Boxing coach Mike Zulu said his boxer Charles “Wasaja” Chisamba did everything right despite losing to Doudou Ngumbu in their WBC International and Africa Boxing Union (ABU) light heavyweight unification fight in France last evening.
Chisamba lost on unanimous points decision to the DR Congo-born French boxer in their unification title bout held in Auch.
Zulu said that that Chisamba had a slow start in the fight that also contributed to the loss.
“The only thing that went wrong was that we lost,” Zulu said.
“Technically everything went fine although he (Chisamba) started on a slow pace.”
27-year-old Ngumbu, who is ranked 11th by WBC, is now undefeated in 20 professional fights after he recorded his 11th victory over 12 rounds.
Ngumbu defeated Chisamba after scoring 120-107, 120-108 and 120-107 on the judges scorecards.
The 37-year-old Chisamba, ranked 34 by WBC, is now on 7 wins, 6 six losses and 1 draw from his 15 professional fights following Fridays defeat to Ngumbu.
Chisamba lost his ABU title just 7 months after claiming the crown following a 2nd round knockout win over Tanzanian Mbaruku Kheri on January 24 at Nationalist Stadium in Lusaka.
Mwalicita mwino ukumuma. He was in paper all the time claiming victory.
Don’t say he started slow thats why he was beaten…just accept defeat and train hard next time.
his record is not impressive.
Too bad mwaiche, taba kusolve bond ku PHI
# 1. you should improve both your bemba and english
numbala one all i have to say about your sentence construction is; YABA!
Does anyone know if this Mike Zulu here is synonymous with the NGO activist who was quite outspoken under the Chiluba regime? Just curious.
What sort of a coach is this??? you lost mambala, it means that something was wrong in comparison to your opponent. It is only after we accept that something is wrong with our approach to something that we can make a change or improvement. It does not help Kuzibova. You will just continue losing and keep telling yourself that everything is fine with your approach.. “only a fool leans upon his own misunderstandings”..
There is a big gap in ranking. we should not expect a win out of blue.
The guy was clobbered and I should say he is no where near the late Lottie Mwale. I watched the bout and I used to watch Gunduzani, and should say the difference between this useless chap and Lottie is like the difference between Victoria and Lumangwe falls. Lottie Gundu RIP, we will never forget you
too bad man..work hard next time.
Coach Mike Zulu’s statement that on the technical side all went well despite his boxer Charles Chisamba’s loss to Ngumbu in France is bulshit. The coach should have ensured that the boxer from round one took on the guy punch for a punch unlike waiting for him to pick up in round 6. That was a technical error. In boxing whilst aiming for for killer “PUNCH” one should amass points in case …. Mloreover the guy Charles at 37yrs should think of retiring from professional boxing and turn to coaching. Looking at his track record its not impressive by international standards.
#7 That is a different person. Zulu for NGO and stuff like that is somewhere in Sudan working for the UN. I made contact with him some 6 months ago or so. This coach at one time tutored the late Lottie Mwale he’s gud coach by local standards not beyond our borders. Thank u.
I think this should teach Zambian sports men that boxing is fought and won in the ring and not in the post, always claiming you will win. Biased reporting on the part of Local journalists is what gives these sports men false hopes. Mukepaisha abenenu bamambala.
i was at the fight in AUch (France). Chisamba tried but the congolese (french to be) was stronger. We were only 4 zambians supporting the guy against more than 600 french who were for their Ngumbu. So you see we were outclassed everywhere!! But I believe Wasaja can do better next time with the exposure he got. Let us not juge so fast. After all he is a good guy as I talked to him personally after the fight. He is determined
