United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has charged that there is lack of commitment in the UPND/PF pact to deliver a common agenda for the people of Zambia.
Mr. Hichilema described the recent statement by the Patriotic Front president Michael Sata that he runs a tribal party as disgusting.
Mr. Hichilema said that it is important that political leaders in the country remove the dent of tribalism in Zambian politics.
He said that it is wrong for the Patriotic front leader Michael Sata to say things that only benefit him.
He has further described the statement as propaganda meant to divert Zambians freedom of choice of leadership that will bring economic and social development.
Mr. Hichilema also said it is unfortunate that the Patriotic Front has failed to meet the UPND to discuss the progress of the Pact.
The UPND leader was speaking this morning on Tikambilane program on Joy FM radio.

HH, here is my advice for you. You should never ever have fallen for the temptation of forming alliances just to remove the MMD from power. The MMD is not invincible and the Zambian people are wise to vote for the party that they believe will deliver the goods. You cannot join with a man who left the MMD not because he was unhappy with its performance but because he was sulking when the nshima wasn’t given to him. You have great minds in UPND which if well strategised you can be number 2 party or even beat the MMD. Bring in your own style of politics and don’t ape anyone.

SOME members of the UPND National Management Committee (NMC) last Thursday challenged their president Hakainde Hichilema to call for a convention before the 2011 elections in the wake of his two consecutive losses and expiration of his tenure in 2011.
“The NMC members challenged president Hichilema to call for a convention before 2011 so that those who want to contest for positions including the presidency could do so and if he wants to defend his position, he is free to re-contest.
But his response was that there is no money to hold the convention. But the NMC members said if there is will, money will be found.”

CONTD The Pact was an idea which appealed to both HH and Sata as it would enable each of them to mask the tribal tag, in much the same way as one uses perfume to mask bad body odours. But the problem with their strategy was that HH and Sata did not take into account the fact that both of them were headstrong and would not compromise the ultimate prize. In fact they had no room to manouevre because their tribal sponsors gave them only one mission: get our tribe into State House. CONTD

CONTD In the case of Sata, the tribal basis of PF was more subtle mainly because (i) he did not have to go through an election as HH did, with the resultant negative fall out (fortunately UPND has become a wiser party for that), and (ii) Bemba was just taken casually as a metropolitan language spoken on the Copperbelt and Lusaka Urban, outside Bembaland. PF managed to hoodwink the other tribes in CB and Lusaka who use Bemba as a language of communication in their everyday lives. These brothers and sisters did not suspect that they were being used “to escort” a particular tribe to State House in much the same way that PF and UPND wanted to use each other for the same purpose. LATEST: ZNBC TV News reports that irate PF cadres besieged MOBI and MUVI TV studios to vent their anger at the screening of Chanda Chiimba III’s ‘Stand Up For Zambia’ programme. Now like as one viewer said, PF cadres should simply ask Sata or the Post whether the stories in the series are not true. As far as I know, Chanda Chimba III simply quotes and shows pictures of past and present editions of the Post as they have reported or quoted Sata.

Sata is not a sane man. He is the worst tribalist. In today`s Post he is now urging opposition members to to unite to get rid of MMD. Sata has now realized his party alone has no chance. Sata should know that no serious opposition party can help him get into state. Sata has failed to sort out his character. He is calling Tongas tribalist and yet in his village in Mpika no one votes for HH. Because of his tribal attitudes, people of North Western have vowed never to give Sata significant votes. You can say HH is a tribalist even a million times, but atleast he has principles and integrity, and has managed upnd a party with principled MPS who have not so far resigned from the party for greener pastures. UPND MPS are the best as they have managed to move important motions in parliament and have shown civil manners in the way they run matters. They protected the local people of Munali Nickel from losing land to investors and proposed that they should be given title deeds to protect them from manipulation. When I was growing up in the Southern Province and Lusaka Province, it was common to interact with neighbours of all diverse backgrounds and we lived in harmony even to the extent of learning how to speak some words of our neighbours’ languages.

Hospitals,Schools,Roads, etc need a patriotic leader who can be proud of our nation.Shameful that we couldnt even afford to evacuate our own people when they were stranded in Libya due to the fact that we dont have a national airline.Some poorer countries still have a national airline.As zambians we have nothing to show.Our leaders apart from Kaunda have all but let us down.Time we got together and improve our country please

I have no interest in what you say about PF, UPND or MMD. My interest is on how bitter and twisted you sound when you talk about Bembas or Bemba-Kaponyas to you. You should bear in mind that one learns a language out of necessity. That is why you learnt to speak Nyanja when you emmigrated to Lusaka from Tongaland. I know a lot of Bembas who grew up in Sounthern and Western provinces who speak very fluent Tonga and Lozi respectively. Perhapsa the Bembas you are talking about do not see the need to learn Nyanja as most people in Lusaka urban understand Bemba. Be real mate.

Zambia is not yet ready for change of leadership from MMD despite MMD not performing to expectations. This is my conclusion from the rantings on this site and from the Political parties. If i had my way, i was gonna cancel the elections, close down parliament and let RB rule by decree with the help of a few Chines advisors.
