Bar man explains Siavonga couple drowning

A Manchichi bay lodge bar man in Siavonga district has

revealed that the couple that drowned in the swimming pool last Friday was taking alcohol while conducting swimming lessons.

The bar man who was on duty on the fateful night disclosed to ZANIS this morning that late Mr Elijah Zulu a Zambia Revenue Authority customs officer and Zodie Dube a student of computer science at Evelyn Hone College were both drinking Savanna, an alcohol beverage.

The bar man who asked not to be named disclosed that the couple was ordering waiters to serve them with Savanna beer from the bar as they taught each other how to swim.

“ I was one of those people who were on duty on that day (Friday) and I remember getting orders of Savanna beer from waiters meant for a couple that was having a nice time in the swimming pool,” revealed the named bar man.

The bar man further alleged that the alcohol that the couple took could have had an effect on them and could have forced both of them to drown.

And commenting on the matter, Lusaka province police commanding officer Greenwell said the matter involving the death of the couple is subject to investigations by police.

“Police will carry out their investigations if the family suspects foul play but as am talking now the officer in charge for Siavonga has not given me a feedback apart from the earlier report of the death,” stated Ng’uni in a telephone interview.

Meanwhile, Siavonga district Council has given lodge and guest house owners in Siavonga District a seven days ultimatum in which to provide twenty four hours qualified swimming pool supervisors to avoid deaths occurring in swimming pools.

Council Secretary Ackson Habanji said the premise owners should also provide safety water floaters for their swimming pools for the use of those that are learning how to swim.

Mr. Habanji issued the ultimatum following the death of the Customs officer and his girlfriend who drowned in a swimming pool in Siavonga’s Manchichi bay lodge on Friday last week.

He said all lodge owners with swimming pools in their premises should register with the council in order to ascertain compliance and warned that failure to do so will call for legal action against them.

  1. I know how to swim but swimming while tipsy let alone drunk is deadly.I was once there in the Village. We crossed the river to another village for seven days(traditiona brew),alas, when coming back, the water levels had risen. It was kafwafwa.Thank God I was in company of experienced cousins.

  2. but it shud be mandatory for any public to have necessary precautions to avoid such incidences, why are they thinking of lifeguards now?? moreover, it shud be nationwide and not restricted to siavonga alone.

    MTSRIP

  3. Our councils will only act after a disaster & yet these are their daily duties. Why can’t we charge these council guys with criminal negligence or whatever the legal people call it. It is time people got penalized for not doing their work.

  4. How can alcohol “force” one to drown?? I was under the impression the pool area was closed and there were no staff on duty. If the pool was open to the public, do the lodge owners not have a duty of care ( to ensure that they have a life guard)? Legal brains out there, shed some light. Can they not be sued for negligence? Unless of perhaps there is a warning in the pool for people to only swim if they can. I once went for a swim at a Restaurant/lodge on Kabulonga road, after Kabulonga boys but before hiltop hospital. Chinese owner said if i wanted to swim i had to sign away any liability he had if i drowned because he had no life guard. Of course i signed and it seemed funny at the time, but i see his point.

  5. They know more than they are letting on. So why did they not help them if they were still working at the bar? First of all Savanna is not that powerful of an alchol-you need to drink maybe 15+ bottles to become sooooo drunk you cant even speak. And second of all no matter how drunk someone is whn survival instict kicks they will sober up in an instant! I heard of a gentleman, so drunk he decied to take a swim in a croc infested river-a croc did try to have him for a snack and to this day that man does not recall how he overpowered the reptile! Police question everyone, including the wife, relatives and friends. What they were doing was wrong though no buts about it.

  6. Seems like lodge owners are more interested in money than safety of clients, these are places which need visits by local authorities for unerdage children as well

  7. Now Evelyn Hone College had a protest against Sugar Daddy’s that come top trhe school for some extra piece of $#@% which i think is useless.

  8. I still can not believe this story… Alcohol can not be to blame for two people to die at the same time… you mean to say they were teaching each other to swim at the ‘deep end’?

  9. This is a wake up call to councils country-wide to ensure licencez are only issued after EVERYTHING haz been complied with. What withe mushrooming of guest houzes/lodges in almost every second street in rezidential areaz.

