Shakafuswa and Chibombamilimo expelled from MMD

Katuba member of parliament, Jonas Shakafuswa, and Mpulungu member of parliament, Lameck Chibombamilimo have been expelled from the MMD.

MMD national secretary, Katele Kalumba, announced the expulsion of the two MPs during a press briefing in Lusaka on Tuesday.

Dr. Kalumba said the NEC made the decision during a meeting held to discuss various matters related to discipline in the party.

He said the MMD will soon inform the speaker of the national assembly about the decision.

Dr. Kalumba said NEC has evidence indicating that the two officials have arrogantly made statements in the media and conducted themselves in a manner which has embarrassed the party.

This was after they were relieved of their duties as deputy ministers.

Last Thursday, President Rupiah Banda fired Mr. Shakafuswa who was Science and Technology deputy Minister and his counter part at Energy Mr. Chibombamilimo.

In fact, I hope to read news that president HH has invited Mr Shakafuswa to rejoin the UPND Team which is the only sensible party to lead Zambia and Zambians into prosperity in the future if given a chance to form GRZ. There is no need to engage in a marriage of convinience with PF”s Leader Undereducate MC Sata, but the Undereducate is welcome to dis-band his PF and join the UPND as a backup member under the demoratically elected leadership of president HH until a U-Team General Assembly is held in 2011 before the upcoming tripartite elections. This is the only way to go for now as a new GRZ must be formed in 2011.

One other thing, how come all these Generals and Regina sentencing has happened within one week? Do you mean this when they found new evidence on all at the same time? RB is up to something.     • Really my brother /sister, what do you really want? Rupia was accused of having a plan to release all the people involved in corruption cases. Instead they are being jailed including Regina.     • Ba Nkole, Its not about Zombies and all those stuff no, but yes this is how the country has sunk – sunk to such any extent that Rupiah Bwezani Banda (the farm manager) is now the president. We don’t even pretender anymore like in Chilubas government, we just go on TV and speak with so much Hatred and no diplomacy yet his the president. Trying to prove that he’s finishing up LPM’s works? Hope he will have his vision after all these jail sentences otherwise he’s just another lost soul. Where is King Cobra? why the silence?     • On the issue of accusations I think it’s true because until he realized that people will be against the ideal he damped the ideal and if u can’t beat them join them. The lawyer himself LPM took him many years to build a case against them and Bwezani in one week all have been put down..but lets go back in history those people in jail now had power before, so much that it must have touched Bwezani down town in chipata in those days of Chiluba and lets not forget Zed politics that they are politics of hatred.   25. We shall see what the speaker of national assembly will do. Has got one rule for the MMD and another one for the opposition? Something is worng in the brains of our Zambian politicians if these will lose their seats. I hope they go to court to get an injuction so that the courts are given a headache too as to how they will handle two cases of expulsion, one for PF and the other for MMD.

  28. it only shows that MMD has never had a plan from the beginning. Chiluba couldn’t find anyone amongst his LTs and had to bring Levy back. Levy’s time came and they could elect there own man who has been there from the word go. They had to borrow from UNIP archieves. this all shows that in 1991 we were not ready for the much needed change this has come at a price a price unfortunately all zedians have to pay.nowonder we have recycled politicians in alomost all political parties.2011 the same might happen Nyama soya is so opposed to the 50 + 1 cause he wants to cling on to power we might have another mugabe in zambia.zedians let us rise to the cause and fight a noble for our future

    • Is there anyone in class 1991 of MMD who was not a member of UNIP? Every who was a politician in 1991 had been a member of UNIP. Not everyone in UNIP agreed with KK. Everyone just had to survive. Sata was Governor (the most viscious UNIP bruiser). Mazoka was UNIP, otherwise could not get an executive post in parastatals. Why this reference to UNIP all the time?

  38. If I recall correctly, MMD under Sata’s reign as Secretary expelled a lot of people and so has the PF. Expulsions in Zambian politics are the order of the day. Once you are expelled it is difficult to make it to the top ranks of another pre-existing party because you are always considered an outsider. They will be replaced. Someone has been waiting in the wings.

Should the two men Mr Shakafuswa and Mr Chibombamilimo be expelled from the MMD by the Speaker of the National Assembly if he declares their MP seats empty, then we need a demonstration from the whole country to make sure the rebel PF MPs’ are declared empty immediately so that we can have by-elections for all the seats.
    Their is no need for double standards to be implemented by the Speaker at this stage.
    I also hope Mr Shakafuswa and Mr Chibombamilimo will consider joining the 2011 winning team the UPNP Team under the leadership of president Hakainde Hichilema to strengthen the party before the 2011 UPND General Assembly to elect a new National Management Committee that will run the…

  41. Who is next? Movement for Mono-view Democracy (MMD). Divisions are not good. Thats what happens when you entrust new comers with your party. Hope you will learn good lessons. MMD has many new comers even Shakas was one of them

    • I just hope these expulsions and many more to come if they will are last kicks of a dying horse MMD. 20 years of the MMD in GRZ will have been a long time by 2011 and so we need a new name of a political party forming GRZ after the 2011 tripartite elections.
      I hope those MMD expelled and to be expelled MPs and members will be invited by president Hakainde Hichilema to rejoin and join him in the UPND Team’s quest to form GRZ in 2011 following the precedence by the late former UPND president A. Mazoka who invited the expelled MMD 22 or so MPs in 2001 or so to join him in the efforts to consolidate the U-Team.
      Their failure to join UPND brought FDD and PF which have done nothing useful so…

When Kaunda was in power, we blamed the whites, when Chiluba was in power we blamed Kaunda and when Mwanawasa was in power we blamed Chiluba for lack of development, and when now Bwezani is in power he can’t blame Mwanawasa coz his passed (R.I.P) that’s the problem when u elect a farmer manager to run the country. Bwezani wants room to mingle freely and steal as much as possible but lets not give him any room as he tries to silence those who oppose him, it doesn’t means if you are in MMD you should like his farm ideals. We can see his leading country directionless. Even when his talking, one can tell that he (Bwezani) doesn’t not understand why his saying as long it makes sense to him at that particular time. i think we should stop voting in Zambia we should instead appoint leaders coz if voting could change things then voting is not for Zambia coz things never change to better or maybe change in the negative way is too change right! in zed change is resistant to positivity.

    • Next it will be the same newcomers that will be expelled wait for 2011 you will see. All newcomers will have to establish their own party or go back to their former parties. MMD belongs to the founder members like us
