ACTING MMD spokesperson Mike Mulongoti has said that church leaders should stop attacking Government ministers otherwise the ruling party might be forced to hit back at them.

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Mr Mulongoti said the MMD is saddened that some church leaders have continued to attack ministers instead of giving spiritual guidance to political leaders.

“As a party we are saddened by the conduct of some church people. Even some bishops have continued to attack ministers instead of giving spiritual guidance to political leaders,” Mr Mulongoti said.

He said such church leaders cannot continue attacking Government ministers and expect the MMD not to react.

“It cannot be fair for bishops to be attacking ministers. They cannot go on calling ministers names when we have the capacity to fight back as politicians,” Mr Mulongoti said.

He said the MMD regards church leaders with respect and that it would not want to attack them as doing so would negatively impact on their dignity.

Mr Mulongoti warned that if church leaders go on with the attacks, his party will treat them as politicians.
He said church leaders should not abuse their leadership positions but use them to guide people spiritually.

Meanwhile, the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) reports that the Authentic Advocates for Justice and Democracy says church leaders should desist from acting on impulse on matters of national interest.

In a statement signed by general secretary Laiford Mwanza and information and publicity secretary Josephat Changwe, the organisation says church leaders should invariably take time to deeply study and comprehend any Government statement before making comments.

They called on the Catholic Church to lead by example other than waste time castigating the Government on purely political issues.

They called upon the Catholic Church to unreservedly apologize to the Government for their unwarranted and unjustifiable attacks on Government leaders.

” This is sensible from Minister Mulongoti but I ask him to check out the vatican and the POPE if he is to understand wheter the Catholic Church is into spiritual guidance of people or trying to lead the world in politics combined with religion — a thing the US Constitution clearly separates (i.e., politics and religion can not be mixed together for the duty of the church is spiritual activities).
    Be blest all.

  3. The government is worried about it’s nationals speaking out because the rulers have something to hide. Fear nothing if you are clean.

  4. Politics and Politiking are two different issues. Let us learn use the terms correctly. Politiking is necessarily for politicians but no body should be denied access to politics.

  5. Mr Michael call-me-Mike Mulongoti, criticism is the oil of democracy. Without it, the machine grinds to a halt. The more the criticism, the more efficient our democracy, and hence governance, becomes.

  6. Iwe Mike, hit back at who? Shame on you! You sound like a primary school bully! When you chose to become a politician, you should have know that public figures are subject to scrutiny from all citizens. If you can’t stand the “abuse” we will glady accept your resignation Mr. Power Mike. You, Teta and Shikapwashya are the biggest loud mouths in the MMD, you need to learn to shut up sometimes!

  7. Mulongoti, hit back at the church? Iyo nomba elyo MMD yafulungana. Hit back at the church what kind of unholiness is that?

  8. Too many tuntemba associations in Zambia- obviously sponsored by the government.
What is this Authentic Advocates for Justice and Democracy? Committee of Citizens (CC)? New Generation Party ?
They all have the same message so why not just merge and have a bigger voice?

  9. ESU Nursing School director commits suicide

    Written by Bivan Saluseki

ONE of the directors of ESU Nursing School in Lusaka, Joshua Ushibantu Simpaya, has committed suicide.

Simpaya, who was an employee of the Ministry of Health, committed suicide on Saturday around 09:00 hours and the funeral is at his home off Chilumbulu Road near Looters in Lusaka.

Police spokesperson Bonny Kapeso yesterday confirmed Simpaya’s death.

Kapeso said Simpaya is believed to have drunk a poisonous substance.

Simpaya was being investigated over billions of public money which were paid to the nursing school housed in Chudleigh, Lusaka.

The school is reported to have received over K7 billion just in 2008, on the pretext that it was training government nurses, midwives and clinical…

  10. I forewarn pundits and all indoctrinated cadres here that the Development with the ESU Nursing Director, is exactly where Fred Mmembe is heading to.Three times now within last few months, Mmembe has made attempts on his life.I will not be shocked to hear he has loaded some 9mm caliber pistol bullets in his own head.Unless protective security is mounted, Mmembe is bound to commit suicide. His hopes survive through subverting the Banda administration he has realized has hit a snag. You know RB is a veteran educated hard tested liberationist not convertible or prone to Fred’s culture of manipulation strategy through insults.

  11. They won plunders opportunity years under Mwanawasa from whom they got ZA using insults.Seemingly such strategy has backfired when tried on Rb. It is not paying off with RB who is a typical educated and experienced Political economist. That is the headache of Sata another UNIP school of system politics. Its hard to wreck UNIPists. It takes years and loses.

Not surprised that Mmembe has now resorted to some attempts on his own life after realizing that MMD and RB are in a long social contract with Zambians to serve.Efforts to stir a revolt have left Mmembe over exposed and frustrated beyond dignity.Option is suicide.

  12. What is political guidance ?What sort of advice can the Church give this rulig party apart from the correction they are receiving?

  13. @ Mulongoti: “attack ministers instead of giving spiritual guidance to political leaders”. The problem with our govt officials is they see criticism as an attack.
By the way did Chiluba just criticise his own acquittal. Check this link out: w w w. postzambia.com/content/view/12746/ (mind the gap in the Ws). In the same article he looks to be admitting that he did campaign for President Bwezani in Luapula in exchange for his acquital. Anybody else read between the lines? By the way quick Qn: Supposing Rupiah Banada wins the next elections in 2011, will he be considered to be in his 2nd and last term? What does the Constitution say: 2 full terms or what? I’m talking about the fact that he replaced a dead president already in serving a term. If there’s ambiguity let’s fix it now.