  10. The story sounds like a made up fiction. There is more to it than what what that waiter is saying. Savanna, I dont take alcohol but I have heard people saying its a ladies drink because its sweet and no man can go for it! Men pa Zed become sober in such situations like getting to the water or the some of them stupidily get the courage behind the wheels. Be salefye chilodge ichi.

  11. It is a serious problem when we have the daftest of fellows working for government and in councils. There is absolutely no way that hotel and lodge owners can be expected to have 24hr lifeguards on duty. I have swam in several hotels and beaches across a whole spectrum of countries. Lifeguards are only available during “normal working” hours. Anybody swimming in a pool or at a designated beach does that at their own risk. Provision of floats for people learning how to swim is not the responsibility of the lodge owners as they are not running a swimming school to provide lessons. These pools are made available for “leisure”. It is unfortunate lives were lost, but it was a result of the deceased irresponsibility and nobody else’s fault.

  12. No. 12 Mrs. T. Stevens ‘…. you mean to say ….’ that english has made me laugh like the words ‘buluzi’ and another local word used recently by one blogger. Dont mean to be rude, but i just had to say it.

  13. Mwanida at #14, this lodge is a lovely place. just take a trip down there once you are pa Zedi. Closing it is not a solution.. “Manchichi Bay lodge is a damn good place ” Savannah is a weak SouthAfrican/Portuguese wine and is being used as a scape-goat in this saga…..

  14. Nivana at #18, sorry I have lost you.. what do you mean?.. Buluzi is a nyanja word and yes it made me laugh…. Sorry if my english is ‘off line’.. its my second language learnt in class…

  15. #8 Sharp, alcohol affects people in different ways, so you cant judge on how much they had to take to be drunk. Not everyone gets tipsy at 15 some of us get drunk with just two. And we don’t know how much alcohol they took. Furthermore, no one has said that the drowning is blamed only on the alcohol. People are saying alcohol MIGHT have played a role in the incident. People drown even when they are sober. Personally, from the little information we have been fed with on the blog, i don’t see any sign of foul play, but then again i could be wrong. You are right though, a thorough investigation should be carried out, that is what police work should be about.

  16. No. 20 Mrs. Stevens T. i am sure you havent taken offence because i didnt mean to offend you, it just sounded funny and so i felt i should say it because i laughed just as lound (as you seemed to say) at reading ‘buluzi’. Neither am i perfect at the language my sister …

  17. So, you knew they were having swimming lessons and there was no official life-guard nearby. The business is partly responsible over their death. Forget about the relationship between the man his woman. The truth of the matter is the hote/lodge management are also answerable due to their negligency. The bar man has already confirmed management’s full knowledge of what was happening.

  18. 16. I cudnt agree with u mo. Guest houses, lodges are not in the business of providing swimming pools as the primary service but as a by the way leisure facility to the accommodation. Guest Houses are private property which one pays to enter and does so at owners risk. One uses their swimming pools at his/her own risk and the proprietors of these places should not be obliged to provide life guards. It is unheard of anywhere in the world other than at public swimming pools which have fixed operating hours for a life guard to be present. Let the guest house and lodge owners conduct their businesses in peace without unnecessary harassment arising out of this unfortunate event

  19. I cheat on my wife as well and I have three girlfriends (sorry I dont care what you say or think) but I would not dare play near water when we are taking booze. Kupwalala fye abana Elija Zulu naka Dubie akaiche. God punishes even while on earth!

  20. Imwe guys! Businesses are struggling everywhere! Shi ka fuma kwisa isha ku lipila ba ‘lifeguard’? A real Lifeguard will be a qualified fellow who will demand a decent salary. Unless ba ku la bika fye ka malonda pa ‘stand by’, na chi big poster saying, “SWIMMING IS AT YOUR OWN RISK!” Chapwa! Ba solva no ku solva! Takuli ubwa ku ‘suinga’ umunankwe!

