Kasama wife commits suicide

Share

A 38-year-old house wife of Kasonde Chisuna in senior Chief Mwamba’s area in Kasama district has committed suicide after a domestic quarrel.

Northern Province Police chief, Charles Lungu, confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Kasama over the weekend.

Mr Lungu said the deceased, identified as Suzen Mubanga, hanged herself in her matrimonial house at Kapoka village on Saturday around 07:00hrs.

He said Suzen had a domestic dispute on Friday with her husband after she discovered that he had bought a mobile phone for his girl friend.

The husband was forced to retrieve the phone from his girl friend after his wife put a lot of pressure on him.

However, on the fateful day, the sister of the husband went to Suzen and demanded that the phone be taken back to his brother’s girl friend.

This action infuriated the deceased who later broke the phone.

It was at this time that she requested her children to go outside the house so that she could sweep.

But after the eldest child notice that her mother had taken long without coming out, she decided to go inside to check but only to find her hanging.

The husband of the deceased is on the run.

  1. Yaba even in the villages they have girlfriend. God help us or else marriage is becoming useless. Am sure she herself did not even have a cellphone.

  3. There is no good reason to take your own life, this one is very useless.I dont undetstand why she committed suicide..it is the extra marital affair the hubby had or is it because of the phone he bought his mistress. Mayo Ba-Suzen Mubanga nga mwafuminekofye kuchupo ukuchila ukuyipaya ,anyway dead people dont read LT.Bashi Mubanga have you seen what you have caused with your infidelity, and senseless connection bids.:o:o:o

  7. What a sad story! I’m struggling to find the reason for which the woman killed herself. Is it because she broke the phone or the infidelity of the hubby? Or could it be what the sister in-law said to her? Why did the hubby run away when actually he wasn’t even there when she committed suicide? Who will now take care of the Kids now that the mum is very dead and the dad has run away.

  9. He ran away from Traditional justice system which would lynch him for infidelity resulting in death. the bululu to the wife will skin him alive once they catch him.

There are several tribal traditions where the man can be lynched e.g if your wife dies during child birth (incila), traditionalists will suspect you of being unfaithful. So you will have a case to answer. In teh past, teh man could even be forced to remove or tumbula an unborn baby from his dead pregnant wife. Remember he is in rural area so he knows the consequences. he better run to the police so they can instead judge him under State laws.

If you follow State laws, he did not have to run away for his life as he did not kill her.

  10. What a pity! A life lost because of a mobile phone? I am sure there are other underlying issues here that have yet to be uncovered. It could have been a cry for help that went fatally wrong. MYSRIP my dear, no man is worth that much.

  11. This man was not faithful to his wife because he seemed to have believed in this ancient saying “intenkwe imo ine ileta icifine” but it is a shame his infidelity led to suicide. Now he is running like a fugitive,so sad!!

  12. Interesting to note that villagers also have mobile phones. That gives me the impression they also have access to electricity and clean water supply and you know…. all the basics. I guess GRZ then is doing something positive out there. 😕

  13. Most in laws pa Zed are too concerned about what goes on in their relative’s house more especially from the man side. In most cases they the the ones that provoke misunderstandings between couples and divorce. Now that the wife has killed herself, let the sister marry the brother/bagona….. Im sure that is what she wanted. Let them have it all. SHAME on the husband and sister. May her soul rest in peace. Iit would have been better if she didn’t kill herself for the sake of children.

  14. Shame..the poor children are now motherless. Suicide wasn’t the best answer.I bet the sister has that guilt now..Or maybe not..Bazi mulamu nabenve mlomo too much. The man should just stop running.

  15. I think further investigations should be made, why the dude is on the run, he might have as well been on the scene when everything happened, hanged the wife so it could look like suicide, threatened the kids and of course the sister will always be on his side, and fled . ( CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION)

  16. A BEMBA KUPUSA….another man in luwingu burnt his wife vigina cos. she was flirting with another man… hahaha how can such pipo rule us .. PF give us a rest
