Dreams of adding a cup title on his CV continues to elude Herve Renard after Zambia collapsed to lose 3-1 against Zimbabwe in this year’s Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup final on Sunday at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.
The win sees Zimbabwe seal a record 4th Cosafa Cup title win to leave, Zambia, South Africa and Angola on three each.
Though Zambia had gone one better to reach the final this year under Renard, they again failed to take full command of a game despite leading 1-0 in the 24th minute through Henry Banda.
Then Zambia collapsed defensively as they failed to deal with the power and composure of Zimbabwe’s Nysaha Mushekwi who breached a very faulty opposition defence twice in the 27 and 36th minutes.
Mushekwi’s attacking partner Cuthbert Malajila further exposed Zambia’s poor defending with a third on the stroke of halftime.
Zambia’s awful defending is something that even Herve Renard conceded in an interview with the BBC.
“Today we were not strong enough defensively and Zimbabwe deserved to win,” Renard told the BBC.
Zambia now head off to prepare for their crucial must-win clash against Rwanda away in Kigali on November 14 with Renard hoping luck will be on his side and see the team through to the Angola finals.
Stalemates Reign in Div 1 North
Nchanga Rangers and Mufulira Wanderers today played out to a stalemate at Shinde Stadium in their division 1 north week 30 game.
Rangers and Wanderers drew 0-0 to see the Chingola side rise just one notch from 56 to 57 points, four points more than second placed Nkana.
Nkana meanwhile, also drew 0-0 just 24 hours earlier when they also visited Mufulira to play Muchindu.
Tough luck, try next time. The game is about losing and winning. In fact Baba witnessed the match, do you expect the team to lose!
This man is just getting our hard earned kwacha converted into dollars for nothing!! Coaching jobs are perfomance-based or is it result-oriented,unfortunately,we have seen none.We failed to qualify for SA 2010.Kalusha should just swallow his pride by firing his preffered PE teacher and he will still be Great Kalu.We still value his selfless contributions when he was a player. No one will take that from him.
our hard earned kwacha? who is payng his salary again?
Renard must go, its absolutely clear that he has failed with his coarching styles.
“twalibelela ukulusa talala wemwana solola bie” Damn i like that song as it can be used to describe the performance of our national team.
Vikashupa vashupa…….Zed should just call it quits on soccer. Lets try other games.
I do not put the blame on the coach but the quality of players he has to contend with. Zimbabwe played purposely to win while Zambia had a casual approach. Zambia played like we were not in a final but rather in a league set up where there is a possibility for a return game. We were simply not up to the big task at hand. Bravo to Zimbabwe for hosting and playing well to lift the trophy. The showed great character to come from behind and torment our defence with ease. They for once reminded us of the Zim Dream Team of Peter Ndhlovu and Bruce Globerlaar. For Zambia is back to the over used drawing board.
I was full of confidence that the Chipolopolo would win Cosafa Cup for a 4th time record. Anyway Zimbabwe deserved to win they outplayed us. Now I donnt kknow how the Waspis will be contianed at home.
No Renards Anything!!!
Renard nafilwa incito. Nganikubasungu nganikatwishi. Ala naleya.
Zimbabwe outclassed Zambia in all aspects,we aint just talented enough to compete. All we know is peace peace and christian nation but we have nothing to show for it
Next you will be in KAGALI .It’s either you make it to Afcon or come back with a Zero only to be watching serious teams playing on the TV screen while you sit drinking chibuku.
It’s a pity this what the boys have repayed R.B and soccers fans who have supported them all the way through.
Its just good that the guys have failed to do their duties after all they are bad workers performing national duties and geting tax payers money.this time we will be the same NO MONEY FOR ALL.
If we shud falter in Kigali and fail to go to Angola2010, suggest we take a break from international engangements for 2 yearz and work on local futbo at all levelz starting from Primary (or iz it Basic) Schoolz. Go on my Brave Rangerz, there iz no turning back just win and win and win.
Wat next, fire Renard? No lets get back to the drawing board, Perhaps this time fire the whole team…Start a new team without loosing players. Look beyond the premier league borders, after all we might jst discover another Makinka Derby, my favourite late player.MHSRP.
The defence realy let us down. And this is the same defence we are going to have against the WASPS (AMAVUBI) !!! It scares the wits out of me. We may not make it to Angola.
#6 I totally agree with you. We just need to accept that tuli fimakula period. We have wasted too much money on these boys but to no avail. We need to concentrate on other sports. Who knows we may have heroes out their who can take this country to greater heights. For instance the Argentines found solace in tennis when Juan Martin Del Potro won the US Open. This was at the time when their country was finding it difficult to make it to South Africa 2010. Thank goodness they finally made it! We’ve put all our eggs in one basket for too long.
