Sata calls for an end to Pact bickering

Share

Patriotic Front leader Michael Sata has called for an end to bickering in the PF/UPND pact using the press.

Speaking when he featured on the special edition of the Public’s Last Say on QFM today, Mr Sata said if there are weaknesses noticed in the PF/UPND pact, they should not be brought out using the media.

Mr Sata said he agrees with the concerns of the Zambian people on the pact.

He said there is also need to bring about discipline in the membership of both the PF and UPND by ensuring that no member of any of the two parties issue media statements about the pact anyhow.

Mr Sata added that there is need for the UPND and PF to reorganize themselves following their poor performances in the recent ward by-elections in which the MMD won most seats.

He note that the two parties did not do well in the local government ward elections hence the two parties need to reorganize instead of bickering.
that picking the pact’s presidential candidate today before the two parties reorganize will not help.

Meanwhile Mr Sata said he hates violence regardless of who is perpetuating it.

He said he could however not say much on the case in involving PF Kasama central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba who battered his wife on Sunday in order not jeopardize the investigations by the Police in the matter.

Mr Sata said it is for this reason that he has always condemned any acts of violence.

Yesterday Police recorded a warn and caution statement from Mr Mwamba for assaulting his wife, Chama following a domestic dispute.

  1. Soundz reassuring. But would do even better to hold a joint press briefing with HH and speak the same language.

  2. ‘Mr Sata hates violence’………statement may be at odds with the reality on the ground. really? even when he has a matchet handy?

  3. hmmm! but honestly , ba Sata balatinya, huh! Its high time Zambia had a young president with fresh ideas. If RB and Sata truly love Zambia and its inhabitants, let them step aside and give chance for fresh blood to rule, then they can only act as advisors.

  4. I think whatever the issues are in the pact, I like this Sata president better than that Banda. This man Sata will bring discipline in this rotten government of Zambia. You need a leader like him who does not care about the butt he kicks. This thing of protecting the people in the inner circle is what has killed that country. All the government departments are broken because of the current reckless behavior of senior government officials. Life sucks in Zambia.

  5. How can he hate vilence when its part of this fool. Ask Kadobi and his chorts who was giving instructions to hack people . . . Its Sata ….this fool thinks people are like himself. short memory and flip fopping …..as his dagga stained mouth is lke a hule’s fimo fimo. . . . . .

  6. Devil can come out in a sheep’s coat.. i would everything sata says with a tea spoon of indian chilli and salt…
The evil that you see in MMD was created by sata…

  7. Discipline your vice president for his loose mouth.Bickering will be there as long as you do not tell us who will stand. Yes we lost local government in areas where PF and UPND put candidates MMD took advantage of our splitting votes.

  8. Good Evening

Wise words. Plus I don’t see any trace of self-promotion, so I think the man is serious when he says that he hates violence. There are always better means to discuss problems without resorting to violence.

As for the pact, I hope it just doesn’t evaporate, as has happened to many other opposition parties because it was the very quest for Multi Party Democracy that brought MMD to power. On the bottom line, it is rather absurd for one party to coninue dominating the political arena for such a long time.

  9. Based on history I have always had reservations about Mr Sata. The third term debate, support of Chiluba at the beginning, the Chawama episode have always made me uncomfortable and also being perceived as atribalist, these are the things that worry Zambians. The lack of consistency needs to be addressed including the lack of democratic practices associated with the PF.
Some of us would be willing to give this man a chance but he needs to ensure that, mistakes may have been made but now he looks at things differently. Once the openness is there, and that they can work together with HH and the wider country then the confidence will be enhanced in him.
What guarantee is there that if he was president, he would not throw out HH the next day? These are the worries of some of us have.

  10. It is good GBM is out of the picture. Go, go PACT we are behind you. Come 2011, wina alila. We cannot afford to remain with this government beyond 2011, unless we want to see more young men thinking life sucks in Zambia. That level of frastration is not a good sign, lets all wakeup to the truth. Change is the right way to go….go the pact way

  11. So GBM has quit, ha! His must have been the shortest stint in history of our parliaament. It also clearly shows the psychopath-etic nature of the characters that sit in our parliament today and here I have in mind the likes of Mulongoti, Mwaanga, Mabenga, Soejani, Manjata, Mulyata etc. I think before one runs for MP or president in Zambia, they need to surrender their head to Chainama psychiatrics to test it for masalamusi. And ba Mumba Kapumpa also, chila bushiku na akasuba lwaku representa ama criminals, awe sure me I am mauless with Uncle Barry White.

