Soccer fans in the country say the reduced gate charges for the Zambia-Rwanda game are still high for the ordinary soccer fans.
Zambia Voluntary Soccer Fans Associations (ZAVOSOFA) Patron Peter Makembo told ZANIS sports in an interview that the K30, 000 gate fee for the open wing was still high.
Makembo added that Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) should have taken into consideration the job cuts in the country and also the location of the stadium when determining the charges.
He said many supporters are now retrenched and will be coming from different parts of the country and will also need to provide their own accommodation and food.
He said due to these factors soccer fans had expected FAZ to allow free entry for open wing or reduce it even further than they have.
“That was the reason we had written to President Banda to consider us the soccer fans enter the stadium for free to cheer our national team” he said.
He has however commended government for coming to the aid of the soccer fans by appealing to FAZ to reduce the gates charges although they still remain high.
FAZ announced that it had revised the gate fees for the open wing for Saturday’s 2010 Africa/ World Cup qualifier against Rwanda at Konkola Staduim in Chililabombwe.
Sports , Youth and Child Development minister Kenneth Chipungu said FAZ held consultations with his ministry following the outcry from most soccer loving Zambians.
Chipungu said government has commended FAZ for its swift and positive response in the interest of the soccer loving Zambians who he said cannot afford the initial gate fees.
And ZAVOSOFA has implored the chipolopolo boys to fully utilise home ground advantage to score more goals during their clash with Rwanda and Algeria.
He said Zambia should also take advantage of the opportunity to open up a seven point lead by wining their home games.
ZANIS
Iwe let them go in free and take some of those billions stolen and pay faz kwasila
Imwe banthu, why do like free things kanshi? FAZ needs to raise money, ka. If anything, if i had the power, i was not going to reduce the original price. Munwina shinga per day?
You lazy bastard if you are a genuine soccer fan, the best way you can support the team is by buying a ticket. How do you expect FAZ to raise revenue if they start to allow everyone to enter for free. There are alot of ma pieace work that one can do in zambia and raise the needed 30pin. The problem in zambia is we have become so lazy that we want to be given everything for free. Almost everyday on tv there will be someone or some group paraded b4 the camera asking government or well wisher to help them.
We can not afford to get free things all the time pastor . FAZ needs the money
U like va mahala koma moba mugula! Useless. The same retrenched and jobless people he is talkin about get drunk everyday. Now its time for constructive ‘de-stressing’ and they want it for free? Awe!
imwe let them go in free and let them pay faz using some of those billions they toook from kapo`s
The problem here is the minister. He is using the match to gain political mileage. its childish for him to attack Faz and Kalu so openly in the media like that. There is nowhere in the world were you would find a football match to so cheap, when people go to drink they spend more than 50pin and more over those who can not manage it will be there on TV.
Thats the problem with these ministers. Everything is politicised. Let him use his own money to pay for those who cannot afford, ala!
We love free things forgeting that running soccer is more expensive than maintaining a chicken run. these guys complaing spend more than 200k Kwacha on beer and hules in one day. You admire EPL soccer because massive funds are every being pumped in. Improve your own game too by spending some money on it. Who do you think will pay players allowances.
He Ordained Pastor Makembo?.I think he is wrong chap altogether to be pastor, coz,Im sure his flok are always told to bring gifts on Sundays during service. He is very lazy, and a criminal
people of Zambia i thought mr kaunda went with his free things.let as help the faz and their bad employees who are busy performing national duties and eating tax payers money.for me even if it was free i cant wast my time to go and watch them play.
#1 and #3: Yet we don’t like free things but we should look at the economy of the country and how much people get. Don’t expect a teacher who get K600pin to pay K100pin mukutamba bola. Kapoko and ministers can afford not an ordinary Zambia, who has not job. Mwilalanda fye for the sake of talking.
No wonder we don’t have good stadiums in Zambia because of the same chaps as this pastor and I wonder for what. How are we going to maintain the same stadium if games are for free ? who pays those working at the stadium ? Vamahala vinata kale. Pastor watch the game from home if you don’t have the 30 pin please than making unnecessary statements
#10, Its not for the sake of talking! people can afford to pay anything to watch zambia play. Walibatambapo ba Zambia iwe bushe? These same soccer fans drink more than fifty pin a day. Be realistic. Thats why standards of soccer pa Zed will never improve and FAZ will be a perpetual begger!
LT, that comment is valid!! What are you talking about??
Namulambe Shud Stop Attacking Kalu And Faz Twapapata Pilizi ! ,This is Football Not politics , moreover, Namulambe is too small a boy to be attacking kalu okay.
Ukutemwa free things, ask the minister to pay for u
The Price is just ok its even too low nowing wat faz has to pay for using the same monies the will collect. Anyway I WILL BE THERE — LETS GO ZAMBIA LETS GO
#12, it is 50pin, and this is once in a while, it’s not like an everyday thing. if once in a while you can’t even afford to pay for a 50pin ticket, then you have an option of watchin it on tv. kulibe vamahala baba.
if you cant afford it. mukatambilefye pamulabasa. yangu!!
This pastor makembo guy is a wrong chap altogether with his funny association.he is always in the habit of appealing to the president,am suprised this time around he has forgotten.let those who can afford watch after all it’s not a charity match.
To make matters worse, you just a Voluntary soccer fan!! whats your problem?
Faz must have done its home-work well to arrive at thoz fares and every socer-loving Zambian/Rwandez shud suport them. The President shud be left out of this; he haz done well enough to ‘ help’ Faz raise some money here and there. Thoz who can, pliz troop to Konkola Stadium en-mass while others cheer from the television. S.A 2010 here we come!
I think our minister went offside by attacking kalu like that in public. I am not sheilding Kalu but he should know protocol. Like we have always said FAZ presidency is a part-time job. He does not expect Kalu to be at FAz house from 8am to 5pm. The only people who should do that is the General secretary. Besides if Kalu is not around Hon. Munaile fills the boots. There is also the media officer Eric Mwanza who is always on call.. Even when Kalu is not in Zed the phone is always accessible via Eric.
I also wonder why he prouds himself that they fund FAZ.
how much is it ?
When Koffi comes for K300pin people just go in their numbers. When it’s time to pay DSTV so you can watch the english premiership you don’t complain now it’s time to watch live soccer ati nyo nyo nyo sha… sit home if you don’t want. Kano nga kunwina beer na hule you spend happily. Get lost this is not socialism, humanism where you get things for free.
Jeez, which planet does this Makembo come from? Free entry? Is he crazy?
ukutemwa ifya mahala bafikwesa bamo. And doesnt he realise that this could lead toa stampede.
Ubuwelewele Ba Pastor Kembo
Iyo kwena Pastor nga abelenga ama comments, takabwekeshepo nakabili ukalalanda pali ifya free! Pantu guys……hmmm mwavoka mwe!
I would rather watch esther phiri b ecause i know that if she loses it will be her to suffer the pain of being punched.
I hope you don’t or will never abandon your kids just because they have failed exams!
I think the Minister is a danderhead. If he has a quarrel with Kalusha the days before the match are not the right time to attack FAZ. The team needs morale You can attack Kalusha after these games. Think Mr Politician for nothing. Reducing the prices also means attracting more people in a stadium without the capacity. This causes stampedes and people die.