  21. #21 Kaponyas Thanks have taken note…
    #26 Mwenye
The only reason you cheat is you will probably never feel the consqence of your cheating ie your wife will probably never leave you cus you are the bread winner. Its very arroang and disrespectful for you and your poor wife who carries and nurtures your children for you to even come on this blog and disclose such! Its not a competiton mate. Am sure Zulu had the same air of arrogance as you-where is he now. You create your own karma, what you are doing to your wife will come back to you and ur hules 9×9 to bite you in your ARVed a s s! Really you are an a*** who does not care what pain and humilitation you cause your wife. Sorry to say but hope you have the same fate as the man in story-you may not swim even your drink can choke you…

  22. to death…you can have a stroke while mounting one of ur three hules and suffocate her-so who are you to say you more clever than death or the cheating husband who met his rightful fate in the pool?
I have no regard for men who cheat and hules who open there legs for anything that moves. So whatever tragic fate they all find *THEY HAD IT COMING*. Why should we feel any sorrw for them when they were oblivious to the pain they were causing? Too bad dude…

  23. Savannah is a cider with about 4% alcohol. It is true swimming and alcohol have fatal consequences as we have read. Lifeguards have working hours too. Basically, only capable and strong swimmers should be allowed to swim at night at any resort in Zambia.

Poor widow must be at her wits’ end. Drowning is such a scary way to die, the struggle must have been awful.

  24. Whom did the girl tell that she was going to teach the man how to swim? Who saw that the man was under pressure from the water? What pressure in a swimming pool? Did anyone hear the two shout for help, or they were just discovered dead? Is the place so isolated that the two could have been the only Guests at the Lodge? Was there any eyewitness? These questions must be considered!!

  25. how can 2 people drown without anyone hearing them cry for help, where were the waiters who were busy bringing them alcohol. why is the police only going to investigate if the relatives cry foul playWe the LT bloggers cry foul play so please investigate or are you waiting for the president to tell you to investigate.

  26. This is a simple case of death by misadventure. it’s not good to be complicating simple equations. alcohol impairs your judgement regardless of if it’s wine, hard stuff or lagers. and by being reactive, we’ll be the only country on earth with 24 hour lifeguards. sometimes freak accidents happen, this was one such freak accident

  27. You bloggers hone is the right place to be where education standards are probably below par and leisure is the norm of the day.Do not blame Dube and Zulu, they are not the first to die on vacation or fornication.Lets be realistic here.First, the bar man was serving them beer,so it means he knew the state in which they were, second Dube was teaching Zulu swimming lessons ,so she swims. There you have it.Interrogate the barman and get evidence of what was in the beer .Maybe the beer was doped. The evidence by this time is gone.Do the porstmoterm on the bodies.Just get everyone’s bank details and the wife’s recent purchaces .Everyone involved’s phone records should be examined. There is more to this story than mere drowning when people are watching.

  28. Some body talk to me… does this mean the waiter watched the pipo drown or what???? this is really fishy, I thought there was no one around????These pipo were killed. M T S R I P…

  29. I remember watching porn which my friends said was made at hone.I was then at UNZA a very active member of the anti AIDs club.We were trying ways of curbin Landlords. We discovered a network of organised escort services which was been practiced unware by some students.A male or female student wiill take an unsuspecting but desperate female to a plush club, there she will be introduced to a Landlord who will kick off the date with expensive drinks and eventually end up exchanging numbers.Peer pressure is so active in the Zoo block that some girls can even sell their souls to the devil just to gain status ati balikwate phone N95,pathetic.My condoleses to the dead because their somebody’s children.Hone or Nipa should raise the accademic standards in order to screen off weak students

  30. From my humble experience with life saving in water, the probability of drowning of both the rescuer and the being rescued is high if the person being rescued is punicking.Probabbly zulu was kicking too hard resulting in the lady to lose control over the whole situation.

  31. #40 the waiters saw those pipo drownning but they are not good swimmers and are not trained to help near drowning pipo so they stayed away and these are brave soldiers we have no one wanted to be called a died hero apart from Zodie Dube a student of computer science at Evelyn Hone College, who was helping ba Eli to swim and could not contain pressure will be called a dead hero?

  32. Or maybe let me say that in a panic, drowning victims are likely to claw at rescuers and climb to the surface at all costs. So it is not wise to attempt a direct rescue of a conscious drowning victim without proper training.

  33. I am a sinner as well and I have no intention of ridiculing the two poor souls, but really cheating is terrible be it done by a man or a woman and it is only a matter of time that you get caught in something that is as bad as death. Just imagine u living with AIDS whilst your kids reach teen years and probably dying due to this devastating disease, a disease that has ravaged Africa like no other. Why would you want to do such a thing to your children, family just for the pleasure of the soul which you in fact belabour to hide? I see no foul play and for me it is pure death by misadventure.

