each other the best in the next Solwezi Central by-elections.
The two leaders met near Solwezi radio station where President Banda was coming from having a live interview.
President Banda implored his counterpart Mr. Sata that as leaders they should teach the young generation not to practice politics of insults but work together.
The two leaders hugged and shared jokes as they chatted on some current affairs.
And PF leader said that they should continue with verbal fight and not fighting with guns and weapons.
The two leaders wished each other the best before parting company.
President Banda is in Solwezi to sum up support for MMD candidate Albert Chifita while Mr. Sata is in the district to sum up support for the PF-UPND Pact candidate Watson Lumba.
ZANIS
That’s the Zambian spirit. Now you cadres why do you want to slaughter each other over nothing?
We know MMD is saying good bye to the Government come 2011.
Congratulations to President Rupiah Banda.Even though you got the country at a time when we where faced with the effects of the global financial crisis, you steered the ship well and Zambia was not affected by the crisis as other countries in the region. You have done well in your 1 year as president and we the Zambian people are looking forward to working with you for another 2 years until we reach the 2011 Presidential General Elections where we will support you for another 5 years up until 2016.
We the Zambian people must embrace peace and work hand in hand with govt to ensure the prosperity of our nation.
Thats good you too….You should wish each other well….though we know MMD is carrying the day…RB you should not be hugging anyone, lest they rub you with juju..I know Sata very well..bana babakulu..
lead by example, thats what zambians need to hear from you old men.
#3
Wanisekesa maningi. Ati you know sata!.Anyway I like it also,no hard feelings.
where on earth have you see the president and vice president vacate offices to drum support.
Only in zambia
#6 wilksin
It happens everywhere its not only Zambia even Obama was recently on it for some of his party candites which he lost by the way
Ok chi SATA cibi pamenso..calipya nafwaka kwati ni mpapa ya kwa hyena..hahaha
I don’t think I would vote for a party that refuses to practice democracy within its own party.
It must start with democracy within the PF for us to take them seriously as a party that will maintain the democracy we have solely enjoyed in this country.
There is nothing todo in Lusaka at the moment for RB and GK. But when they leave they will want to stay in Luasaka
Iwe #6. The Vice President is back in Lusaka and he was addressing parliament today. Check your facts before your claws polute the keyboard. Criticising for the sake of it will never help you!
MMD Staunch Supporter # 8, you must be sick in your f.u.k.i.n.g ci head I find your contributions pathetic, why cant you transform your language into good. Remember Sata is just as old as your father. This is what you are telling your own father too. You should grow.
#9 Mrs Capitalist are sure of what you are saying. There has been no proper election in MMDs NEC since 1996. Be truth my dear. Even now there is a wrangle over the holding of the convention. And let me remind you here that the MMD NEC has only Katele Kalumba as an elected member . The rest like Kaande have just been coopted. So I dont see what democracy you are talking about in MMD.
Mr. Banda has made me feel so good inside. Clearly this is a man who knows what he is doing and knows what he is talking about.
13 Inside what?
#8MMD u ar crazy, you think Ba Rupiah Banda basuma ukucila ba Sata? moreover Rupiah is more ugly than Sata. #6 Wiskin i think u are behind in politics, it happens everywhere, presidents go drum up support for their party members, just few weeks ago Obama was in New jersey to campaign for a Democrat candidate on governorship, unfortunately democrats lost.
Ifye twalefwaya bayikatana pa nkanda ukumona umukali
#12 Deja Vu
Let us learn to give credit where it is due. Instead of being bitter, why not appreciate this current development that will add to Zambia’s development.
What is this “And PF leader said that they should continue with verbal fight and not fighting with guns and weapons.” Iwe Chi Sata you think you can take political mileage by issulting? No wonder we are ruled by people with no vision….Surely what exmple are you giving to us the youths even yo chidren ohh..they are used but us the voters…
#6 – You are lost. That happens alot. Even Obama goes to other states to support candidates for Governor positions. Its called politics and BS. Sata and Bwezani two bickering old ladies but they wont hurt each other.
While Hichilema and his Godfather Sata are in a fragile alliance of the two of President and regional provincial chairman, Zambia’s centrist ruling MMD is in a binding and enduring alliance with Zambian citizens across regions who are true voters.
In ALL of Zambian history, it has never been the leaders who fought. It is their cadres. similarly, a child will always fight another if the other insults his daddy. People may think that these cadres are illiterate, but they are not. 2 female MPs exchanged blows. Some bloggers here come up with unprintables to insult the leaders they do not like. They qualify to be called cadres. In general, our culture expects us to respect anyone older than you even if they are demented. Icifukushi is not conducive to democratic debate.
Mrs. Cpaitalist i don’t think we’re living in the same country, frankly speaking if we want to progress this crop of leaders we have cannot take us anywhere be it RB, Sata or HH. This country needs to take a different direction because the way we’re functioning as a nation is sad…right now even to lodge a complaint with the police you need to have money and if you’re unfortuinate the guy on the other side has more than you, your case can’t go anywhere. And further wealth is not being spread equitably… so i don’t know what you’re talking about…
eople like _wiksin _ astound me. Ignorance is vice, vice is wickedness. What kind of office job do you think the President and VP do? Let me enlighten you. 90% of work is diarised. Travel to other parts of the country IS part of work. Infact, the more Zambian leaders meet the people, the better so that they can see for themselves what is happening on the ground instead of relying upon ‘reports.’ So stop this childish blogging about absenteism! It is cras.
