Indeni Petroleum Refinery has resumed production of petrol with six hundred thousand litres offloaded onto the market on Tuesday.
Energy Permanent secretary, Peter Mumba, says the fuel is ready for distribution to oil marketing companies.
Mr. Mumba told ZNBC news that the production process took long because of impurities which where traced in the petrol.
He said the fuel situation in the country will normalise as Indeni will be able to produce seven hundred thousand litres every day.
Mr. Mumba however said fuel imports will continue for the next six months to enable the country build petrol stocks.

While ! This is good news hope the running of indeni will be sustained coz we dont want to see a repeat of the same situation.
Yaba! We were enjoying the pollution-free roads! This RB… Doesn’t he know about global warming?
The damage has already been done.
Clearly we Zambians do not like good news, very few are blogging today. Its confirmed zambians are saddists.
#2: We zambians for real are difficult people. Fuel shortage its RB, Indeni back to operational, again its RB but this time pollution and global warming. What do u really want kwena?
This Rupiah has shown just how incapable he is to lead, Ludwig Sondashi told us last week that this the most useless president Zambia has ever had! What a shame, fuel shoratge is at its peak, Mumba what the Fu***ck are you saying??????????????????
People are not blogging ’cause it’s too much. Aren’t the government going to learn. LET THEM JUST ACCEPT THAT THEY HAVE FAILLED.
Whats going to happen to Indeni management now that govt owns the company 100%. I hope we dont see cadres being appointed to mangement and board of directors position. So the petrol stocks can not be built up from Indeni production?? Because from what I understand is that the imports are duty free and will be supplied by foreign companies and not local ones. So the money in the end does not benefit Zambia in any way. Can our leaders for once make decision that put country before self.
Though this news sounds like a dream come true damage has already been done. So Peter Mumba, Ken Kongo and RB were not telling us plain truth. Well we wish them lucky in Solwezi Central bye elections. These public workers or leaders should remember that they are holding those positions not for persoanl glory or gain but in trust of the pipo of Zambia. Any way 2011 is not very far away. KK and team once regined supreme then FTJ but today they are spectators. So who are these men before GOD?
Does anyone believe what this PS says? I think he is a liability. He should keep away from making impricise statements which are supposed to be made by politicians!!
These leaders even know you now, they know you just talk talk talk talk….docile Zambians!
it’s a good thing they have restarted production. I just wonder when they’re gonna close again for their ‘annual maintenance’ – considering they do it every two months or so.