  34. hmmm!!!!!! this matter raises a few eyebrows!!!!! i think we should call in csi for this one! bantu many things don’t add up!! the report said they police came for the bodies around 23 hrs knowing our men in green/brown the incident most likely occurred 2 to3 hours prior and if that is the case they must have been alot of people moving around and no one saw or heard nothing? but then again this is zed we jus going to blame it on witchcraft!!!!!

  35. The bar man saw these two fellows drowning, why didnt he call for help? Number 46 AIDS or no AIDS, kids or no kids, lets talk about how these poor people died. We all have issues. Dont try to look ‘clean’ when ur not.

  36. The Lodge is liable for the death of these two lovers. The lodge is suppose to have a life guard when people are using the pool, and secondly the Lodge is not to serve beer to the customers who are using the pool. The Lodge has a responsibility which they did not do. Now to the relatives of the two find good Lawyers and go after the Lodge their Liability insurance should be able to give you a handsome settlement. Please do this so other hotels can learn from this.

  37. If anyone on this blog knows the relatives of these two lovers please forward this message to their relatives, Otherwise their death will be in vain. The Lodge must be made accountable. There is enough evidence to press charges here even by the Police against the Lodge owners and the Manager on was on duty at the time of death of these two lovers.

  38. the zambian way of making decisions will never cease to suprise me.Does this mean that only t lodges in siavonga should have life guards and flooters and all those mentioned? What about other districts ,until the same happens?

  39. Awe mwandini this story subtracts a lot from the truth, to make the mattress wet or sorry the matter worse the police are waiting for further instructions from aba chibululu.I thot nchito ni nchito. Bwana mkubwa ba KAPOKOLA BANA ENDA KU SOLWEZI KUMA RIG. KU MA VOTE NDIYE KULINDALAMA. RIP.

  40. THOU SHALL NOT UNDARATE SAVANNA OR ANY OF THESE CIDERS.

TAKING THE CIDERS WHILST TRYING TO TEACH EACH OTHER HOW TO SWIM WAS A WRONG DECISIONS…WHAT LEAVES ME PUZZLED THOUGH, IS WHERE WERE THE BARMEN WHEN ALL THIS WAS HAPPENING.

AMA STUDENT YAPA HORNY (must read HONE) YYANSEKESHA.

  41. i just wondered wether there are any regulations that have been broken on the part of the proprietor??..i thought there should be do and dont’s of when customers can be served alcohol. The leson here is that of coming up regulations to prevent such unfortunate occurances in future. so that its not just a case of trying to ascertain what may have caused the deaths but equally what could be done in terms of uplifting safety standards. just as much as under age panters are a no no, the circumstances and condition of all others is essential. which government department has this jurisdiction?..its a question of policy formulation and enforcement..its obvious that there are no guide lines.because if there is then we want to know who ekse is culpable….”self regulation”?? I dont think so..

  42. #1 to # 54
You are all sinner. Warning only sinners should respond to this. Non sinner please i beg you to keep quiet. What would jesus have said about this story.

  43. If the gal knew how to swim and was teaching the man, i cant understand how or why she could not screem for help when things started going bad? did they die at the same time? I honestly do not comprend this drowning story. Its really sad for the families of these two people.

  44. There’s always a danger of drowning when swimming under alcoholic influence but this tragedy really leaves some questions unanswered. Sherlock Holmes would have confisticated that bottle of Savannah – it is the corpus delikti and should be re-examined.

  45. Its really sad and mosr embarrassing that two grown up adults can drown in a god damn swimming pool. It all goes back to our school curricullum, why is it that one must pass English to acquire a full certificate while no swimming lessons are given at any primary or secondary school in Zambia despite such a high number of people drowning every year? Imagine how stupid we were made to look when the whole entire Minister of Defence, Mpombo, was nearly drowned by a monkey, in a pool! It’s about time we enlisted those Loziz to teach us all how to swim because they seem to be the only ones in this country who know how to swim. Well Bwezani’s big “Swaziland” bongo can float him too, in Luangwa river.