  12. Women are a 61% electoral constituency in our country that deserves leadership respect and not this PF battering policy against mothers. This evident thuggery is institutionalized in PF as an enduring Party policy embraced from Sata to GBM. The thug called GBM and all chauvinists are misfits for leadership. They deserve to be tamed in incarcerations instead of aspiring for national leadership. Their policy of violence against women, and our daughters is unacceptable. The PF animist behavior is violating the UN charter against torture and women dignity.

  13. It is sadanning to see Sata pretend that his battles are matters of disunity in the pact only. Violence against women is an institutionalized thing in PF.The whole insanity of wife battering is a PF cancer. It’s not only the so-called GBM and Willie Nsanda doing it, but the entire Marxist legion of Sata’s handpicked PF leadership. If anything, its a prerequisite for leadership in PF rank and file. Sober people don’t sale. Given Lubinda has chased his wife with repeated battering for a tasintha girl based in Cheston, Michael Sata himself is known for this act too that subdued his first wife bana Chilufya to run away into divorce. This does not end up there because the same behavior is with Mumbi Phiri who does it on the husband with impunity.

  14. • Actually Michael Sata’s first marriage failed because of the same wanton chauvinism that took him to excessive wife battering openly. Jean Kapata was divorced for doing the same muchupo. This is why there is no Gender policy in PF. No manor of facade will sanctify Sata and his pocket held PF circus until he confesses to Zambians for his own life of women battering, abuse and insulting. He should also resign from the party leadership for a convention to elect a moralist. Get all chauvinists like Kambwili, Willie Nsanda, Lubinda, Mmembe, Mumbi and Kapata resign from his circus party called PF.

  15. President Michael Sata can make a difference in Zambia’s development. Please make sure that the rural community that is currently being bribed does not sell Zambia off like they did before. The people in the cities understand who can bring about development in Zambia. This man has a truck record of working for Zambia’s development. You can choose between foreign tours for 5 years and work!

  16. If Sata had wisdom or indeed an ounce of leadership in him, he should have seen something wrong , condemned and opposed the candidature of Mwamba in Kasama when he openly made a tribal decree that Kasama is for Bembas only and not Mambwes, Lungus, Namwaangas or tumbukas.Alas, without shame but unpatriotism and love for money he was there as party president waggling to the tune of such shameful blatant tribalism. This facade of resignation and suspension is an act of hopeless when their policy of impunity have gone overboard against UN charter.

  17. Actually GBM is still on drugs. Yes the Mwensos he is disparaging of poverty were deep in drugs with Ibu Isa. What is interesting is the fact that GBM a half South African native through his mother was peddling drugs too for many years with the Mwensos from who his so-called wealth comes from. It’s the Mwensos who bought him his Grinders. More he got his money from drugs and MMD favors of giving him Kasama milling then in a none collateral citizen empowerment sell off which went without a down payment for years of default. He tried to acquire Ndola’s Savoy Hotel in the same way as Kasama Milling but failed to liquidate an obligation to get it

  18. If anything ,GBM is the most indebted chap with all his Marcopolo Buses holding a 86% note value on each with a Brazilian trader. Right now he is in dangerous defaults at risk of repo anytime with more unretired obligation to ZRA who may swing into repossession. Some six month ago I had the opportunity of data mining his main business account statement. He is flaunting his wealth on a business shell finance wise.

  19. Latest: Fat Albert aka wife batterer has resigned his parliamentary seat. He will also be resigning from life soon

  20. The guy is ugly mwe!!! He can’t speak articulately, he is a demagogue. His lips look filthy. he is a chain smoker. Uneducated, uncultured, vile, unpresidential but most scary HE IS AN UNASHAMED VULGAR AND VIOLENT TRIBALIST!!! Zambia can and will do much better than this by God’s grace. No, the thought of chi shi-chilufya leading us to the pits is unbearable. Awe hitler!, amin!, pinochet! never again!

  21. #18 msana wanzili, Shalom! Let’s forget the bygones and move forward to build our nation. Our country desperately needs Think Tanks to make a change and improve the standard of living for everyone. We may be mere spectators here today but with the knowledge we share on this forum,we can make a difference tomorrow.

  22. It really seems there’s hope in PF than in MMD. Within few days of GMB finding himself in this heinous scandal, he is suspended and he steps down. The statement made by their leader blows a lot life into the PACT. Now let us look at MMD and their scandals. Chalwe (the gang rapi’st) is still a Youth leader. Katele stepped down when the courts found him as a criminal, Muzungu still walking free, Changwe still a Minister after bouncing checks, RB dragged his feet to deal with murderous dr. Musonda, IG Kabonde is still boss even when he stole money from cars he bought that have not been delivered as yet, Dora Siliya still in office after that terrible scandal, and the mother of all crimes is that State House harbors the waste first lady ever who stole from MoE as GHOST WORKER.

