WAFCON rivals Egypt, Zambia step up friendly plans ‎

Zambia’s 2026 WAFCON Group C opponents Egypt have begun their final pre-tournament camp and will play two friendlies against fellow finalists Senegal over the next four days.

‎Egypt and Zambia open their WAFCON campaign on July 28 at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

‎According to the Egyptian Football Association, Egypt are hosting Senegal at the National Selection Centre in Cairo. The first friendly is today, with the second set for July 11.

‎Egypt go into the matches on the back of four straight friendly wins in doubleheaders against Saudi Arabia in April and Tunisia in June.

‎Zambia, meanwhile, will play Algeria in two friendlies in Algiers, where the Copper Queens are expected to set up their pre-tournament camp next week.

‎Elsewhere in Group C, defending champions Nigeria will enter camp in Mohammedia, Morocco on July 15, but have not confirmed any final pre-tournament friendlies.

‎Malawi have been holding a local camp at home for the past fortnight but are yet to announce July friendly dates.

‎Zambia face Nigeria in their second Group C match on August 1, before playing Malawi on August 5. Both games will be at Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.