  14. Kaili he’d rather open his cake-hole instead of working. Typical day in GRZ, can we move on?

  15. I do not know whether its just me but most of the MMD ministers look obviously sickling! Look at Kunda, Tetamashimba, Mulongoti, Shikapwasha, Banda himself etc. The cost of sustaining these parasites alive, for whatever ailments they have that even Morningside seems incapable of curing, is hemorrhoidous to limited state coffers. On health grounds, as most Zambians would say, some people need to give way.

  16. #20 – Sorry but I am inclined to disagree with you. In that photo Mulongoti seems all hale and hearty to me. Look at that full head of hair! Adyela muguyz.

  17. imwe ba Power mike Mulongoti you put it like “the church leaders ” have declared war on the Ministers! The church leaders are being responsible citizen trying to hold the government responsible. And this is called Democracy , where freedom of speech is the most important weapon the participants have. So just answer the people. They are your employers regardless of political affiliation. Do not just fire back because some of you ministers do not know how to aim and please no blind firing!

  18. Jigga, it is RB’s last term. Then AG and Minister of Justice George Kunda cleared it up before the 2008 presidential elections

  19. In reality Ministers are public servants…they are Ministers to serve us. As such people from all walks of life should feel free to critically analyze their performance, and make comments. Church leaders are human just like Ministers and all of us !

  20. Guess who’s back? The worlds undisputed loud mouthed iron MIKE MULONGOTI ! Piece of advice boss don’t get started with the Church especially the Catholic Church…in numbers they have a huge following world wide and in Zambia too…so you are at liberty to hit back at them but they will hit back at you even harder……I think as Minister of Works & Supply(where no work is done and no supplies are made) you understand numbers!

  21. Mike-examine yourself and the criticism given by the Church leaders before you arm your defense. you should also ask yourself the spirit behind the criticism from church leaders; is it meant to embarrass or its meant to remind and correct? The guilty are always afraid.

  22. Sorry sir we donot attack ministers but want them to do their ministerial duties with efficiancy. and to have in their minds that their pay comes from taxpayers money, in fact there is no gorvernment money as such but Zambian taxpayers money

  23. Written by Maria Mwanza, Lusaka
There is a feeling of despair, anger and fear with regard to what is unveilingbefore our eyes. We, as a nation, have sunk back to the era associated with draconian rule, intimidation, threats, violence, patronage, mediocrity – the list is endless.
My advice to fellow citizens is that we shouldn’t look to the courts for justice, but we should look to God for He falters not on his word and promises. He enthrones and dethrones kings.

We should not despair because before dawn comes the darkest hour. We are at the threshold of dawn. The misrule we are all witnessing from President Rupiah Banda and his government is reminiscent of the darkest hour before dawn even as experienced by the children of Israel before Pharaoh could set them free (Book…

  24. The misrule we are all witnessing from President Rupiah Banda and his government is reminiscent of the darkest hour before dawn even as experienced by the children of Israel before Pharaoh could set them free (Book of Exodus). God deliberately hardened his heart so that his downfall would be so final and the victory for the children of Israel so triumphant. He finally let them go at a great pain and cost to his people.

I see the MMD government as that of a Pharaoh refusing to listen to the voice of reason, basking in the thought that their rule is eternal, hiding behind the power that the office affords rather than behind the power of the people, taking comfort in the thought of a win in another sham election victory, finally mistakenly taking comfort in the thought that they are…

  25. Pharaoh must have had similar thoughts, I can imagine!

And so I think that what we are witnessing in Zambia is the curtain fall, not raiser on MMD rule. Perhaps what we need as a nation is to find Moses and Aaron quickly.

  26. Mulongoti’s little orifice is once again talking shits which hardly passes through his brain for them to be screened,Priests and Bishops will soon start receiving beatings from the MMD cadres!

  27. Ba Mike mulelyafye. Mind u the Catholic Church is far much organised than the MMD as a party. I dont even know the people u represent in parliament and which part of zambia u come from at least Shikapwasha is truced back from Kembe but u just shut up and enjoy.I dont even know whether Obama’s security will allow u stand 1m away from Obama because u are a spoiled politician. Even if a Zambian monkey strayed in Congo DR I wouldnt recommend that u go to Congo DR on a deplomatic mission to rescue that monkey like Clinton in Korea and Senator in Bama coz u are a spoiled little politician

  28. I agree with #20 viva shaka. These characters are depleting our kofas. They have something in common; smily whitish and sometimes redish dry mouths speaking nonsense. I fill sorry for their secretaries in the morning

  29. This is my benchmark, and I mean it. I will never stop attacking them as long as they keep misbehaving like in the case of Sichilima in Chitambo.

  30. What advice can Mulongoti get from the Church?.They failed to listern about the constitution, and went ahead to for CRC which is draining our moneys. So,ka Mulongoti’s mouth is stinking,I hope he dies soon like his friend Teta. All Big mouths ,including Shikapwasha will die quickly, coz they use lies to decieve God’s people.Chiluba too,is too sick,I think he is terminally ill.

  31. We will continue attacking if they don’t do the job right,if it’s too hot in the kitchen, then get out!these jobs are not personal to holder,we will ramp up the criticsim until you bow out or improve…………
