MMD calls for law to deter ex Ministers from oath flouting

Share

An official in the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has appealed to President Rupiah Banda to ensure enactment of a law that will deter former Cabinet Ministers from breaking oath when fired from Government.

Lusaka Constituency Chairperson Chilekwa Munkonge made the appeal saying the move will bring sanity to both MMD and Government.

Mr Mukonge also condemned politics of insults that were being perpetrated by some former Cabinet Ministers against President Banda.

In an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, he also assured the President of 100 percent votes in this year’s elections sayng the opposition had nothing to offer.

The current Zambian Constitution stipulates oath of allegiance taken by every member of the National Assembly before taking their seat and they subscribe to it.

  1. Very good idea ba Munkonge.Should have mentioned it to ba Chiluba ba ex president when he started divulging info about Ba Sata,or that Mumbi fellow.Where did he get those transcripts of wat Sata said in secretive cabinet and government meetings?

  2. Now that revelations by Mpombo concerns RB, the government should enact a law to forbid former ministers from divulging secrets. Chiwamila galu.

  3. So Mpombo is right, we now know how Mad Dogs behave, puppies start barking, and soon, we’ll hear long big nose Shi Chi Mphuno barking to enact such a law.

Democracy is not like having sex with your wife in the bedroom, and what happens there, remains there even when you devorce. Democracy is about transparency and accountability to the electorate. There is nothing that must be a secret to the public in Cabinet when it comes to issues that are against and for the public interest, unless it’s bordering on state security.

MMD, what do you really want from us, ZAMBIANS? BRING THAT LAW, WE GO ARAB WAY SHAME ON YOU.

  4. The laws are already in place. Mpombo has not divulged any govt secrets but merely alerted the country to the scandals that would have caused more misery and needless loss of lives. We have the right to know about scandals that the govt is involved in.

  5. First andand foremost tthe issue Mpombolicious is talking about was never discussed in CabinetCabinet, therefore it does not qualify as SECRET. Secondly, Zambians, let us not regret like Ugandans who only a few weeks ago, they voted for Yoweli but now they want him out. Ifwe, let us vote Banda out overwhelmingly so that we don’t regret a week later. Tabwelantho.

  6. Do these wankers understand what freedom of information entails? Deals done by relatives of the President will become secrets!! ATASE! That is why even emoluments for the President and his ministers is a secret in Zambia. If people knew how much they earn, they will stop wondering how some can afford to buy brand new Landrovers while others are still bouncing cheques!!! Wake up Zambians!!!

  7. Twacula bane! one minute they wake up to remove abuse of office clause of the anti corruption, the other minute they want to introduce a lwa to bar former ministers from telling zambians the truth. Where are we going kanshi bane? Banda ala tupenya. These MMD *****s are treating us as if we were fools. Pliz zambians let us show them the exit door.

  8. Mr Mpombo has been very nicely asked to release his letter of resignation to show whether the reasons he is divulging now are the same reasons that he put on paper. He calls the president bonkers – how I wish it was Kaunda’s days. If the “scandals” Mr Mpombo is revealing today were real and he was a really concerned Zambian, couldn’t he really have made this very clearly from the beginning? Sounds more like sour grapes to me.

  9. How s.t.u.p.i.d can MMD members be. Firstly Mpombo wasnt fired he resigned. This is how bastardery is when you follow blindly. And this silly Adviser no. 9 has forgeten like a goldfish that Mpombo letter of resignation was very short and contained no such reasons stated about the arms deal. Youre all animals and restricting Zambian poeple from development. Not that PF will bring about any too. Bloody monkeys

  10. Munkonge is a big time supplier chasing payments in government ministries… Police and Defence ministries. We understand why he’s allucinating.

  11. ” he also assured the President of 100 percent votes in this year’s elections ”
This is Utopia at its worst!
Even when elections are rigged, they “winner” doesn’t get 100%

If this is advice RB is fed, then he is in trouble big league!

  12. Chang Zeign #10 – Continue with your s.illiness – nothing will materialize from your u.seless Mpombo madness. The man is just a loser and let him continue making a fuss of the so-called arms bringing in names of senior army officers – he will be a very sad man soon. He and you, his gullible followers are not going anywhere. Continue dreaming.

  13. What LAWs your LPM made your Chief of Intelligence be arrested, be subjected to inhumane treatment without asking him to be absolved against prosecution per the State Security Act….so what law do you want now? Just continue telling the nation all your dirt we need to know what goes on in your bedrooms

  14. Just where does one get 100% vote in a democratic society. Nangu nibu bootlicker takwaba. This man should have failed his mathematics terribly if at all he went to school! I am not saying RB will lose the elections NO but lets not spice too much!

  15. A constituency chair person sure Ba munkonje no Nsoni sure. Opposition MPs shall kill the bill, he thinks it’s unip days of presidential dreaming up of bills and writing them into law hahahaha. Some one should define the term democracy for some people please.

  16. Ok this topic was so funny even my sentence construction is failing today lol mwe hahahahahaha.

  17. For such things we dont even need a law if the members are genuine… you dont get fired and start talking rubbish all the way.

But because of too much political protitution in Zambian politics its a welcome idea not only for MMD but one that even PF would appreciate remember that short Mumbi guys who rants on and on

  18. DON’T THROW A BOOMERANG IF YOU CAN’T CATCH IT

How many LAWS are you gonna enact just to hide you bottoms. Nga mwanye cisushi then you start thinking of a law to stop people waving their hands passing the nose, stop others realizing something smell is cooking. What a Govt. All laws are just centered on barring someone from challenging the Govt and its party. Degree close to protect RB, Office abuse to protect looted tutemba. Now that Mpombo has revealed what RB did, you want another law to protect him. Some of these laws will haunt you later. Chiluba realized he had messed up only when his two terms were finishing. Now he wanted another law to change what he had protected all along to stop KK. Don’t throw a boomerang if you can’t catch it when it comes back.

  19. RB will be lucky to even get 20% this time around! Bootlikers continue cheating yourselves. Chilekwa just talk the talk ;you have LT to give you the space because you are MMD.LT mwaya sana don’t you have any other news sources other than ZANIS,RB’s mouth piece! One wonders whom you will be quoting after the POLLS this year!

  20. This is interesting! Wat abt Wat Ba FTJ did with the tunnel revelations, isn’t that more serious in matters of security than wat the man Mpombo has revealed?

  21. Once booted out of office, all top MMD leaders are to be made to face the music for their misdeeds. In addition, they should not be allowed to hold public office for 20 years, and ineligible to vote in any national election.
