The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) has announced that it has received overwhelming response on its new Television station TV2.

ZNBC Public Relation Manager, said in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today that the new station is receiving a 100 percent viewer-ship in Lusaka.

Ms Tonga further said ZNBC‘s TV2 will soon migrate to the sate-dish hosted on its behalf by Multi-choice Zambia.

She said the feedback being received from viewers appreciating the new channel is overwhelming.

“I am receiving a lot of feedback especially through phone calls of people watching our new channel. In fact, most homes I have been to even business places including other television stations watch Tv2.” Ms. Tonga said.

Ms. Tonga further said the TV2 expansion project will soon extend to Livingstone in Southern province and on the Copperbelt province with the availability of funds.

She disclosed that TV2 is a self-run and generating its own funds and therefore expansion to other towns will be done gradually.

Vice President George Kunda launched TV2 on January 15, this year on behalf of President Rupiah Banda.

  1. People will support the station as long as it is devoid of political pweletete.

  2. For as long as the channel remains devoid of political interference and propaganda, people will pay good money to support it. The moment you begin to headline every ‘evening news’ with “President Rupiah Banda today, blah, blah, blah,” that’s the day you should kiss the audience bye bye!! You will loose viewership like a BAD MOVIE.

Govt already has enough propaganda tools at its disposal (the other ZNBC channel, and plenty of print media.) So there is no need for you guys to follow suit. We expect something different, something mature, interesting, modern, well-researched investigative reporting, and good programming from you guys for a change. Everything about the current style/programming from ZNBC looks ancient and outdated. A complete overhaul is well overdue. GOOD LUCK!!

  3. That is very good and this is really some humble pie for the pessimists to enjoys as they swallow the bitter pill of ZNBC TV2’s success.

    Well done Zambia**==

  4. #4, spot on. What is 100% viewer-ship? And while we are at it what are the audience figures? How does ZNBC know that in fact people are watching their channels when they have no capacity to capture audience figures? Don’t tell me they are relying on people phoning them. Absolute pathetic way to conduct a market survey.

  5. Ba ZNBC namwe mulifikopo sana ka. Lusaka is not Zambia, so what 100% viewership are talking about when you have not extended the service to the rest of the country?

  6. 100% view ship doesn’t make sense becoz no survey was carried out!!! She should have said some pipo are watching the channel not 100% :o:o

  7. “I am receiving a lot of feedback especially through phone calls of people watching our new channel. In fact, most homes I have been to even business places including other television stations watch Tv2.” Ms. Tonga said.

This is the 100% Ms Tonga is talking about, her relatives whom she visits. And if 100% Lusakans are watching TV2, it means they are not watching the sh.itty TV1. Statistics, damn statistics!

  8. No. 11, this is an independent and clear picture: I live in Lusaka and I did’nt know that this new ZNBC channel is now “showing” and neither have I heard anyone talk about it. I am getting this news from LT right now. So this 100% viewership is just a load of crap.

  9. It’s Only in Lusaka and why 100%. Please learn to tell the Truth. Why should it be Lusaka First always? Are they the only ones paying for TV license? This does not make sense

  10. What a PR manager, strange declarations indeed. Even other tv stations are watching TV2???? Are they considering showing it too? These are truelly reckless statements to get someone fired.

  11. It hasnt but i see its promising. They have good programmes but they should just improve on the news its too informal. Hats off anyway

  12. when should we on the copperbelt expect to see this new channel.
Hope it the way people are discribing it and that we wont have the same programs day in and out……

  13. A number of TV stations in other areas are having good success in daily posting pictures of their areas most wanted criminals.

As amber alerts are so successful, I’m sure this would have nearly equal success.

TV’s Jack Welch in the seminar at the Energy Solutions Arena yesterday indicated that his show has been successful in catching a several thousand at-large criminals.

If your station would do this, it would provide a a great public service and tend to reduce our current crime rate.

    Thank you!
