Summer of Discontent Hits Faz

Share

Police cordoned off Football House this morning after football fans attempted to storm the Faz headquarters.

Faz were protesting the dropping of German-based midfielder Andrew Sinkala and protested over the poor management at Faz.

The protest also forced the cancellation of Herve Renard’s much anticipated press briefing this morning.
However, Renard said he will still brief the press in a one-off media briefing tomorrow or the the day after before heading to Rwanda on Thursday with Zambia.
There has been an air of discontent swirling over the last 24 as Zambia prepares to face Rwanda in a must-win 2010 Group C qualifier in Kigali this Saturday.

Meanwhile, there was tranquillity on a grey and overcast morning on the other side of Lusaka at Independence Stadium as Renard and his men went about the paces.

15 out of the 16 foreign based players all trained Tuesday morning with the exception of Rainford Kalaba from Portugal who arrived around mid-morning to complete the 20-member team called up for the Rwanda clash.

  1. Unrully behaviour in the name of socer fanz should not be tolerated. Though I don’t think there waz anybody with the intention cauzing chaos, the people dezerve to be heard and no amount of hide and seek by FAZ will work. Our footbo managerz must come clean with regard to the current malaise prevailing in the peoplez game.

  2. According to the BBC, the players were given $15 as allowance for the game against egypt.
    Now, talk about Motivation,
Galu and his french conmen should be fired.

  3. For sure FAZ deserves a leadership that has seen the inside of a lecture theatre not these tamanga’s running the Association currently.VIVA SOCCER FANS

  4. Some people are just bad luck! The moment I saw Kalusha Bwalya at the COSAFA C. cup, I knew we would lose. That man just gives me the hibby jabba jibbies.
HR should swallow his pride for the sake of our money and call Sinkala, we need him.
No matter what, ni Zambia for life ifwe!!!!!!!!!

  5. #2 is correct! It’s not the coach or Kalu – there is just no talent or money at the moment to develop football further!

  6. Galu & his French PE Instructors must really go…Galu cant run football affairs by remote,,,PE instructors lack tactical know how…why drop Sinkala & Cliford who are playing tip top football for their club & maintain clubless Sunzu…they want to market the boy so that they can benefit from the sale..

  7. Kalusha Bwalya and his team should just resign on principle.Football in Zambia has a hit an all time low..
While Renard might not be the best coach for Zambia, the poor performances of the national team can not entirely be blamed on him.Even if he brought Andrew Sinkala in,I don’t think he can a make a big difference to the team. The problem with football in Zambia is much bigger than the national team players and the coach’s selection.

  8. I wonder why it has to take writing on the way, in black and white, for some people to realise when its time to go. Kalusha Bwalya is an amazing embacile, he has failed to run FAZ and why he still clings on to the post is mind boggling. It looks like its a Luapulan lumpen thing to cling on to power no matter what, remember Chiluba, another Luapulan and his third term laced with “I have not finished my programs?” I wonder what programs Bwalya has, besides driving Zambian soccer into the ground. Maybe some armed lunatic in J/Burg where he lives should put him out of his sorry misery by nailing him to the cross.

  9. #14, Careful with your loose talk. Think before you open your mouth. Life is God given, you don’t just wish someone death. put yourself in his shoes and think. I watch zed football. I have only seen Emma Mbola,Kalaba to be consistent in their performance. ViVa ZED! ZAM 3:1RWA.

  10. # 14 you think like satan. What manner of hatred is that which makes you utter such nonsence? think before you open your dirty moulth.

  11. Ba Zambia, its such a shame that these players dont take paying for their coountry as an honour. Alot of pipo would play for their country free of charge, but Mu Zambian wants to be paid. Atase tiyeni uko , you dont even know how to play football. you play like girls.
