Africa cannot form a single govt – Diplomat

Share

A diplomat says Africa is still far from attaining the idea of forming a single African government.

Discussing about African Freedom Day on Muvi TV’s Matter at Hand programme, Ambassador Love Mutesa saidAfrica is not yet stable to form a United States of Africa government.

He said the continent is not ready for a single government because its economies are at different levels of development.

Mr Mutesa pointed out that the political systems also cannot guarantee a single government as some countries on the continent is being run by dictatorships, others have joint governments while others fail to observe human rights.

He said there is need to harmonize the problems that the continent is facing before anybody could think of proposing for a United States of Africa.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mutesa said the continent faces a problem of selfishness which could not pave way for a United States of Africa.

He noted that selfishness would make it hard for majority African leaders to accept only one person to lead a continental government.

Dr Mutesa, however, said if a single government could be achieved, it would be cheaper for Africa when it comes to sending delegations to represent the government at world conferences.

He cited an example of the New York General Assembly where the continent would send only one leader to represent Africa than sending over 50 delegates.

  1. Here we go again. It not Africans forcing this idea of single government,it is the BILDERBERG.The plan has been there since 1954.

  2. Yes Ambassador Mutesa, that is correct. Just look at us here in Zambia, opposition leaders cannot even attend national functions such as Africa Freedom Day and Independence Day, all because of stu.p.id and unfounded fear that they will be seen to be subservient to the sitting president. In the PACT it is clear that none of the two leaders will give way to the other. It is said that a good leader is someone who is willing to be led by others (because they accept that there can only be one president at a time). Now if at a Micro level in Zambia we cannot show unity what more at Macro level, i.e. continental? The so called United States of Africa would be chaos on a grand scale, if at all it happened by some miracle.

  3. I will prefer SADC and NOT US of Africa cos some countries behave as if they are prefects over others.Secondly, cultural integration especially with the Arabs will be a nightmare.I have lived with these people, they are the worst racial bigots than the infamous KKK who look down upon blacks. The way forward for Zambia is economic integration within SADC.

  4. Africa is too complex, you can’t compare it with the EU or the USA – we are an old continent and each country’s roots are too deep to allow for any sort of union. We just need to continue utuma joint fimo-fimo’s. As for sending delegations, how else will some people make ends meet. Allowances for those meetings pay more than monthly salaries. Anyway, we love going about in large groups – elyo chidiba :d

  5. If you war try to form one government in Africa. I tell some other Africans are useless people who are so back ward. One afica country can’t work never. Just imagine such countries like Sudan, somalia, awe teti mudala.

  6. Integration is only possible for the Bantu peoples – that means SADC. Later with ECOWAS.
Integration with the north is out of the question.

Nature itself has installed a very clear divide – the Sahara.

  7. forming us of africa is not an african idea.it is the idea of the big power states in
the world who serve satan and their greedy interests.watch out pipo, the help u get from these well to countries is just a way to send u down the drain!!