Dejavu #12 please dont say things if you dont know the facts. Most of the current Nec was elected including Mulogoti, Mabenga, Muatati, Pande, Shikapwasha, Masebo, Vera with very few invited. And you heard Rb say there will be a convention.
Ba Mrs Capitalist mule ikala tondolo nga ta paba efyo mwaishiba. Give credit where it is due? To who? Globe trotting Banda? In my very humble opinion, the effects of the global financial crisis that countries elsewhere have been feeling are things that have been felt in Zambia for so long that people are even used to them. e.g. high unemployment, constant retrenchments, impossible access to finance… Need I say more. Sometimes bloggers on this site remind me of the leaders we have in our country. TOTALLY DAFT!!!!
I call for the political recolonisation of Zambia. What do we have to lose considering that our economy has already been colonised by South Africa and China. If we can not as Zambians rise and say enough of this rubbish of being given useless leaders, then we should be recolonised.
This leaves the PACT’s Southern Province Chairman Hakainde Hichilema in a irredeemable quagmire following his unZambian tirades of unpalatable insults on Zambian voters and elected statesmen around the clock.Do you see how crooked Sata has dribbled novice HH? He gave him a bounty of some political nooses and the poor chap overzealously has expelled himself out of a poll of Generational change politics we are to usher in post RB generation in 2016. Sata systematically made HH validate his under five character or calculator boy. With Major Chizhyuka non aligned to this kaponyalism, the provincial chairman is weaker by one seat in Parliament.
GUYS we are one Zambia one nation. For Godsake let us act like citizens what is wrong with u people. Our neighbors would die for our peace record, let us learn to give good critics on things and not personal ones. Lets us overcome the evil and jealousy that we have towards one another because at the end of the day my fellow zambians RB is in power let us be patriotic and give him the respect he needs. Even for Sata the same benevolent attitude must be undertaken. When these guys go as in die we will miss them. ZAMBIA IS A POTENTIAL, THUS WE SHOULD IN THE DIASPORA SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AND RALLY BEHIND HER 100 PERCENT. COS BELEIVE ME WHEN SHE BECOMES A SUPERPOWER IN HER OWN RITE WE WILL BE LEFT OUT.
This leaves the PACT’s Southern Province Chairman Hakainde Hichilema in irredeemable quagmire following his unZambian tirades of unpalatable insults on Zambian voters and elected statesmen around the clock. Also for the fact that he has been announcing his plans to burn Zambia and make her ungovernable if they don’t risk with him in plot one.
FACTS:
1. Zambia’s GDP has doubled since independence.
2. Zambia’s population has trebled since independence (hence reducing per capita GDP).
3. There are more schhols and universities in Zambia since independence.
4. Since 2003, Zambia’s GDP has grown by avg. 6% and inspite of global recession! 5. Highest Forex reserves at $1.6 billion in 38 years!
6. $300 million to be spent on health compared to $30 million in 2001!
7. Inflation has dropped from 150% in 1990 to 10% in 2009, expected 8%, 2010.
8. Lusaka population increased from 400,000 in 1980 to 2 million!
9. For 1st time, high profile individuals tried and convicted for corrupt practices (in KK’s time, they were just fired to enjoy their stolen money!)
Yes I like comment #2 though it sounds very familiar.
This is a sign that democracy in Zambia is growing. This is the type of maturity that is needed in Zambia’s political arena.
HH, I think it is time you got your writing pad and pen and start taking notes on true democracy and not asking for biased debates as well as making 24 hour ultimatums which have passed their expiration date.
This is what I have been saying. HH is a lightweight who should first run for MP before he eyes the presidency. He is in his infancy when it comes to politics.
the two leaders tried to tone down the rhetoric in solwezi yesterday, we appreciate their reminder that we can differ but still being respectful of each other
10. More people are richer and more are poorer. This is the nature of free market capitalism. Some who have, get more and those who haven’t, even the little they had is taken away from them.
11. Not a single person is a political prisoner. 12. More independent electronic and print media than ever before.
12. No national airline, but more privately owned airlines. 13. More public transport, like buses, coaches BUT no real passenger train service to write home about (pity that!)
13. More roadworthy private motor vehicles on the road (unprecedented rise!)
14. More variety of motor vehicles as well (from Hummer to Toyota, Mercedes to Jeep!)
15. More private ownership of real estate.
15. More owner occupier than renting.
HH, abakulu ba kulu. the bembas say, “apalwa insofu, ichani echi chulilamo” [where big elephants fight, the grass is what suffers]
Sometimes as a younger person do not involve yourself in older peoples squabbles and exchange of insults. Because at the end of the day when they reconcile, you will come out looking stupid even if you were right.
