Share

The World Food programme (WFP) says more people die from hunger than HIV and AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis combined.

WFP Country Director and Representative Pablo Recalde says the worst affected are women and children.

Addressing Journalists in Lusaka today, Mr. Recalde said there is therefore need to raise awareness on the high levels of child hunger and malnutrition in Africa, Zambia inclusive.

He noted that about one billion suffer from hunger in the world, with people in the south sub-Sahara being the worst hit.

Mr. Recalde emphasized the need to strive to fight child hunger and malnutrition by increasing productivity of the country.

And Food Programme Management Unit, FPMU, Acting Programme Manager Dorothy Sikazwe said more emphasis should be placed on eradicating child hunger.

  1. Interesting facts. So the widespread news that AIDS is Africa’s nambala 1 killer is only propaganda?

  2. Its not propaganda its only that people with HIV live longer with good nutrition. so one may die with hunger but AIDS driven. Big Moze where r u

  3. Yesterday it was HIV/Aids, today it is hunger, tomorrow it will be Malaria the number one killer in Africa. Africa is just a playing ground, you can come up with anything and make some $$ for yourself. African want others to think for them, and tell them what to do.

  4. Information never remains the same. And the fact that the WFP urges scribes to raise awareness on child hunger, its WFP discovery and i think we need to support the call. Am about to undertake an entrepreneurial fundraising and awareness project and wouldn’t mind contributing in way though small. I will visit your office and be advised how i can incorporate child hunger awareness message. 0968-110-000.
