ZESCO Limited says it is still investigating the cause of the power surge that destroyed electrical appliances worthy millions of Kwacha in Chadiza District about two weeks ago.
ZESCO Senior Manager for Marketing and Public Relations Lucy Zimba told ZANIS in a telephone interview from Lusaka today that the cause was not yet known as investigations were still underway.
Ms Zimba said although she was aware about the incident, she was not in a position to shed light over the matter as she had not yet been availed with the details.
She said she would purse the matter with the Regional Manager for ZESCO Eastern Division.
Ms Zimba said Chadiza residents must be patient as the power company establishes the cause of the power surge.
She said ZESCO customers must take pre-caution measures such as switching off all electrical appliances when power is interrupted to avoid damage to their property.
Some Chadiza residents have petitioned ZESCO to explain the circumstances that led to the sudden power surge.
In a petition signed by the affected residents of Kanjala and Kanjala Extension Compounds, the residents, want ZESCO to find remedial measures for the damage caused to their property.
