Experienced Congolese striker Idris Mbombo has joined Konkola Blades after leaving Nkana last month following the non-renewal of his contract.
The club has confirmed that Mbombo has signed an 18-month deal at Konkola Stadium.
Mbombo has previously played for Zesco United and Kabwe Warriors.
Konkola have also signed former Nkana midfielder Jacob Ngulube, winger Binotynho Musonda from Jumulo, and Emmanuel Kunda from FC Leopards.
Club Chief Executive Officer Kebby Shampongo said the ‘Sharp Razor’ wants to inject fresh energy and top-flight experience into the squad.
“The new additions to the senior squad include Idris Ilunga Mbombo, a highly-rated Congolese forward who joins the club on a 1-year, 6-month contract,” Mr. Shampongo said.
“Formerly of Nkana FC, Zesco United, and Kabwe Warriors, Mbombo brings invaluable experience and a proven track record of finding the back of the net in the top flight. Jacob Ngulube, the tireless and creative midfielder, also joins the ‘Sharp Razor’ from Nkana FC on a 2-year deal,” he added.
The new players have already linked up with the rest of the squad in readiness for the new season.
Konkola finished ninth in the previous season with 48 points from 34 matches.