  46. alcoholic beverages not allowed around the pool area. what happened to this warning/ order?
I think the the lodge management and waiters also have a case to answer

  47. Thats the african thing to always associate the death of an individual to someone. These people died from hypoxia period not all the insuanations being passed around.Time we learnt to accept how nature can act.If any foul play was involved it is chicken feed for the pathologist to tell if a person drowned or was killed before the assumed drowning.

  48. If my memory serves me right, in Zambia many places with swimming pools do not allow any one taking alcohol to swim. But the can be allowed to seat near the pool at disignated areas which would be about atleat 5 metres away. It is suprising that the bar man had even taken the savanna to the couple yet he knew and other too that fact.

  49. #60 – moderator….EJ was a former classmate for three years. I attended his funeral and it was dignified I must add. The poor widow was brave and made a moving speech. She said she owazs loved EJ and will continue luving him even in death. For some of us who knew him, he was really a very gud person but clearly not perfect like all of us. The EJ I knew never used to drink himself senseless…..It is beta for the police to look at all possibilities… lodges shud also improve on the security around pools as well. I often go to siavonga and i have seen pipo drink freely in swimming pools…….LET US LEARN FROM THIS AND AVOID NEEDLESS LOSS OF LIVES…..

  50. What ever the case Manchinchi Lodge should be sued for negligence. The should have provided a life saver. It does not matter whether one is an experieiced swimmer or not. After Mr. Zulu and Ms. Dube were their clients and enjoying themselves. There is nothing wrong for one to take a pick by consent and enjoy. Its unfortunate 2 lives were lost but what should not be forgotten is that most of the lodges even here in Lusaka main clients are married men who sneak in with young women for a round or two and overnight adventures.

  51. Here is some ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS: Colleges have weak entry requirements, so girls who have little or academic/moral qualifications end up being enrolled. Students who are truly focused on completing their studies should have no time for such distant trips just for casual COITUS.
The root to the problem is those student girls who want to reap from the weak male species. I have visited hone/nipa colleges before, there’s a serious problem there. The curriculum is so simple, that students are never at campus half the time. This incident throws into sharp relief that which has yet to be done by colleges administration.

  52. Sad news indeed it is. Well, whatever you do in the dark shall come to light one day and it is sad that it come out with two pipo dying. It is a lesson to us men never to take our siavongas(galfriends) for a swim, game croppin’, hide out etc for we never know what will happen…As for you siavongas out there kindly note that married men are married men ‘ mukazitukana’ when we approach you. It will save a life one day if that reject is put in place

  53. Why not take an autopsy to determine the levels of alcohol in their systems. Deep Waters are nusty places to have fun, even when its blazing hot. I bet this E. Zulu was a bit over weight and when he begun to go deep and drown, he panicked and pulled the gal down with him. These lodge owners are only interested in the benjamins-your safety and the valuables are yours to look after. I wonder why the gal had to do it anyway, if he had dosh why not hire a trained instructor! The gal for me would only have bdeen for the b#d. in the air conditioned and cozy room. Any way what ever happened is water under the bridge!

  54. Fellow bloggers, this is homicide. The circumstances surrounding the pair’s death does n’t just add up. They died in full view of people watching????? Something fishy about this tragic incident. Police get to be doing what you are paid for and not wait for the relations’ complaint. Investigate this matter to the core.

  55. you africans AIDS has nothing do do with the f*****g situation at hand. they were murdered its that simple. the police shud bring the murderers to book. its that simple and easy.

  56. Y preacautions now.Didnt the local authority know that they needed to enforce that by law until this time?Poor councils, owez reactive and not pro-active.For the Hone students,Y peotest when Sugar daddies are coming your girls invitation for a nice time.Is it mgt that invites them.take responsibilities for your own actions.i was once at UNZA and know that its not the VC and jis team to regulate who comes to pick which girl and for what..thats what adult education is all about.Protest about media regualtion by govt, economic mismangement etc and not your rubbish irresposibility. For the Lodge, where were the bar pipo when the couple was drowning? How come the the teacher also drowned and could not even shout for help.I drink..and Ian a swimmer, not just in a pool, but also on lake kariba.