  23. Kasama Member of Parliament Geoffrey Mwamba has resigned as Member of Parliament.
Mwamba, known as GBM is said to be upset by party president Michael Sata’s decision to strip him of his position as chairman for elections and member of the central committee.
He has since written to Sata informing him of his resignation.

Mwamba says he only regrets that he has resigned without consulting the people of Kasama. He claimed that he will soon travel to Kasama to go and explain to his voters. He said that he wants to concentrate on his businesses which he said have suffered due to his involvement in politics.

  24. Earlier today PF leader Michael Sata suspended Mwamba from the position of Chairman of the elections committee for the party.

DOES THIS PF PARTY HAS AN EXECUTIVE COMMITTE. HOW CAN SINGLE HANDEDLY SATA FIRE HIS MAJOR FINANCIER. KAPONYAS AT THEIR BEST LOL.

  25. Sadly, MMD cadres go to dance for FTJ at courts even when they fully know that he brought the misery they are experiencing thru his thefts. MMD as a criminal syndicate will never have any moral ground to stand on in such cases. There own criminal President is not even there to monitor what the party is doing. He is awol girl hunting in Swaziland, Rwanda (when he left we all were told he was going to Burundi, how did he find himself in Rwanda?) not invited of course.

President Michael Chilufya Sata, man of the people, son of the soil, pragmatic and ready to change the ills done by MMD, brooks no nonsense, hater of the lazy bastards in MMD, hated by lazy MMD supporters because they want to continue being lazy, disciplinarian as seen in the GMB case wants to work for you and me.

  26. # 36, probably you have to read the PF constitution to understand what is at play here. Well, Mpombo and Magande were expelled from MMD on the 5th but the NEC sat a week later. Probably you have to discuss who is firing who illegally here. MMD is the only party were all officials are appointed by Banda, and all are Bandas. Coincidence? NO.

  27. #6, also be informed that thats why SATA is hated- its bcos he doesn’t care who he is dealing with and at what time. Once he fired Eastern-bound buses crew members and some accounts officers in Finance Division, when they store the buses trip takings. People thought he couldn’t fire the entire crews and accounts officers. But, he did and that created a vacancy for me in the city council as an accounts officer. And it was during my stint at LCC that I learnt why people hated Sata. The people who hated him were mainly skivers, thieves, late-reporters at workbecause thats mainly what people were fired for. If you where hard working, punctual, and not a thief you were in good terms with Sata and as opposed to what people say, he was an easy man to talk to. the other thing is- Sata is a…

  28. from #39…hands-on man. During his tenure as governor he used to join garbage collectors (in his gumboots, shorts and a jungle hat) to shovel filthy into skips at city centre or any other places where re-enforcement was needed. You can imagine the work attitude of Zambians- They hated him for joining them. He also never announced the inspection of work. He always went to inspect incognito. Thats where and when he earned the ‘King Cobra’ nick name. So, I trully believe that Sata is going to sweep Zambia of the dirty it has accumulated over years.

  29. Well, as a human being Sata also has his own weaknesses. But, many people just jump on the hate-for-Sata bandwagon. But, no one can take his attitude (hardworking/handson/results oriented) towards work from him. To him all these should go along with high levels of discipline.

  30. #9, I don’t think Sata is a fuul to cling to GBM. He will discipline GBM sooner than you realised. Sata doesn’t care who/what you are. And thats the beauty about him.

  31. #19. Leadership is not about a beauty contest or catwalk. Its about performance (shown by past history), self-conviction about wanting to lead and inspire the people, the love for your country and its people, etc. I hear people crying for a young president in Zambia. Thats being simplistic and just not knowing what you are talking about. Let the one who is capable lead Zambia- whether young or old. Descrimination in Zambia will not take us anywhere. Obama was not elected for his young age but his historical service to the communities of US and people US in general. And the politiks of USA or any other western country puts individuals (young or old) at vantage points.

