The Zambia national team leaves for Tanzania on Wednesday to take part in this year’s Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup.

Dario Bonetti’s 20-man team will leave at 10:00 on Zambezi Airlines for Dar-es-Salaam from Lusaka International Airport.

Coach Dario Bonetti said that he was feeling upbeat about Zambia’s prospects at the Cecafa Cup.

“I have a good feeling about this tournament because we have a very good quality,” Bonetti said.

And Faz president Kalusha Bwalya said a lot was expected from the team and thanked Cecafa for inviting Zambia to take part in the tournament for a third successive time.

“The people appreciate and realize how our competitiveness in terms of how good we can be. They realize that our team has potential,” Kalusha said.

Meanwhile, defender Davies Nkausu from SuperSport United in South Africa joined the team on Monday and will travel with the team to Tanzania as the only foreign-based player in the team.

Zambia kickoff their Cecafa Cup outing against hosts Tanzania on Sunday in the two sides opening Group A match.

Other teams in Group A are Somalia and Burundi.

  1. Imagine the first game played on sunday just after two days of rival FAZ meetings. whatever deliberations of the meetings will be the top stories for media and us. That shall be the atmosphere on sunday. moreso if TZ wins. by the way Ngasa there short/tiny danger man recently scored five goals against the cranes of uganda. Even then boys you have our bet.

  2. I do not really understand why us Zambians fail to resign when we anything against the majority,Kalu could have resigned and maybe us soccer fans could have watched the whole leauge

  3. blah blah blah blah blah bull shit zedians everything and everytime you complain. you never appreciate what other people are doing for zambia. who could be the next FAZ President? i understand Kalu always make mistakes which is common for any person on earth but more especially zambians. my point is kalu is known everywhere almost the whole world and things float easy for the team but select or elect whoever the unknown person you want and see how the ship will sink for nation. Good luck and whatever happens when i start playing pro-soccer very soon never call me to play for zambia. ( i am in division 3 now working my way high to top divo’s)

  4. JJ you are a wise and clever chap. You can see the doom our football is heading for because the nation is full of PHDs, plenty of whom you can see even on these blogs. Why should Kalu resign? If that was the case people would always be raising a lot of dusts so that incumbents can always resign. Great Kalu should continue and not give in to syncomphants who just want to serve their tin-pot egos.

  5. @ Uwafishiba

    PHD attitude is talking about things you don’t know or understand just because you think you are smart. It’s because of people like you who tolerate incompetent and mediocre leadership that this country will never develop. How can someone say that it’s okay for him to make mistakes as very person makes mistakes. It’s okay to make personal mistakes not management mistakes. London fiasco was just a joke and I am surprised that some grown men and women on this forum thinks it’s okay to worst TAX payers money like that, while the one supports him saying its smart and wise.

  6. Yaba!… Instead of discussing or debating chipolopolo’s form and strategy, we are busy yaping about Kalu & FAZ. Let’s all be part and parcel of Zed football by contributing positively. Forget about footbal house bane! Chipolopolo for real…..Iyeeeeh, chipolopolo!

  7. Kalu’s issue is part and parcel of the whole drama at FAZ House and Football inn General. Kalu or Galu is embattled. he was a marvel to watch as a player. But as an administrator he has lamentably failed. He thought he owns FAZ and all its trappings. He was wrong. Even the Govt., have fallen out with him, the major sponsor of our football. Kalu kept so many things a secret and a preserve of his henchmen in FAZ not the whole executive. Connections or no connection Galu cannot take us for ransom. We have rejected him with his connections. His pre-occupation is CAF & FIFA job not betterment of Zed football, he had a chance, he could have made it better but it’s not the case.

  8. :)) He! don’t jst talk bcoz u ve a mouth to do so, lets face it we ve alot of problems as a nation we need to solve them, coz i went to see a bether zed for everyone not chabe mukamwa we need to act the time is now.

  9. **==I would like to wish the chipolopolo boyz all the best in TZ, we ar behind you guyz and remember your duty is in the pich don’t worry about wrangels at faz and so on…..What ever the out came of the 26 or 27 PLEASE save our lovely game.

  10. Mpangula mputyu @ #,
    You always say Kalu has failed as an administrator but shy away from saying HOW he has failed. The London trip fiasco was not his making as he was busy with his wedding preparations in South Africa;
    The Mbola and Mayuka transfers are non issues because as president of FAZ and a person very familiar with international professional football he would have been irresposible if he had not assisted the boys;
    the supersport contract, he only signed the extention and substantive terms were negotiated by his predecesor, Mr Mulonga;
    you may be aware that some members of his executive resigned because they were offered as much as K20m to do so. So, where and how did Kalu fail? Give facts and then perhaps we can engage.
    Meanwhile, my best wishes for the Chipolopolo.

  11. @Quest So you can not see the mess Kalu has put himself in? Munaile was the one that was suppose to say what you telling us nw but alas he is on the other side of the fence, Okey we can say this and that but sunde wina aza lila, in simple terms failing means every one being against one, are you happy the way the curent football season ended and you want to tell us that he is a capable person for that position?

  12. if he is as good and human as some of you blind fans are saying, let him behave like a human being who accepts mistakes…..kalu is one guy who only left football after missing a penalty against Angola in the cosafa way after he was asked to retire, he was difficult when asked to leave the position of coach when he was vice president, he stood against his former faz president for a cosafa position which he lost terribly to that patel man and only got a vote for himself, he could not stand german based zambian players, he thinks administrative work involves using his left foot to kick people who oppose him….awe bane now he insults the government in order to attract their reaction so that fifa comes to ban us for you know what…rubbish!

  13. The (il)legal FAZ prezident bagz that other countriez invite to their tournaments becauze of “our competitiveness….,…..that our team haz great potential”. They call us becauze they want to carry a tag of having beaten the once mighty Zambia.

  14. Jc says:
    The wrangles at FAZ are nothing but hunger for power and sheer arrogance.Some people can smell copper in FAZ from FIFA. Oh my God! its a lot of money to fill Simaata’s horribly torn pockets. Can councillors see what Simaata is driving at. To cushion himself in FAZ money. Two years from now FAZ will be broke and Simaata will not have an explanation for it. Simaata and his coleagues should wait untiol 2010. They are not above FIFA. Bravo Kalu and the Executive.

  15. Dont ever resign,, these cowards know very well that quitters never win like the other guy who quit after 3 months when things got a bit tough. See out your 4 year mandate. Arrogant or not, you won the presidence legitimately.
    If the petition succeds with those forged signatures, then i will also do another 1 immediately the next executive comes in. Who will continue to suffer,, not these chaps at FAZ,, BUT THE PLAYERS and soccer fans who want to enjoy the game.

  16. How did Munaile win the Parliamentary seat ? Heard it was a court matter. How did it end,, why didnt he rsign that time too. There was no one to PULL DOWN may be ?
    those who live by petitions, they will be removed by petitions when their time comes. and that time we will not even forge a single signature. Mwatiphunzisa mweka mngoni.
