  1. Other than George Mpombo, Nalubambe and Jazzman Chikwakwa, Lambas with wisdom and caliber are all but gone such as Mwanawasa, the Willima Brothers, late Mukola, Filemoni Ngoma, Malupande and now Ba Bob Litana.Kwashalafye ifiwelewewle fye.Ala nibani bakasunga ilamba??? Not twill not be a holiday but there will be no celebrations likes weddings. If you’re only in your 20’s, you may not remember him.

    Zoe
Important people from whatever political party are acknowledged when they die as long they contributed to this nation that people like Doras and George are trying to destroy

  4. Zoe, A freedom fighter is a freddom fighter and for your information a state funeral is not granted only to those in MMD or government but to those that have made meaningful contribution to Zambia for those of us in the know Mr Litana was a very strong adviser to MMD in its formation years.

To Chimbala Litana my brother I am so sorry to hear about your fathers loss and to all the Litana family may God be with you.

  5. RIP. But do we need a state funeral.Collectively UNIP destroyed Zambia ku end, no sugar, no mealie meal, waking up 04:00 in the morning to queue for cooking Oil.

How come my son’s school work(History)has no mention of this name anywhere??? Zed History heavily sedeted. Is it because NyamaSoya is typical UNIPIST through and through that everyone dying from the UNIP era is being honoured??? The Govt.,could have been representated by NyamaSoya no problem but to declare national mourning??? Eish.Overtime payment on this day for those working perhaps, well notidea in my view. What if KK!!! wont it be two yrs mourning???? Well not wishing him dead but even himself says tali wamuyayaya.a though

  6. Input I suggest you read up on your history or take a visit to Zambia to learn more. It is sad that a number of you young men of toady dont seem to dig deep into you hsitory that’s why you dont seem to understand the sacrifices others made for your freedom.

Input I also suggest you chnage your name as you have little input better call youself minus

  7. Ba Input,#24

I thought you knew that already.
Since UNIP has now swalloed MMD, all those who were with RB then will be honoured. That aside, isn’t it just right to recognise those who contribute to the development of the nation?

  8. When is the National Morning? today or Sunday? LT twafweni. Iwe Zimandola 1 #6 come up with your own cord, chili shani, i have warned you several times and you are not heeding to the advise, wabe lyobe.

  9. This is too much. Not agein. We can still morning without a state funeral. RB you are disturbing our deservedly entertaining weekend. Fwebene fenduze

  10. @#5 That is such a tribal attack and should be condemned in strongest terms. Are you suggesting the people in the limelight are the ones you consider wise. Shame! Its unfortunate that we have people in this 21st Century who still possess that primitive character in them.

I see this as an extreme end of idiocy!

  11. Double Tobela walasa #31 we need more entertainment, ba mfuma balifwile kale. Nomba tulefwayapo ku shana. Kanshi bakatila kaba shika, nefwe twafikula masha pa Mishikishi. Mulale muchibote anyway ba Litana wesu, sheke nsumbi esha shala mwilamba.

  12. #28 Mwaiche Kokolico, can you define a freedom fighter? that term is being abused for the benefit of some people. just because you threw a few stones during a riot or protest doesn’t make you a freedom fighter. Speaking as a former govt official there is no official list of freedom fighters at cabinet house. One is classified as such depend on personal connections.
About going back to zambia, i have no intentions till we have a progressive government in place and or dual citizenship. The reasons i left that country 20yrs ago are still as valid as when i boarded that plane( KK was on board too in first class).

  13. Right on bro “Input”! Zambia has an inherited history. we are yet to rewrite our history. Our politicians are not even brave enought to rename the Victoria falls or retrieve the broken hillman from the colonialist.

  14. Nipa Sunday fye guys…fenduze kwisa, mulesalikako nokusalika! Anyway, abatamba ZNBC ebalalusheta…..RIP ba Bob!

P.S I have also wondered what type of legs Lady Chiza has….. 😕

  15. Proceed with tribunal, says RB

President Rupiah Banda has instructed Secretary to the Treasury Likolo Ndalamei to make financial provisions for the tribunal to be set up to probe allegations of abuse of office against Transport and Communications Minister Dora Siliya. The president also said he welcomed the decision by Acting Chief Justice Irene Mambilima to constitute a tribunal over the matter.

  16. President Banda also hoped that all those involved in the on-going debate will allow the tribunal to conduct its work in a professional manner.

He appealed to Zambians to refrain from making comments which could be prejudicial and leave the matter in the competent hands of the tribunal to be set up.

Mr. Banda said the nation should wait for the final verdict of the tribunal and was confident, that justice will prevail.

  17. #28 Young people are scratching their heads because they have never heard of ba mwisho ba Bob Litana. It seems like there is an opportunity here for someone to write a book on the Political History of Zambia. Mind you, with such a poor reading culture, our young people would still be none the wiser. To think this country had such a promising start!

  18. I don’t understand though why the country should come to a stand still for days when you have a state funeral. It affects businesses that are involved in the entertainment industry. The law needs to be amended. Such laws were passed by UNIP who had little respect for other people’s property and businesses.

