MARIAGES UNIFY FAMILIES-SHIKAPWASHA

Government says there is need to promote healthy marriages in the country as it is an essential factor in the unification of families.

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, Ronnie Shikapwasha, says the promotion of health marriages will also play an important role in keeping children out of poverty.

Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha said this last night at a wedding reception of Bright Sichinga and Naomi Mulubwa.

He said government will remain committed to supporting families by promoting policies that help strengthen the institution of marriage and help parents rear children in a positive and health environments.

General Shikapwasha, who is also Chief Government Spokesperson, further said that the promotion of health marriages is a catalyst for keeping children out of poverty and help in providing children with a sound foundation for success.

General Shikapwasha has since urged youths in the country to emulate the newly weds and uphold the marriage virtues with a view to strengthening families.

  1. “The family is the core of civilisation”, observed the American historian Will Durant once. I support both Durant’s and Shikapwasha’s efforts to promote family ties.

  2. Shikapwasha should dump his mistress before talking about healthy marriages. – hypocrite!

  3. This is one thing true coming from this man’s usually corroded mouth. Yes everyone should support this one. Wether you are Christian or not, marriage and family make and develop a nation. God bless all of us.

  4. There is a saying that says DO WHAT I TELL YOU AND DONT DO WHAT DO.so please as a christian nation we needto follow the christian morrows on marriage even if it comes from a dirty mouth.

  5. What mr Shikapwasha is just empty rethoric. He does not state what Policy government will put in place to promote health marriages. How for instance will that policy make husbands love their wives, how in turn will it make wives submit to the headship of their husbands? How will it make husbands/fathers be good providers of the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of their wives and children. How will it help children contribute to the happiness of the family by being obedient? For as long as the policy does not address these core issues, it will at best be an empty rhetoric which will not make any meaningful contribution to the institution of marriage.