  32. PETER, whatever niceties you shower on that janjaweed culprit wont change our perception about him.the man is a hooligan and power hungry finito. imagine the slob invading cabinet office and start making pronouncements and swearing in arrangements before the election results are even announced.he cant rule us,leadership is not a gamble

  33. #Peter! you can preach to everyone even pargans but your sermon will never change our minds to liking your MC Sata because our memories are not as short as yours. In short just keep the sermon to yourself to sataisfy your ego. Sata is the worste Hamas all zambian politicians have ever known, our momories of his acts are still fresh and the more you mention his name, the more some of us curse him. This man would be a danger to society and actually his popularity has reduced of late because more people are reminded of past with his Chiluba regime. Katele Kalumba, late Golden Mandandi were called thieves because of Sata’s corrupt moves.

  34. Sata thought he could now win elections without UPND! He is now faced with two by-elections and he needs the PACT’s support that is why he is now talking good about the PACT. Sata is a bad partner and has contributed to the poor performance of the PACT by allowing that muzungu loose canon to talk rubbish about the UPND. You know for Sata to be president of Zambia he needs HH, Without which RB will scoop the presidence and Sata will be too old to rule after another 5 years.HH has done good by keeping queit and let Sata and the POST self destruct themselves. Only GOD decides who should rule a country and for a REASON!

  35. #John plug your rectum, unless you are not from the pact, Michael Sata has spoken, join your pit latrine clowns like veteran, citizen

  36. Peter…

I support what you are saying about Sata. Sata is and has been a harding working person. All the ministries he handled people thank him that he changed things for better. Sata has history of hard working and thats why the lazy and thieves hate him coz he would not allow them to lazy arround.

Sata is a man of action and very pragmatic in his thinking and deeds. This is the type of a person Zambia needs this time so that all thieves and lazy people are swept away from gonvernment.

Those who hat Sata are lazy and thieves as history holds it.

    AMEN BANE.

  37. What a u-turn? Sata’s inconsistencies will never cease to amaze me. It is only a few weeks ago that he threw a bomb shell on the Pact which gave birth to the current squabbles between the two parties. Has he now seen sense in HH’s persistence to resolve the PACT issues amicably. I think PF and its leader can not be trusted for anything, the flip flopping is just too much. Honestly can one trust such a group to run the country!!!

  38. 50# John Walasa no jealous only PF Kaponya can complain. PF is heading for self detractions just wait and see. HH is quiet I only hope is making a good move.

  39. We dont need a beatiful or handsome face in state house. We dont want a person who will spent endless times on the mirror doing fashion and design instead of working. All we need is a radical brain accompanied by action, even if one has no face. PK had no eyes but he gave us the best music in all Zambian languages one can ever listen to. And why insult one another. We are busy condeming politicians forr insulting one another yet we do it on Lusaka Times. Then you claim that we leave politics to the young who are busy yelling insults at one another? Shame on you who are insulting on the net. You belong to GBMs kind. Lets think

  40. I was in the Ministry of Health when Sata was Minister. He cleaned it up and for the first time he raised the morale of the workers by rewarding them hundsomely and painting and renovating buildings which had been left to run down for years. Abena Zambia ulupato is deep seated and is without objectivity. Sata for President! You will regret if you make a mistake and choose 5 yrs of “Tours of Duty!” Sata’s tours will be productive, thanks # 39.

  41. haaa…!!! Katuba member of parliament has joined UPND..!!!!. You see people, sata is not trusted by his own people..!!! how do you vote for a man who will chase you once in power. we want change but change with this skoker of yours. Look what is happening with GBM. This is want you will see in sata’s government. I hope you understand my words. It is good this pact collapse so that PF and UPND go separate ways.

  42. well done a Sata. only theives and wife batterers would dislike this act. I also doubted whether sata wud do anything about it. kanshi its true he is no respector of persons. you have to do right to enjoy his protection, i love this. plus he wants to bring back our dignity. kwati this is the man 4 the job.

  43. My fellow Zambians we can keep on talking but we will not solve anything because Sata wants to be President he said it after reconciling with the late president.Whether PACT or no PACT Sata wants to be President and he just wants to use HH that is all, sure HH and his UPND MPs know about this very well.

  44. These Leaders in the Pact they know the pact is crumbling and they want to pretend as though everything is fine.Neither Sata or HH wants to say they have pulled out of the Pact because they know that whoever will say that will loose popularity from the masses.Right now they both dont believe in the Pact and they are just waiting for each other to make that pronouncement. They way things are going now I can safely predict that Rupiah will win next year’s elections.Lets wait and See!

  45. The two pact leaders just unite we are ready to vote for u come 2011,the MMD has done a lot of dirts and promote corruption.Mr Sata and Mr Hakainde are vissonable leaders who can help the poor and reduce the un employment levels young zambians are facing. The only answer to us youths is Pact, wind of change is in 2011.