Look at HH now, who is hugging him? He has been left outside the circle of mature leadership. These are tribal cousins having a go at each other, eh? The little one, what does he have to say for himself?
Ba LT, “f.o.o.l.i.s.h.” is not an insult, its a state of behaviour, especially in the context I have used it!
16. More enterprising opportunities than ever before. With $200, you can start selling ‘talk time’ for a good profit. With $2000, you can acquire land in high residential area and build a good residential property for $20000! Let it for $600 per month in 5 years you get your money back! Where on earth?
The crux of the matter is that apart from those who are disbled and infirm, poverty in Zambia is SELF inflicted!
Tonga cow ,
HH has finished himself. He should have known first the generational bonds of Ngonis and Bembas. There is no way in hell when Bembas or Ngonis ever will take pride and align themselves with a young man straight from herding some village cows daily insulting a Ngoni warrior.Even in the book of Hell it says no way no how .The two can spew verbal diarhorea but let an outsider go on them, he will be a victim. This the real world of unwritten rules.Mark my words, HH is out from the now or future Zambian leadership materials. His hatred has no future.
#38 Indeed I cry for the little one, he is choking in the dust of the two elephants, as they wrestle with each other…..for no one can hear his desperate call for help!!!!!
MMD KUYA BEBELE BA SATA NABA HICHILEMA BALETEKA
Pa Zed bakandile bafula. Sure a country with alot of reasources still very poor, no wonder na vetaran alesabaila
this is good for our country that MMD will bounce back.
I am finding some of the blogers comments a bit offensive. More so if you stay in Zambia. What has RB done. I dont know. Probably create a fuel crisis, have a sandle every week. Have a bad mouth which is full of sh**************T. I probably would say he would win the trophy as the most travelled Zambian President in History. Mrs Capitalist, Chi staunch MMD supporter and many of you who eat with RB and Kunda remind me of what these two f**********s have done. I need mind jerking. Kunda and RB still want to talk about why Chiluba had to go free. we all know he was freed on very st*************d technicallities. Those who got from him recieved stollen property, but he did not steal. What atter bu…………l sh******************t. So all those that talk about RB and The MMD be realistic .
Where do this poor villager vetaran stay? He is talking of regionalism political parties. Pliz those in towns tell this chap that PF got more MPs in towns than Northern and Luapula
tHIS IS A WELCOME DEVELOPMENT. i have always said that Rupiah is a gentleman and quite civilised. #v44 Machende, pipo hhold different opinions so dont get annoyed. The people of Kasama recently rejected MMD, while the pipo of Chibombo chose MMD. NOw that is democracy. Do not ever except everyone to agree with you . Oh and tone down on your languange
Some people on this blog live in the Twilight Zone. Some have utufulo mu MMD or family members who have high positions in MMD or Govt. They turn a blind eye to all the injustices that this govt has done and continues to do in the name of “uku mi cheke lako”.
sata can not and will never ever rule zambia.chawama twayabusha naba chama chakomboka
#47Beyonce…tell it as it is…its amazing how certain comments are so far off what we all see when we drive…walk around Zed…Ba MMD…ya! na pa blog!
Number 48 Akapondo your personal haterate with Sata will not take you any where. Respect the dead one Chakomboka. You never know by 2011 you may not vote instead you would follow Auncle Chama
I find it too odd for my for some elusive economic analysts to look at the general statistics of GDP, education and health to explain the improvements the country has made since independence. It is important to understand and heed the basic principles of Economics Development ,development is not just improvements in education ,Health and improved growth but rather how these economic elements contribute to the general welfare of the people at all levels . The country has accumulated a considerable weight of wealth and this has not been distributed accordingly to across classes. The spending on social sector being quoted above has ended up in people’s pockets and the taxation systems has not favored the redistribution of income from rich to the people but the opposite.
# 51 you have hit the nail on the head my man..I totally support you.No futher comment for now
Its gud for country, let incourage that a lot. plse involve the outcast HH in the hugging and chatting so that the carders can see n be able to hugg at kulima tower or city market.
One Zambia , one nation spirit shud come back to the nation.
Peace be still Zambia.

KAKABALIKA,
My foot, hatred for sata?i dont hate the man i hate his character.he is a cheat. That’s why he thrives in a country where people have got shot memmories and are lazy like you.so you chaps in town go on licking his bottom and we in the villages who are the majority are telling you that never shall he rule.
Akapondo~~ as the meaning of your name. Am not a your fellow politician, lazy neither living in yo Zed town. Kalibalika
CATHOLIC Church Lundazi parish priest Fr Innocent Banda has said the horrible state of part of the Chipata-Lundazi-Chama road is forcing some Lundazi motorists to use Malawian roads when travelling to Chipata. Sure Veteran, Mr $ Mrs. Capitalist, SAINTand Akapondo ,cant you pipo talk to works and supply minister to work on this road. Surely passing in Malawi, so is malawi govt more capable than you? We voted for you so we expect a lot from you
Pabwato !!! Uno mwaka wesu guys !
Maple law to all those that are supporting RB & MMD
nice development. thats the way forward.
I wonder if this is genuine or a mere publicity stunt…anyway good show:)>-
