Government has refuted media reports that June 23rd is a Public Holiday.
Secretary to the Cabinet, Joshua Kanganja says although Zambia has been commemorating 23rd June as Africa Public Service Day since 2008, the day has not been declared a public Holiday.
Dr. Kanganja says 23rd June 2009 is a normal working day.
He has denied a statement that appeared in yesterday’s Daily Mail newspaper stating that Tuesday 23rd June, 2009 Africa Service Day is a Public Holiday.

Iwe kanganja let pipo rest, after all you are under paying them ala!!
thats the problem with zambians, we dont like working instead of making money you are crying for holidays
Black Mamba likes holidays… no wonder our people are lagging behind in most positive things.
iyo bane mwitukauka sana. What difference does it make, holiday or not a holiday? In my own understanding holidays were meant to be enjoyed especially by the people who are in schools/colleges/universities and the working class but if you don’t belong in that category then kaya.I mean for most of the people in zambia now it has always been holiday from monday to sunday becaused they have either been pruned or on recess. So ,folks, let’s not raise our voices over the worthless holiday.
no 4 i agree with u,ni pa point nizee!!
