The National Restoration party (NAREP) has charged that the MMD government is playing double standards by threatening to revoke broadcasting licenses from Radio stations airing political campaign adverts.
This follows Chief government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha’s statement suggesting that all radio stations playing campaign songs risk losing their licenses because the Electoral Commission of Zambia has not declared the commencement of political campaigns ahead of this year’s tripartite elections.
NAREP president Elias Chipimo Junior says government’s stance on political adverts is an attempt aimed at silencing people’s voices on various issues of national interest.
He has charged that the state media has faced extreme government interference adding that it is unfortunate that the Rupiah Banda led administration is issuing unnecessary threats against the platform that the opposition in the country is freely using.
Mr. Chipimo adds that it is pointless for government to issue such threats when the ruling party has its campaign adverts running on the same radio stations being threatened.
He explains that the threats by Lieutenant General Shikapwasha on the media are unacceptable as they are not backed by any law.
The opposition leader has since called on the media in the country to collectively reject such threats stating that the move by government is an infringement on the freedom of the press.

SHIKAPWASHA is the breed(dangerous/dictatorial ) of the GADAFI inner special advisors.Zambians be warned against such grown up advisors, they can leave Zambia in the position where Libya and other middle east countries were left, only to plunge in a forever dangerous/dictatorial suppressive and bloody thirsty regimes.In African politics when some leaders or a ruling party reaches 20years and above they never want to leave. At that stage they are ready to kill/murder/rape/kidnap/silence and do propaganda using party and government machinery and systems for thmselves,friends and families to stay in power. SO WATCH SHIKAPWASHA & CO. Limited.And extend your carefulness to those on simlar age category who just want nothing nbut position and statehouse.

MMD are behaving in Old UNIP ways, they are out of touch with modern politics, why should someone not start Campaigning?? Waiting for MMD to start first? This party thinks it owns Zambia.
A party with strategy should not wait for last minute campaign. It’s like school. They say confidence is preparation in Advance.

My observation is that you are on behalf of SATA guilty of the vices and similarities of SATAN because my blog does not mention of SATA.However I surely hate SATAN and if SATA behaves like one,I definately hate it.
