Zambia bet Namibia 4-1 today to retain their Cosafa Youth Championship crown in Gaborone.
A brace from Chakwa Lungu in the first half set the tone for Zambia in the final match played at the University of Botswana stadium in Gaborone today.
Lungu opened scores in the 11th minute and completed his brace three minutes later while team mate Rodrick Kabwe in the 44th minute.
Lewis Macha made it 4-0 after finishing off rebounding free-kick in the 63 minute.
Namibia’s consolation goal came in the 84th minute through Ikwaterua Tjozongoro.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe took bronze after defeating Madagascar 3-1 in the curtain-raiser played at the same venue.
But for Gods sake where do these boys go after graduating from under teams. coze we do not see them shine at senior level.these ma unders we have been winning. on the other side we must also conqure western + north african teams now
Irrational man the important point is that the win their games under a native Zambian coach. The do not alleviate at higher level because some one wants a cut whenever bonuses for national play are given.
Congrats my boys all the best, but don’t forget to spend your money on school, soccer is not after 40. Take care, no girls and Chibuku otherwise your career may end in chibolya. mwagwila nchito.
# 1 a very good question. where do these boys go after the unders? i think if we manage them well zambia has a potential. maybe we should be finding out from other countries, how do they do it? perhaps sending delegates to places like Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, etc to find out how they manage to expose and sell their boys to other big clubs. This is where we are still tracking behind, we do not have zambias in these top class clubs. where does it all go wrong?
These boys start drinking beer too much, look at Mbesuma, in zambia by this time we should have had lots of them playing in Europe, but alas Katata, utunjilinjili, lutuku, Ndobo worse more utukashyana. Anyway, congrats, boys- who is the coach if i may ask please for U20?
Congratulations to young chipolopolo and to young “Jose Mourinho” Mutapa Jnr kudos.
hey #5 nail on the head you have hit!! but again these kids need incentives to continue doing what they are doing. I think one way is offer soccer college/ uni scholarships and make soccer a little more lucrative. I think we fans also need to play our part by supporting the local leagues re: attendancies at soccer stadia
thats very impressive by the young chipolopolo’s. keep it up n i hope u will conitnue with the same spirit n maybe kalu n his collegues will fgured out a way to move u guys to higher level of soccer. now we need the afcon n world cup. i know you guys make get them all, u once got to the world cup before n fell short but this time u are getting it. good luck n don’t drink chibuku
The coach is oswald ‘mourinho’ mutapa jr and he is assisted by beston ‘quicksilver’ chambeshi….
The victory is good news in a year full of turmoil in FAZ. Just hope that these young boys will graduate to be very good players unlike in the past when they have ended up as beer masters and womanisers leading to the end of their promising careers
but fib Chelsea fimakula .kwati ni fi Zambia main team
#1 and #4 You are right. What we need is careful nurturing of these boys with a focus on 2014 when they will have matured. I was very dissapointed with the 1999 U-23 team which won silver at the All Africa Games after losing 4-3 on penalties to Cameroon. That was potentially a winning team but FAZ mismanaged it and in the end those boys were neglected. It could have gone to the World Cup finals had there been a plan for it.
#4 Kawaile.
I take your last question as my closing remarks WHERE DOES IT ALL GO WRONG??
Who the hell will answer this one; and it the first time we are asking this question??????
This is the best and the furthest Zed can do. Nothing more thereafter!
\:d/well done yang boys.
Devils and gunners who falls, will the gun manage to penetrate the so called ugly devil.
good play well done. this is always good news for our soccer
In Zambia it seems football kalilo, hence these boys stop going to school to only play football. As a result even when they reach a point where they are ripe to be able to play in advanced leagues they fail….they are unable to clearly understand instructions from a fast speaking coach who eventually gives up on them. Also they are taken advantage of by football officials cos they will not be having a plan of their own. If education can be encouraged among these young stars we will see progress in our football. But as every body have observed we have lot of talent in that U20 squad. Keep it up boys.
Well-done junior chipolopolo now aim high dont let Kalu and obstacles stand in the way of your dreams just push and reach greatness!
#w #4 and #12 We need progressive soccer bloggers like u to get Zambia on the World stage. Yes the 1999. U-23 side was one of the best in Africa They were twice runners up to Cameroon but then FAZ neglected them. We shudnt do the same to these 2 time COsafa champs! We have a winning team that shud take us further than we have ever been if FAZ plans well for them.
We need to start using the jabulani ball in Zambia. It is clear that our boys, during the Cecafa game, had a problem with it.
Congrats to the under-20 boys. I hope they are genuine under 20.
Please maintain the same team and nurture them jealously! The problem we have had is luck of consistence!
There r certain things Zed shud understand. These boys 2 develop into gr8 world players z a process.
Firstly they need psychological guidance at an early stage. Its said charity begins at home.If there z no psychological guidance or no charity in the family ,children become street keeps.
In Zed currently we hardly give psychological help to our young starts.
Secondly we don’t know how to sell young starts. One would wonders if there are soccer agents. When we r selling young players xpect big Europen teams to buy then.Well if any player frm Zed wishes 2 play in big teams like Liverpool he has to start by playing in ‘smaller’ clubs in Europe until is established. In smaller teams a player from Zed will often play as he is getting used to the European style of play.
it goes wrong from now on in 2 main ways,
1. they discover that with sporting success comes mahule and booze
2. Zambia is poisoned with scavanger football agents who sign these young chaps and sell them to rubbish clubs for quick money where they dissapear and are only known as foreign based, FAZ does not protect them, an Agent can register with FAZ with, we can call it a ”small financial gift”, maybe FAZ does not even get involved in Player to agent contracts, can anyone enlighten us on this issue
