The MMD National Executive Committee, NEC, has directed the Lusaka Province party Executive to immediately lift the suspension of Lusaka Central Chairman, Elias Mpondela.

Party spokesperson, Benny Tetamashimba, said the party had learnt that Mr. Mpondela’s suspension was steered by the misrepresentation of facts by the Post Newspaper.

Mr. Tetamashimba told ZANIS in an interview that the party discovered the misrepresentation of facts by the Post Newspaper through the correction that the daily tabloid published in its Saturday edition.

Mr. Tetamashimba, however, advised the Post Newspaper to adhere to principles of factual and objective reporting in its operation and should strive to desist from manipulating facts.

And Mr. Tetamashimba has said the MMD party is stronger than ever and that it would continue to take stern action against erring party members.

Reacting to some media reports over a string of disciplinary actions within the MMD party, Mr. Tetamashimba said the party could not crack down because of the expulsion of two junior ministers, who were allegedly being insubordinate to their superiors.

He said the MMD would not allow individuals to destabilize the party.

    • Cant believe these are the people we call leaders. Absolute disorganization, seems like they just realized people are realizing they are digging themselves in a grave. In my view too late, once cracked cracked forever!

    • MMD drama at its best. So it means that party protocol was not followed when Mpondela was suspended. The executive committee was also wrong to go thru the media. They should have quietly resolved the issue by having closed door meetings to deliberate. But as usual nobody has common sense!!!!

    • I notice that you’re using the name “Zambie”. This might be confusing because I have been using the name “Zambia” . Could you drop the use of that name altogether or modify it significantly so that the two of us can easily be distinguished?
      Thanks!

    • Lukuku dares Sata for calling his party under-five

Leftist progressive party interim secretary General James Lukuku has dared Patriotic Front Leader, Micheal Sata for referring to his party as an under-age grouping. Lukuku is particularly unhappy with Mr. Sata’s reaction to his observation that the opposition in the country is weakening. This follows the outspoken PF leader’s reaction in which he likened Mr. Lukuku’s party to what he termed as an under-five political party saying it has nothing to offer in terms of the country’s numerous challenges. Speaking to media yesterday, Mr. Lukuku said he was merely trying to put records straight and did not expect the kind of reaction…

    • If not the worst form of disorganization what else can it be .Please the parent party put your house in order,or pave for another party which is not fatigued. It appears you need rest .

    • Where ever you learnt structure management, you need to go claim your money back.A constituency official which Mpondela is can be “suspended” by the district while expulsion is by NEC only.Reinstatement or overruling is by the NEC.There is nothing wrong or confusing here understanding that NEC is the supreme body of the party.Look at PF and how many members it has suspended and expelled at the lower organ and nation command leadership. They later reinstate following corrections. It will be interesting to see your blog parties thrive on impunity and insulting each other.Even in the USA Joel Liberman was in troubled waters for merely supporting his childhood friend McCain.

    • Denials wont help matters ,bottom line is, there is turbulence in MMD .We criticize because it is a ruling party and if there is confusion in the ruling the nation is affected,as there is no clear line between the party and the govt. If the converse was true ,then we would not have had party functions held at state house.

    • So are you saying just because it happened in the US then it should be ok if it happens Zambia? I believe we should criticize based on what we fill should be right or wrong in Zambia, and not waiting to see how others will do it. But then again those are just my thoughts.

    • Its been a good lesson to the MMD, it seems they dont trust each other thats the reason behind such actions. Stop acting on hear say, base your actions on truth. Otherwise, well done ba NEC for doing the right thing and we now expect you to discpline those from Lusaka Constituency for the bad judgement that compromises the standing of the party

  1. ….so the post is the official source on information on which MMD leadership operates? this kind of incompetence is outrageous! lets see what RB will do about that if he is really in charge of his party

    • Zambian Politics is mary go round like in Kindergarten! Wait until one of the bloggers on LT becomes the reason why RB steps down. Then you will know on which grounds RB built his government.

  2. Talk about lack of leadership and disorganisation at it best. There you have it people. Enjoy the MMD circus as they head to their grave and final resting place. What a shame and a waste of what Levy did for this party. Even Chiluba had leadership and no cadres would run the party like that. Sad indeed

    • I wonder what sort of meals these guys take. These people may be eating the wrong food hence this chaos. You do not expect someone who eats healthy food to act this way.

    • Ba Jamaco naimwe, what has food got to do with the thinking kanshi….i do not think that there is anything wrong with kapenta and beans.

  3. The saga continues. Stories after stories. Just give the man his seat back so that he can continue with his duties. Please also allow him to speak his mind if there need be. Even have the chance to criticize the President if takes a wrong turn. This time go to state House and sort it out with RB and not making it public in the Post Newspaper.

    • Advise to Mpondela. He should resign from MMD.How can a party suspend someone from a mare speculation?for that purpose a newspaper?Common on MMD.

