and say who is sponsoring you

  32. Morning all!! :)>-

So, what are we going to call the organ that will carry out this investigation on the operations of the task force on corruption?

Task Force on Task Force On Corruption???:-?

  33. Firstly the Task Force on corruption is an illegal set up and you don’t expect illegality to be lawful. Whatever they are doing is simply window dressing.
Secondly they have outlived their usefulness for nothing. The results are not there to show.
Thirdly they ought to be audited to know exactly how much they have bagged in their pockets in relation to what they have ‘recovered’.
Lastly its time the job which began in 2002 or there about, i mean investigations, arrests, prosecutions, hullabaloo or convictions or any rubbish we have come to witness is done away with once and for all. Out to Gaza & Southern Lebanon to see em terrorists (Hamas & Hizbollah)hammered by the superior Israel Army

  34. these are hired tuntemba organisations just barking.plunderers are really panicking, the hour has come.mr president and yo regime, don’t listen to such distractors.let them plunders feel the heat in jails.

  35. This is welcome. To whom is the Task Force accountable. Who checks that they themselves are not stealing or live above the law?

  36. In the 1980s some musicians started to sing about corruption- Nyoni’s Ifintu nibwangu, another’s ukwikwila mu Lusaka kukwata umutwe and Ngozi’s ponya pansi nipondepo: KK said these things were not true. Allegations were made in the 1990s FTJ said people making these claims must sustantiate. Here to day someone says lete investigate the FT we start calling him names. Cant you how big the cheeks and cars of the lawyers and members of this entity have become? Am sure they would want this heaven on earth can go on infinite. These cases are being made more complicated than they actually are for the purpose of raking in more money by all concerned.

  37. This Sakala must be related to Richard ‘Convicted’ Sakala who used to steal together with Chiluba. Without the Task Force, plunderers like Chiluba would be sh….ting on our heads.
    Viva Task Force

  38. #66 Unip Oyee: Task Force did not reveal the plunder; it was tasked to invetigate and prosecute these cases which it has failed lamentably

  39. Does mr nkole have any children at all? I seem to remember going to school with a girl called maureen nkole is that the daughter?
    she must be like 29

  40. what is wastage of resources? spending k10 pin to fight corruption and deter theft or let the same k10 pin be stolen. theft is wastage whilst fighting theft is not wastage. what is the problem with u zambians? you can not run a corruption fight on a profit and loss principle, NO. look at how much the US puts in drugs fight, Middle east oil protection of sources. fighting corruption is about fighting a vice that is threatening the existence of our society just like developed countries do when something threatens their well being. they even go to an extent of deploying troops. now here you zambians are complaining about something that does not even involve loss of life, shame on u
