FPP welcomes fusion of Task Force into ACC

Share

The Forum for all Political Parties (FPP) has welcomed the move by government to fuse the Task Force on corruption into the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

FPP Chief Spokesperson Charles Kafumbo said the move by the government to fuse the Task Force on corruption into ACC is very timely.
He told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the move should be commended and embraced by all.

Mr. Kafumbo said this would allow the ACC to handle and deal with all the Task Force cases. He added that ACC would manage to handle and deal with all the cases as it has dealt and handled high profile corruption cases before.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kafumbo said the FPP strongly condemns the violence between MMD and PF/UPND during the filing of nominations in the Solwezi central by elections yesterday.

  1. I don’t know what this really means, but if it means bringing the Task Force under the bureaucracy of the ACC, an agency that reports to RB, then what do we have there? Every report will be subject to political scrutiny. Can we have professional people doing things right under the right environment – just for once? Look, we’ve lost confidence in the Judiciary, just like we lost confidence in the Executive and the Legislature a long time ago. Please, do not delete this.

  2. FPP for how long have you been in existence? Why dont you talk about things which afflict zedians such as fuel shortage, high unemployment levels ,bad roads, poor sanitatary conditions etc but all of a sudden you want to talk about fusing of the task force ito acc? How you sure Kafumbo that you did not receive the blown envelop either directly or indirectly.

  3. Its a long overdue decision. The Task Force mandate was too narrow. Its imperative that the ACC is strengthened in the same manner the Task Force had received support for it to be able to execute its mandate

  4. Its like everything that was started by Mwanawasa stinks in the eyes of ba Bwezani. I wonder whether he supported his boss whole heartedly or what mattered was bread at the end of the day. Where ever the late Mwanawasa is, he is regreting for having removed Nevers Mumba. Mwanawasa and Bwezani had two different aspirations, vision and leadership styles. The true Bwezani is now at play. Soldiers must be wondering what the hell is going on in Zambia

  5. # 7. Lets agree that certain things Levy did were inappropriate, therefore there is nothing wrong in RB adjusting/correcting those issues. For instance we all remember the 169 charges Levy laid on the table of the house to remove FTJ’s immunity, ultimately all those charges disapperead and a flimsy 500,000 dollars one was pursued. We all know how it ended. Therefore its incumbent upon RB whether we like it or not to build upon the good of Levy but at the same time discard the bad. Remember the Presidency in Zambia is too powerful an insitution. He has more infor than the rest of us.

  6. # 8 – so, what are you saying? That thieves shouldn’t be pursued? That the charges were false? That Banda should undo what?

  7. #8 Ndine. You got a point.

At the same time, seeing the Presidency is too powerful, Zambia should strip some of that power to prevent abuse. If the late LPM tabled charges that could not be substantiated, then we should guard against that happening again.
Power corrupts. Let’s protect the innocent as much as we must prosecute the guilty without fear or favour.

  8. where does this put my favourite Mutembo nchito? i think Iam behind, can or to be polite may someone shade more light on this please?

  9. Too bad to delete the TF. For sure we did not understand the vision or the spirit of the founder of TF the late LPM. Now empower the ACC in full and more man power is needed not 2 cats to chase 1000 rats its impossible.
