Local government and housing Acting Minister Bradford Machila says it is happy with the usage of hearses in the country.
Mr Machila said it is gratifying to note that councils in the country are putting the hearses to good use.
Mr Machila said this in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka yesterday.
Meanwhile the Minister has warned local councils against favoritism in the operations and preferences on who should use the hearses.
He said hearses are meant to help any bereaved family hence the need for the councils to ensure that all Zambians benefit from them equally despite their status in society.
Government recently procured a number of hearses from China to ease the transportation of the deceased to cemeteries in almost all the 72 districts in the country.

Why did they not buy ambulances, instead of hearses?
they want to bury us so they cant plunder. Psychopaths, prevention is key, let us die in dignity after the best has been given to us, riding in a hearse doesn’t mean anythin. you’re still dead. where are the ambulances? Boma ya ma labishi
with all the road accidents we’ve had in Zambia lately I’m sure the hearses have been put to ‘good’ use. Fix your roads damit your praises are misplaced.
The Teta legacy which took him to the last resting place… yes indeed it did.. these hearses!!!!
Taking dead pipo to their final resting places is nothing to talk about. There is nothing special about those vehicles. Dead pipo dont bring development. Mr. Ben Machila councils need grants to develop infrastructure. If you have nothing to talk keep zee. Just Lusaka , with the onset of rains some areas are already getting flooded due to lack of drainage system. Erratic supply of water by LWSCo is the order of the day. In Chalala Woodlands extension meters have been installed but there is no water yet residents continue getting bills. What kokayi planning and implementation. No wonder we are not moving in terms of development.
What you need is quality health care and good roads to reduce deaths.
Mr Minister, When was a Survay carried out about the use of these Manda-mandas?. you cant just come up with this information without talking to the pipo who use them. To begin with , most pipo didnt want them , but your forced these things on the pipo and now you are saying Govt is Happy, it would sound good if you said the Pipo of Zambia are Happy with the Manda-mandas.