    • Who would lose if Mpondela resigns? Do you really think MMD would even give it a dam over his constituency position or the party power would be altered by departure of a none functional constituency official ever busy chasing for internal tenders and official functions at his lodge? You don’t need to go to the convention to fill up a constituency position.Within 2 hours of departure the position would be filled.Mpondela’s gains have every trail to MMD incase you don’t know that patronage has never been a free entreprise. It is the source of Harriburton,Blackwaters, the Moeletsi Mbeki -Ivor Ichikowitz, and Jacob Zuma triage.Obama receiving millions from CEOs not free lunch

    • The problem is this is pure entertainment for the Zambians. Most of them forget that they are being neglected. It would not surprise me if in 2011 he still came out victorious. Some needs to tell the public that this is not the Leadership Zambia needs. RB and friends are keeping this country in the dark.

    • Awe I don’t have words. They are so childish. Why speaking for Mpondela? Mpondela has not complained against the Post report meaning the post reported correctly. Now the party is accusing the post? What is this people . Some body to explain to me what this means please….ala bampesha amino ba MMD!!!!!!

    • You just hate the post you want finished in shame. Didn’t read this “We made a boo-boo on Kopulande-Post “? Then what do want poor Mpondela to do?

    • Someone has retracted his news filing then what do you want.Read the posted transcript they have put in their paper apologizing it all.

    • leadership yes it is failing:mmd should take extreme care of the party cadres they capable of misdirecting things with catastrophic results.look back into recent history how they conived with ftj on the third term issue and how many people were expelled from mmd. reinstate everyone including shakas and lameck you guys.

  4. . MMD circus coming to a city near you, book your seats now on Lusakatimes and see Zambias top clowns at their best. Watch the leader, lead an entire nation blindfolded with only the voice of the Post as his guide. Watch how they will juggle the economy in the midst of a global economic crisis.Folks this show is not to be missed. They are hopefully only on tour for the next three years after which a chinese company will buy them.SEE YOU THERE!

  5. Its strange how the Post don’t get blamed for such erronious reporting. The apology is not sufficient in my view. And also its amazing how the MMD can suspend someone without giving them a hearing

    • In the newspaper business it is normal to apologise if you discover a mistake has been made even without being prompted by the person misrepresented.

  6. Am tired of aba ba kamushi. It’s simply unbelievable how a whole govt can be fighting a small daily tabloid called The Post.I have never been a fan of The Post because of their unethical reporting but at the moment they seem to be winning the war against Banda,i guess if a poll had to be done now,Banda & MMD”s popularity would be proved to have sunk to the lowest level.I wish we had modern politics in africa where the electorate thru their MP’s would simply pass a vote of no confidence & force the so called leaders in govt to resign, the current leadership in Zambia is pathetic!

    • Iwe chapman what makes you think thats the actual blogger! You can insert anything including a snake to represent you.

    • I agree with Jigga. At this point we just need to pass a vote of no confidence. The country is going no where with the current leadership. Its beyond sad that we will let a few people dictate what is important and how we live our lives.

    • I notice that you’re using the name “Zambie”. This might be confusing because I have been using the name “Zambia” . Could you drop the use of that name altogether or modify it significantly so that the two of us can easily be distinguished?
      Thanks!

  7. Post Newspaper says sorry
The Post Newspaper has apologised to two MMD senior officials for misrespresentation of facts in a story attributed to them in a Saturday edition of the paper.

This is according to a letter by Post Newspapers Managing Editor, Amos Malupenga to MMD Chairman for Trade and Commerce Sebastian Kopulande and Lusaka Central Constituency Chairman Elias Mpondela.

In the letter obtained by ZNBC, Mr. Malupenga says there was no malice intended on the part of the newspaper.

  8. Zambia, i had run into a situation like yours before and just decided to change my blog name because the other blogger was adamant…you might wanna just do that coz it looks like “zambie” will continue to blog under that name.

  9. “It is unfortunate that some MMD members have resorted to disregarding the leadership of President Banda, who is the acting head of the party,” Teta said. Coupled with the Mpondela confusion, its Madagascar here, complete with a lemar called Teta and doodo called Banda

  10. These guys are not MMD. They came thru the back when they saw no hope for their parties and displace the owners of the party, Shame

  11. Everyone can now see that the MMD needs to have a paper like The Post in order to maintain discipline in its party. By all means, Daily mail and Times cannot print anything that insults or disparages the party president. Without The Post, MMD would not know what its members are saying about the party president, therefore, MMD needs The Post more than anyone else.

  12. I honestly tremble with fear for my country to just imagine the confusion that will engulf this party by the time the polls are around the corner. FTJ’s government literally collapsed under the 3rd term excrement. Banda’s one is doomed by incomprehensible incompetence.

  13. Indeed, why’d a ruling party act against their own based on a report in a tabloit newspaper without verifying the facts first? What is all this panic about?

  14. shame on you MMD why do you act before you see and judge, that what i learnt in RE at school, see, judge and act. for MMD its just to act , shame on you guys. this just shows how disorganised you are, no professionalism in your work.

  15. It amazing how these people operate, and these are the people we call leaders….God help zed. They only think after they act. Ya the post should have a loud laugh…