We should not blame the Players, the Coach is to blame. He is the planner of the game, he is the General who directs his soldiers and orders them to do the rightful thing. If it had been Phiri Patrick, we should have been calling for his blood. Rennard must go, he has failed to perform. Patrick was going to have done a good job. Kalusha is full of pride, let him swallow his pride and fire this guy. We will be embarrased yet again in Rwanda, just wait and see, then you will believe that this guy is a fake.
its sad that zambia lost .iam a Nkana supporter wishing my team to bounce back.i get more worried when Nkana have lost .Go Nkana Go
#13 That will mean bola going backwards 2 yrs. The problem has been FAZ. We dont have the right mix of men at Football House. The Kalusha lead admin better quit before the standards of the game goes into deeper waters. In any game though there must a winner and loser in our case it has been too much. Renard is the only coach in the world who has survived the chop despite recording many loses than wins. Our sports in general have gone down. Last month we had our boxer Charles Wasaja Chisamba battered like nobody’s business by that guy from Algeria. Three defeats to Algeria, Soccer and Boxing. In general our planning is far from achieving desired results. Politics ma insults, economy lack of this and that, Zesco power cuts every day. Ba Police kuvula ma suspects nakumenya ba kazi. Where to
i sure hope we dont make it to the africa cup of nations next year coz these fools are just busy eating the tax payers money.it will be a waste if we qualify to the nations cup coz these strikers that we have cant score goals and we’ll just be embarrased by the other teams if we go there.suk the coach and the entire squad and start from scratch.
Zambians lets see where the problems are ? we do nt have striokers that is the issue? it is not Renard to do that but all the coaches at club level. go back and see premier , tapali so what do you expect from Renard. he is a very good coach believe me or not. Zambia will never have such a coach if he goes. Lets also look at our Boys, they knew that Zim where are the cup very much. and after getting the score they should have sealed, but that doesnt come in their minds. it is not the Coach, he has give good instructions but fails to follow. It isd my advise to my fellow Zambians that let Renard stay and help to counsel our boys sarting form clubs so we can see a change. we dont have people to shoot like Jonson Bwalya and the likes how do you expect to win? Renard is right person to build.
No.17 you are very right dear.GO Kalampa GO Bounce back were you belong.Ba Afree should just relax and let Nkana bounce back.Good Luck Kalampa
we dont know anything.if nga ni ma by elections, we always hav enough money.there is no money for other projects.thats it
The government is to blame. If the team is called “National” team, why can’t the Ministry of Sports go out in the villages to look for players? Players who are tall and energetic. Why always depend on clubs without money to supply players to the national team. For me FUSEKI, I will not watch this national team again. How can we loss to a hungry nation like Zimbabwe……. It is an MMD National soccer team
Dont blem the coach it is high time the players started playing good football like the old days
Renar is a good coach but players are a problem. Kalu knows the good players but has decided not to call them for his own benefit. i dont think renar would have even known about Sinkala had it not been for the supporters.
That Renard guy is a physical trainer instructor, what team did he coach before coming to Zambia. That Bugger Kalusha was on a plan am telling you by bringin Renard.the dude’s getting K80 million for coaching the team, surely 80 million a month plus free gas for his HILUX and he cant even deliver a simple COSAFA CUP,what a shame.even Patrick Phiri wud have done a commendable job on that.
.wat has he done by the way?even cosafa u can’t fire that chap and bring someone else….
Is what you have in soccer really a ‘National’ team? Albert Einstein defined STUPIDITY as trying to do the same thing in the same way and expecting to get a different result.
Is what you have in soccer really a ‘National’ team? Albert Einstein defined S.T.U.P.I.D.I.T.Y as trying to do the same thing in the same way and expecting to get a different result.
NO RENHARD ANYTHING!!! Let’s just be honest with ourselves, we need No Renhard and No Kalusha as a first step in correcting our soccer. These two boys have the deal of sharing a coach’s salary, an extremely high one for that matter (by Zed stds), but with NO rsults in return. Now, let’s stop thinking Zambian Soccer is synonymous with them. We are killing a sport that has the potential of growing our economy. Just try checking how much investiment the West African soccer exports are pumping back into their countries, and also how they inspire their juniors to aspire for greater vibrations. The same is possible in this country, after all we taught most of these countries how to play soccer, and eventually how to mismanage our own, to their adavntage!
Namashilu yalishiba kuti , boolola ichimuti te chinshingwa iiyoo!
(even mad people know that you cant straighten a shadow of a tree but a tree!!)
mwilaninina ifimuti kumabula bane , bola panshi. you reap what you plant!
What can Lwandamina now say?? We are fed up of FALSE PROMISES.
The people have been calling for milanzi and clifford. It was chance to test their ability.Renard does not know zambian players and he is depending on others. He watches a game,he recommends and he includes him in the national team. Some are not consistent and can be proved a disaster.Sakala was an example.
i dont kn hw many times we wl be goin 2da drawin borad whnever we lose a game.