  57. this gentleman is simply protectin the interests of his business..probably ther was no alchohol involved..i mean i usually take a dip after drinkin a whole bottle of jb whisky

  58. MTSRIP. My heart bleeds to their beloved families. However, with the little law I have, I suppose the lodge has an “exclusion clause” in their receipts and billboard near the swimming pool saying, “swimming is done at own risk.” This is normal practice and swimmers/guests are advised to avoid water if they cant swim.

  59. We Pon’t Or Not Life Still Goes On Their Will be More Stories Such As These Still Many More To Come [Safety Kulisunga We Mwine]

  60. I remember teaching my friends swimming at mindolo dam swimming pool in kitwe. you use shallow waters or where you can both stand and not be submerged in this case. The question is WHY TAKE A LEARNER TO DEEP WATERS IF HE OR SHE HAS NOT GRASPED THE ART OF SWIMMING? If anything you use floaters for somebody who is a starter. Tell us something else.

  61. dudes working for ZRA seems to have a lot of money .and because of poverty levels ,they behave like the can afford everything .that was a price the chap payed.the tax departments has no use for the ordinary zambian, because the money is spent on lodges and swimming pools, and on politicians.you can only try horse riding if u can afford it.look at the setup-a student of everlyn hone- a married ZRA officer away from lusaka at the swimming pool in siavonga.the overall performance of the country can not be detached from the individual behavoiur of people.we need to change the way we think ,all zambians ,especially in zambia

  62. I also smell a rat in this story, I first learned how to swim when I was thirteen and went to a school that had a swimming pool, I was given swimming lessons in a baby pool despite my size. How were these people allowed to do that at the deep end. Very puzzling

  63. Its sad that pipo dont note take life seriouly, i dont care who you are ,you can not miss bear with swimming. The owner of the logde should be help responsible for these guys death. The need to protect their pipo, at leatst warm them of the dangers. Families must start suing these companies. Sue the A—–s.

  64. We all do not know what really happened so I guess we should just learn lessons to this incident. Adultury can lead to death, as for the wife and family things happen, this man was their husband, father etc and he will always remain thier father or husband regardless of what happened.

  65. No. 83 Savannah, from your comments it seems you have taken a couple of your namesake (savanna) yourself, for example im sure you meant to say “you cannot mix beer with swimming” instead of “MISS BEAR WITH SWIMMING”. as if this mistake was not enough, you went ahead and wrote “WARM THEM OF THE DANGERS” – Shame on you!

  66. The wages of sin is death. I am not sure I can mourn such a husband. Too bad for his innocent children. As for him and her, its bone voyage.

  67. It’s not the first time a person is drowning in a swimming pool.if you dont know how to swim you drown.and if you who want to rescue a drowning person do not know how to go about out of desperation if he grabs you, you drown together so that was the case with that couple.there is no foul play whatsoever in there demise.it’s a case of insansa shinya ubulanda.ubuchende ebwabaletelele.obviously ka gelo kali akalowa ba guy balifulungene.he could do anything she asked him to do in order to impress.

  68. It’s not the first time a person is drowning in a swimming pool.if you dont know how to swim you drown.and you the rescuer if you dont know how to go about it in your pursuit to rescue out of desperation if the victim grabs you you drown together.so that was the case with that couple.there is no foul play.it’s a case of insansa shinya ubulanda.obviously ka gelo kali akalowa ba guy kalibafulungenye.he could do anything she told her to do to please her.ZRA money shalilowa

  69. # 88 – Connie….lets suppose it is proven these guys were murdered and he was yo husband… how would you feel against the murderers ? If u focus only on the fact that he had a girlfriend, then it will be difficult to forgive….wat he did was wrong but maybe a greater wrong was committed by taking their lives… am not judging but i think we all have sinned in one way or another…….wat do u think ?

  70. You people saying he was murdered are just in denial. You cannot accep the fact that your friend was a ‘silent burner’ and his number was called while he was betraying his wife. What you need to be asking yourselves is why The heavenly father called their numbers while in the pool. Your friend was probably one of those people that pretend to be good in public then do bad and ask for forgiveness later on . Your mate died thats the end of it , stop trying to make as if theres other circumstances when it’s just mere speculation.

