Nkana Football Club Midlands Supporters Bureau has hailed progress made in rebuilding the club ahead of the 2026/2027 season.
In a statement issued by Patron Chileshe Kandeta, the bureau said the lifting of FIFA’s player recruitment ban was a key milestone in Nkana’s recovery.
“This achievement reflects the commitment, perseverance and hard work of the Club leadership in addressing institutional challenges and restoring confidence among stakeholders,” Kandeta said.
The bureau acknowledged Nkana’s struggles since 2021, when the 13-time league champions battled to avoid relegation instead of competing for honours.
“Great football institutions are not sustained by history alone. They require sound governance, financial discipline, strategic planning, strong stakeholder engagement and unwavering support from their supporters,” Kandeta said.
He commended the club for establishing a responsive media team that has improved communication with supporters, sponsors and partners. “Effective communication is an essential pillar of modern football administration. We are getting it and that’s great,” he said.
The Midlands Supporters reaffirmed commitment to work with the Executive Committee, management, technical bench and sponsors to rejuvenate “the dreaded Kalampa”. They pledged to support expanded recruitment drives, merchandise sales, advance ticket purchases, early membership payments, and fundraising initiatives.
Kandeta also committed supporters to eliminating hooliganism. “Nkana must be feared because of footballing excellence and passionate support, not because of disorderly conduct. Our stadium must be a safe, welcoming and family-friendly environment,” he said.
The bureau said it was optimistic that the foundations being laid by the current leadership would restore domestic competitiveness and position Nkana for CAF inter-club success in the medium term.
“The rebuilding process has begun. The signs are encouraging. The opportunity before us is significant. As Midlands Supporters, we stand ready to play our part,” Kandeta said.