  19. I get confused sometimes with news ya pa zed ka. Just the other week there was a statement that govt will no longer attend to administration issues of freedom fighters due to financial constraints. now whats this state funeral again ? You guys are technically under UNIP ! ba KK has been so quiet about MMD politics so has NS. I smell a dead rat ! ifwe ni schengen manje no more dealing naba mposamabwe. RIP Mr Litana meanwhile

  20. #44 Relax ba Kevlar or is it bevla. The guy you are thanking at #5 hasnt included his father as one of the Lambas abamano. so since has only given us two categories of Lambas i;e abamano ne fipuba, where does he put his father sinc he hasnt listed him pabamano ?

  21. 27. Mpangula Mputyu,

The lack of knowlewdge among most bloggers in Zambian discussion threads irrespective of one’s level of historic depth, age, education status and or early childhood exposure, vindicate the just released research report that the emergent of blogs has ruined and undermined the place of my young Zambians.Their reading habits have suffered, career and academic prospects taken a battering.Random survey has shown that addicted bloggers log in blog servers 24 times a day and have slacked at work, school and family responsibilities until recordable failure has taken a toll.Few have read a 200 page book or made life dynamic gains. To some,Blogs are curses than blessing.

  22. wow!!!!! this could be a training tool for those doing 1302 arguments and ethic in communication. Do not blame them. My instructor was happy about this threed and used to analyse the fallacies of arguing. Watch it look beyond.

  23. 27. Mpangula Mputyu,

Take leadership role on your child by giving them time of enlightment than just blogging.Failure to do it yourself is denying them a future.Education and enlightment starts from a family.Nothing wrong with blogging but balancing is our individual responsibility.I can attest to the fact, that blogs are wrecking the future roles of many people addicted.I know of religious Zambian in the States who has lost his marriage because of over blogging. He would come from work and straight into blogging untill 2:00am.Intermittently leave the wife before morning to blog.I did the counselling till i witnessed the devorce yet they have 3 kids together.

  24. Caution:

Never ever blog from your work place computer server, you risk your job

From school logging computers, you are at the peril of Global security who build profile on every human being.

If you have plans of entering public office now or in future or classified high security careers, Global Diplomatic Corps with multinational institutions, watch your blogging tone, vocabulary and though process. Our individual blogging lives have indellible trails irrespective of pseudonyms used or time span done.Profile can be established from blogging lives.I have found myself in that predicament and thank God i blogged with dignity and responsility. We are all at liberty but with own responsi

  25. MHSRP
But we may as well mourn all the others in advance because we are stuck with death.Frankly speaking these people have gone into oblivion and would do with a quit funeral ku MPONGWE.

  26. HK #55, no he was the brother to Elijah Litana`s father, any way in our Zambian tradition, yes thats Elijah Litana`s father, if you like it that way. We use to be neighbours in Ndola and ba Mwisho ba Bob visited them regulary. May His Soul and the Souls the other Departed Rest in Eternal Peace

  27. What is a state funeral kanshi??? We have economic crisis ati ama state funerals. Is Idi Amin Bwenzani Lupiya Banda going to pay from his pocket?

    • Is there any money being spent on this State Funeral for you to complain? Absolutely not! He died on duty he was attending the NCC.

  28. we are tired of state funerals whos next veron even if they are not spending money we have had enough of state funerals that man was in unip no more state funerals for theives.please

  29. Thankyou for your kind words. Most people do not appreciate what my grandfather did but I saw what he sacrificed for his country though it may not be appreciated by everyone. He was a humble man, who did not seek publicity, because he was not a controvesial man, he wanted the best for our nation. I will let uncle Clement/Chimbala know that there are people out there expressing their concern for our loss.
    Thankyou.

  30. And for those who are so damn ignorant, please keep your insults to yourselves. You obviously do not appreciate what my grandfather and our family did for our nation. Maybe some of you would still be happier under the British regime. Some of us(like my grandfather Bob) grew tired of being ruled by foreigners, especially when he himself and others were smart enough to rule Zambia. Just because he was under UNIP it doesn’t not necessarily mean that he agreed with everything the party stood for.It was his one opportunity to make a difference and he took it. Instead of wasting your time crying about partying why don’t you gain some education and see what positive change you can bring to…

  31. So you didn’t get to party for one day…ohhh big freaking deal. Give me a break!!!! After everything he did for all ZAMBIANS the least you can do to show your appreciation whether you knew him or not is sarifice one day of partying. Hell he deserved more than that, our family is not into seeking the publics stamp of approval or praises for our good deeds, but have the decency to respect the man and allow him to rest in peace. REMEMBER IGNORANCE IS BLISS!

  32. I just read about Bob Litana’s death.I knew him as Joseph. We were boyhood friends at Fiwale Hill Mission. He loved Music and admired his skill at playing the guitar .He loved life.He had a wonderful sense of humour.I still remember his laugh. He has quite a legacy with a father who was well respected as a family man and a preacher of the gospel. The last time I saw Joseph(Bob) wa swhen he and his family treated me to a dinner at a Chinese Restaurant in Ndola. What are a family.Only to be admired for their kindness and love of God.
Somone disappeared with the photos I had of him If someone has a photo of him please let me know.He deserved a state funeral He was loyal to the President Kaunda and to the people of Zambia. He was honest and not corrupted. He died with few riches to his name .