  71. # 93 – the bar man has stated that waiters were taking orders…for beer. I would expect the waiters to be at a ‘”safe distance” from the couple…enough distance to grant the couple the privacy they deserve but near enough to serve them in case they need more services… so it should be that some1 shud have seen them at least struggling for dear life.. … screams or no screams…. some1 drowning does not die silently…they would have been some loud splashing and thrashing about…….and do u have any suggestions Y their numbers were called while in the pool…any ideas ?

  72. Ba council, keep your paws off the lodge owners. Where have you heard people going to swim at night not even in macau or las vegas.so the life saver had already knocked off at 18hrs.this couple was just over excited probably warming up for bed time.even the time xavier chungu ,Aaron chungu and their crew used to paint siavonga red every weekend with their hot chicks, they never used to splash in the pool at night but by the braai stands and the counter.ka gelo ekalengele

  73. #94 screaming underwater is a grave mistake, you take in a lot of air to scream now underwater screaming takes in a lot of water into the lungs. If you are below the water you don’t make a nise no matter how much you struggle , splashing only happens when above water. Drowning doesn’t take more than 4 minutes plus factor in the screams pushing water into the lungs, beer plus brain lacking oxygen you do the math as why no one heard them and came to help. I have no idea why his number was called up in the pool but the fact that he chose to take his girlfriend to a posh lodge instead of his wife should really tell you what kind of man he was

  74. If you want to know how drowning can be a silent death. I witnessed a near death experience of a little girl drowning, there was a group of people next to the pool and they didn’t hear her . If it wasn’t for her mother spotting that she wasn’t around we would all have seen a body floating . The girl lived

  75. #95 are you the cheif examiner on this blog? Instead of sticking to the topic , you are wasting time looking at pipos spellings, get a life.

  76. The Lodge may be liable for corporate manslaughter because it has no life saving equipment or persons on duty at a public swimming pool. Health and Safety regulations have been breached here. Lawyers< where are you?

  77. Tu savanna, 6%, alc pp. depending on tolerance, tulasenda. who knows maybe the barman and wauters had received instructions not to diturb the couple after sometime while the two enjoyed a nice time. Orga** also affects pipo in different ways, some become temporaly paralysed. [ALCOHOL + ORGA**(in WATER) =SLIGHT FAINT/FATALITY.]

  78. These are just lessons for both men and women to avoid certain things in certain places.Even b4 someone blames the lodge owner ,what precaution did the two take b4 the blind started leading the blind.

  79. #98 – u have a point there…..one can drown even in the presence of other swimmers even in broad daylight…!!! I guess as a friend, the loss am feeling is affecting my judgement…but all the same….police shud look at all angles…I believe that is standard procedure in all sudden death cases….we can have some advise from our learned legal eagles on this……
    I still have a sickening feeling in my belly about this tragedy……..hard if it happens 2 some1 u C about twice a week….really hard……MTSRIP…..

  80. This is really a sad story but a lesson to both men and women. These side wheel kind of arrangements are very tricky…if these guys were both single they wouldnt have gone as far as manchinchi bay , but because they were hiding something they went and met their death. It can happen to anyone though.
Having said this i still suspect foul play and proper investigation has to be done because honestly the evidence given does does not add up properly.
First of all how did people know it was the woman’s idea to teach the guy how to swim and secondly the Alcohol story comes out as a fake to me. i cant buy it.
To be honest Manchinchi bay has become a ghost lodge coz people dont go there anymore. The last time we visited , we didnt feel safe we left the following day (with my wife of course).

  81. We can not hold the lodge propriaters responsible of the deaths of these pipo. First of all they were all adults nt under age. It’s sad that they died coz no one rejoices in some1’z death taking into consideration that he had a family looking up to him. But lets call a spade a spade and not call it an extra large spoon, the wages of sin is death and the bembas say ifyakulya ubushiku bafimwena kuma lushi

  82. Never drink alcohol and try to swim at the same time, I don’t know why people can’t stick that simple fact into their heads until its too late. I have lost a few friends from drowning because of drinking and trying to swim and it hurts me so much every time I read a story like this!

  83. Wonderful publish, very informative. I ponder why the other experts of this sector do not notice this. You must proceed your writing. I am sure, you have a huge readers’ base already!|What’s Happening i’m new to this, I stumbled upon this I’ve discovered It absolutely helpful and it has helped me out loads. I am hoping to give a contribution & aid different users like its helped me. Good job.
