Zambia is on the verge of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup as the Copper Princesses face Ethiopia on Sunday in the decisive return leg of the final round.
The match is scheduled for 15h00 local time in Addis Ababa, 14h00 Zambian time, at the Abebe Bikila Stadium.
Zambia take a 2-1 advantage into the tie after the first leg played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola a week ago.
The Copper Princesses will be seeking a historic third consecutive appearance at the global showpiece to be hosted by Morocco later this year.
Assistant Coach Naomi Phiri said the team is in Addis Ababa to finish the job.
“We are here to finish what we started back home. The girls understand what is at stake and we are ready,” Phiri said.
Zambia has featured in the last two editions of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup and will be banking on that experience.
A draw or win will see them through, but a loss by more than one goal would end their campaign.
