MMD youth in Eastern province endorse RB for 2011 presidency

Share

Ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) youths in Eastern province have joined other parts of the country in indorsing incumbent President, Rupiah Banda as party candidate for 2011presidential elections.

Provincial MMD Youth chairperson, Sam Thole said President Banda was the only candidate in the party who had the interests of the part at heart, adding that he was the only one who could continue with developmental programmes for the country.

Mr. Thole told ZANIS that youths in the region would not tolerate party members who have shown interest to contest the presidency against President Banda at the party convention next year.

He said the cadres have already started mobilizing their colleagues from other parts of the country to ensure President Banda was adopted for 2011.

“Even if every person is allowed to stand at the convention, Mr. Banda is the right man. Most of those who have shown interest to stand for presidency have questionable calibre” he added.

He has since urged other youths who are 18 years old and above to obtain National Registration Cards (NRCs) so that they could qualify to vote in the 2011 general elections.

And one of the youths, James Zulu, said it would be important for President Banda to contest the 2011 elections for him to serve his own term and not just finishing the late President Levy Mwanawasa’s term.

  1. The “Ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) youths in Eastern province have joined other parts of the country in (i/E)ndorsing incumbent President, Rupiah Banda as party candidate for 2011presidential elections“is good news from those MMD cadres.

I also need to see the MMD field a very weak candidate in 2011 so that they can be removed from running GRZ. Thus, let us all give the MMD false hope to let President RB Banda be their presidential candidate in the upcoming 2011 elections. Remember history repeats itself and what happened to former President KK can still happen again to Pres. RBB.

Nice call from Eastern Province and please make sure you vote at the Convention too instead of just talking on the media.

  2. These youths are dreamers. This is just 7 months running, which part of Thole’s small brain tells him that RB “was the only one who could continue with developmental programmes for the country.”. Sam Thole and his hooligans can keep on dreaming.

  3. What has Rupiah done so far to warrant calls for his re-adoption? This guy will ruin us,lets not entrust him with ruling this country again in 2011.

  4. Come on guys , get real. RB is just a transitional leader, let this term go and let other people who are credible do the work. RB is getting old. Please stop this BS of RB standing in 2011, as much as i respect him and his ability to keep the country going at the moment. This is why we lag behind its about time we had real elections the previous leaders have been put their by someone appointing them, e.g our late leader was CHiluba’s idea then RB came through due to circumstances that followed. I am sure there are other intellectuals out there but all we need is someone to stand up to the challenge in a responsible manner. Its time to move forward

  5. This man RB is a tourist. He is ever trotting between countries. His commitment to the fight against corruption is non existent. So far, this man is a failure and just taking the nation into deeper waters. He can only be supported by people like Tole.

  6. RB is a goner ,let him be adopted so that he is embarrassed in 2011.The support can only come from people like Tole

  7. 2011 is in the Distant future. There is alot of work to be done in the interim. This is a waste of time and resources and futile politicking.

  8. The power of incumbecy made George bush(2nd) win a second term by landslide victory. MMD is arguably very experienced party. while some opposision parties are good at pooling crowds they have never mastered the art of the ballot. whike the opposition are busy on radio phenix and in the post MMD is getting endorsements from peasant farmers(national food producers), marketeres(national food distributors) ward chairmen,(facilitators) and chiefs(custodians of the land on which the peasant cultivate). we are yet to see who is a master at the ballot the battle lines have been drawn betwween the post and RB. All is it the corporate executive and the peasant farmer.

  9. Thole, are you sure of what you are saying? I hope you are not creating your own Siulapwa. Let this man prove that he can be a good president by giving him time to manage the nation. He is only seven months in presidency and you are already endorsing him, for what I wonder and you are the type of youths we have in Eastern province. If you have nothing to say and do please try and get yourself some rest at his farm, maybe it will do you good than embarassing yourself publicly supporting what you don’t even understand as a youth.

  10. Yes the right man for 2011 is RB if you want MMD to lose and your interest is to finish off the country but if its development and all that matters then Magande is the Man.Don’t experiment with the country your childrens lives are at stake. What has RB done for you and your Children that you still want him to continue even after 2011.Ask yourself before you go indorsing RB What has he done? Does he look like he has a plan or is he just going with the flow.Don’t gamble your life and that of others.
