Mansa District has recorded an increased transmission rate of HIV/AIDS from 11 percent in 2008 to 18.5 percent this year.

Acting Mansa District HIV/AIDS Coordinating Advisor (DACA) Henry Mulenga revealed that HIV/AIDS cases have risen by over 30 percent since last year due to low condom use in the district.

Mr. Mulenga also attributed the HIV/AIDS cases rise to the increased multi-concurrent partner relationships and economic activities in Mining and trading in the area.

He said this last night at Mansa Catholic Cathedral during candle light prayers ahead of this year’s World AIDS Day Commemoration which falls today under the theme “universal access and human rights , with stop AIDS keep the promise.”

And Mansa District Commissioner Major Chibwe Nsakasha has called for more specific and intensified efforts to fight HIV/AIDS.

Major Nsakasha noted that the pandemic was drastically reversing the economic gains the country has achieved since independence because the pandemic attacks productive and sexually active age group of between 15 and 45 year olds.

He said government was committed to reducing the impact of the pandemic through the provision of free treatment, support and prevention strategies.

The DC called on all stakeholders to unite and devise ways of fighting the pandemic before it completely overturns the achievements the country has made.

  1. With what i have seen in the picture, there is definately need to do something. Bakupela inuma filya! My goodness! Sibamvela ku Mansa kansi. How much is Bus fare from Lusaka to Mansa bane?

  2. these something more to this than just lack of use of condoms. These teenager/youths are supposed to be involved in other activivities than sex

  3. #3 Nine Chale, that could certainly be true. Mansa chicks are hot and off the hook. I grew up there and man I know what I’m talking about.

  4. I READ THIS WITH DEEP AND HEARTFELT CONCERN REALLY. THESE STATISTICS ARE QUITE ALARMING FOR THE FUTURE GENERATION HONESTLY SPEAKING. OUR POPULATION IS GOING INTO COMPLETE EXTINCTION DAY BY DAY. NOW, MY SUGGEST IS A BIT DIFFERENT FROM THE DACA. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT 1st BASIC NEEDS MUST BE MADE EASILY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL AND 2nd SUGGEST IS MORE EMPHASIS MUST BE PLACED ON BEHAVOIURAL CHANGE AS OPPOSE TO MASSIVE CONDOM USE. OUR MORAL UPRIGHTNESS IN ZAMBIA IS CURRENTLY HIGHLY MISPLACED AND AS A RESULT WE HAVE YOUNG PIPO INSULTING OLD ONES, LEADERS INSULTING EACH OTHER, HIGH DEATH RATE MAINLY DUE TO AVOIDABLE HIV N AIDS DISEASE, CORRUPTION, CHILD LABOUR, UNDER-AGE INTO LIQUOR TAKE UPS, MARRIAGE BREAK-UPS AND MANY MORE. PLS PLS LET’S CHANGE OUR BEHAVOUR BY STRICTLY ADHERING TO OUR CULTURE.

  5. #7 OK, we share your concern but why do you have to write in capital letters? I dont think it will make people change their behavior.

  6. #8 I THANKS BUT U C I HAVE A FELLOW BLOGGER WHO FINDS IT DIFFICULT TO READ SMALL LETTERS AS A RESULT I HAVE GOT TO USE CAPITAL LETTERS SO THAT ATLEAST HE CAN AS WELL READ. JUST TO BE FAIR MY FRIEND U KNW. CHEERS!!!!

  8. #3 the most beautiful women in Zambia are Ngonis with surname Ngoma and Mazabuka ladies those who live along the road a crossbreed of Tongas and South African drivers, Mporokoso Bemba ladies. When you look at them you can forget your problems.

  9. “The population in Mansa and some other towns in Zambia /AFRICA in general is growing at an alarming rate hence nature will provide a (POPULATION CHECH) to contain a population within the existing resource reach” unfotunately, AIDS is not doing enough like the “BLACK DEATH” pandemic which checked European population in the 1300 AD to a level were the population learns a lesson. Maybe there is need to introduce another powerful population checker like SWINE FLU??// “ANYWAY we should die for life to continue” AIDS is just doing natures work…..

  10. C’mmon you guys…women are women regardless of where they live. it just goes with one’s test, be it one’s physic or down there (as in my name). If only one can up with some scientific evidence , I am ready to debate without prejuidice.

  12. Ba Moze, I am simply saying that all women, regardless of were they reside or their tribe, are all the same, contradictory to what some posters above are saying . Beauty simply lies in the eyes of the beholder. Mwaikata point yandi?

  13. Those statistics could be true as I can comfirm that immorality in Mansa, is at its highest pick, but focus should not just be in areas were there is proactiveness in giving such data to the members of the public but focus should be in all coners of this country as I believe that all boader towns as well as big towns like Lusaka, are all potential hazards. May those staticts be released for every town and be shocked.

  14. ba nason you guys,u normaly suprises me coz u are the same people who always move around with those bitches but u even have the potential to blame your spouses.first pluck out what is in yo aye and do the same to your friends.
