The three Investigating wings, probing the Zambian airways saga have refuted media reports that they have hit a snag.
The Zambia police Service, Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) are investigating operations at the closed airline.
Inspector General of Police Francis told journalists at a media briefing that reports in Monday’s edition of the Post Newspapers that the probe had stalled are untrue.
He said the joint team has instead broadened its investigations.
Mr. Kabonde said it is also NOT correct that the Police Service is the only one investigating the operations of Zambian Airways.
He said the Police, DEC and ACC want to ensure that every case being handled is thoroughly investigated within the context of justice, professionalism and fair play.
Mr. Kabonde said when the Director of Public Prosecutions advises the joint investigation team it does not imply that the matter has been halted.
He explained that it is common practice to consult the DPP on various legal issues before official arrests are made.
The Post reported that investigations into the operations of the airline had hit a snag and investigators are now probing officers at the Development Bank of Zambia.
And ACC Acting Director General Rosewin Wandi said members of the public have come forward with more information in the ten billion kwacha saga at the Ministry of Health.
Last week the ACC exposed a scam in which billions of Kwacha have been misappropriated by some workers at the ministry.

Please give us a break! We are tired of hearing the same story for over 4 months now. Arrest them if there is evidence!!!! In the UK several people arrested and detained on terrorism charges have been released without charge or acquited by the courts. The two crimes: The investigating agencies are following behind the two menaces of terrorism and money laundering. People involved in these crimes are very clever and we need better equiped services to handle these cases. However, at the end of the day, if they did no wrong, well and good. It means less criminals and less corruption on our books… which is a good thing!

I dont see anything wrong with the comments from the Police, The problem here is that the post is an interested party and can easily publish any news to change opinion of the Zambians, and unfortunatly Zambians seem to buy it. Suppose in tomorrows issue the post news says Task force find no case to answer, It will be to police to correct the information but unfortunately Zambian oipinion is easily influenced. Remember in this case the post will do anything in the sake of their reputation. If the see more and more are against them they may just bring up a completely new debate in the news e.g Minister has stolen money and every body will forget about the Zambia Airways issue and start debating a non issue.

There is a bad debt of US$3m or K15billion of public money borrowed from Development Bank of Zambia by Zambian Airways and guaranteed by Post Newspapers. What do you want the Government to do.
