Luswanga condemns UPND at Kulamba Kubwalo

Kulamba Kubwalo Cultural Association Chairman Boniface Luswanga has condemned United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres for politicising the traditional ceremony.

The cadres clad in UPND chitenje materials thronged the main arena chanting party slogans and flashing party symbols as their party president Hakainde Hichilema advanced to present his donation.

This was during the Kulamba Kubwalo traditional ceremony held yesterday at Senior Chief Mukuni-ngombe’s palace.

Mr. Luswanga in an interview said it was unfortunate that the cadres politicised the forum.

Mr. Luswanga who was speaking on behalf of Senior Chief Mukuni-ngombe condemned the UPND cadres in the strongest terms saying next year, the cadres risked being barred from attending the ceremony.

He pointed out that the Kulamba Kubwalo Cultural Organising Committee would next year only invite senor party officials whom he described ‘mature’.

Earlier, the Master of ceremony of the Kulamba Kubwalo advised the cadres to remove their chitenje materials but the cadres cheered saying no to the directive.

“I wish to register my profound disappointment on the behaviour of UNPD cadres who politicised Kulamba Kubwalo traditional ceremony. Next year we shall only invite the party president and other senior officials and not cadres. Senior Chief Mukuni-ngombe is very disappointed with the behavior exhibited by the UPND cadres,” he lamented.

President Banda was represented by Vice President George Kunda at the 2009 Kulamba Kubwalo traditional ceremony of the Lenje people of Central province.

  1. Luswanga u are also wrong for allowing ZESCO buses to ferry MMD cadres to kulamba kubwalo and who is paying the bills in those Lodges and hotels in chisamba for the chiefs ! chipepo, chief chitina, chief chibale,Chieftainess serenje and they officials, wives and children. Please ba luswanga amutulwite beshi bakalipile mali kuma lodges and hotels.Waiting to hear from you sir.

  2. Itsw the donors of course who do you are paying,we can even pay ourselves besides where do you think we take the money we got from fundraising

  3. Its the donors of course who do you think was paying for us? besides we can even pay ourselves, where do you think we take money we get from fundraising to? the problem with you is you think to much. Its our chiefdom and by law the lodge owner are obliged to accomodate us free of charge if they refuse we’ll tell them to move their bulding to somewhere

  4. If MMD cadres wear their MMD chitenge material at Kulamba kubwalo ceremony would he condem them?. The only problem i see is that the Tongas think they are superior than the other tribes whose langueges are similar to Tonga, hence such a behavior.

  5. UPND cadres should realise that politics should be seperated from traditional activities, as such events are done with a view to uniting the tribe history to the rest of the country and tribes in general. This act simply shows how premature and lack of respect for others UPND cadres could be. Kulamba Kubwalo should be regarded as a neutral venues to politicians who go there to simply show off their political colours.Let no one take it for granted that the BANTU BOTATWE grouping can have the same political idiology.People have choices to make based on agender not TRIBAL LINK.. Kulibonesha! mulakukomena lili mumano?

  6. Oh!! please this is common place at all traditional ceremonies. Be it in Bembaland, Ngoniland the prominent parties there take centre stage. Why not with UPND. I do condemn violence but whats wrong with them to stand and show solidarity with their leader. Am sure even those MMD cadres who were present supported Kundu when he rose up.

  7. Mr. Luswanga spare us the rot. Mr. Kunda was busy politicking but didnt say anything. Thats why i support those who say there is nothing culture left in these ceremony. chief muli suit yamutengo. Get your act right otherwise we the young Generation wont accept the nonsense.
