Lusaka women protest over delayed empowerment funds

Some Women in Lusaka today staged a protest over the delay in accessing empowerment funds from Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) through the Bishops Council of Zambia.

Impact Women Group Chairlady, Mwelwa Chibuye says the Women are tired of paying various fees towards the acquisition of the empowerment funds which have not been forthcoming.

She alleges that the fees have only gone to empower the initiators of the project instead of the target people.

Mrs Chibuye further alleges that the procedure has not been transparent.

The CEEC funds have been a source of concern from many Zambians through out the country that few people have benefited from it as a result too many procedures to be followed.

  1. Isn’t this fake Bishops Council the same that have been speaking ill of Bishop Duffy. What a shame, typical of MMD and there croucked minions. Its only a matter of time, and the truth shall be known. More than ever before were on course to a Zambia you deserve and not a fake one. Continue on the same path, because the God you save is looking over his people.

  2. Go to chamba valley and see the mansion which the CEEC chairman/or is it director has built. You will be shocked!!! The money people are crying for has lready been used to build one persons state house costing over 5 billion kwacha (1 million usd)!!! who cares?

  3. The truth is that the Bishops Council does not have audacity to speak ill of Bishop Duffy or the Catholic Church who have never stolen a single ngwee from any Zambian when on the contrary there stealing from the poor women. Now whay should be womens group get the money through the bishops council and not direct from CEEC. The problem is the crookedness in the MMD, starting fron its fake leader
