An aspiring Member of Parliament for Lundazi Central says the opposition Patriotic Front (PF) is gaining ground in the Eastern province.
Evans Ngoma said that the winds of change being preached about in many parts of the country have also reached the province.
Mr. Ngoma argued that people in the province have cast aside tribal politics and are in support of the PF leader, Michael Sata.
He cited some of the ills of the current MMD government as the failure to equip hospitals in the rural areas.
Meanwhile, PF Eastern Province Chairperson, Lukas Phiri has alleged that people in the province are bitter with the MMD government.
Mr. Phiri claimed that the MMD has failed adding that farmers are unable to find markets for millet and sunflower among other agricultural produce.
And Mr. Phiri disclosed that PF Vice President, Guy Scot has cut short his Eastern province trip because of the visit by Republican President, Rupiah Banda, who is in Mfuwe.
Mr. Phiri, who is former Chipangali Member of Parliament, was speaking in a telephone interview with MUVI TV News.

Ok naikuta nomba ubwali nakapenta so let me comment.Indeed the winds of change are blowing in all directions.Last week it was western now its central and as reported Eastern.People should move with these noble winds of change if we are to see development in our country. This is not good for the mmd vuvuzelas who will definitely comment after me.Wapya baisa donchi kubaba everywhere…….
I wonder which eastern province this is…
Easterners are conservatives. It will take time for them to switch from the MMD to PF. They do not accept change easily.
…’Gay scot has cut his visit to the province due to Rupiah banda@….This does not make sense to say the least. So he can not be in the same province as RB?
Eastern Province will shock MMD because people there want change and they will not vote in tribal lines. When the Charismatic PF Leader goes there, more people will ditch the corrupt MMD and join PF the only party which will bring change. But our biggest catch was Western Province and that’s all SATA needed to dislodge the corrupt regime.
VOTE MICHAEL CHILUFYA SATA AND PF IF YOU WANT CHANGE.
Beware of tribal UPND which just split votes.
DONCHI KUBEBA. 2011 NI PABWATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
#4 upto now you do know that you cannot do campaign when the president is in that area for security reasons and that has been for a long time infact they cannot give you permit for meetings if already givey police will advice you not to continue. am not saying is good or bad that another issue.
#2 I forgive you as I can see that you are blogging from England, and it looks like you have been gone for years such that you have forgotten that there is Eastern Province in Zambia We are talking about Eastern Province of Zambia where RB hails from. Do not doubt the story about PF popularity in Eastern Province. Some of you will faint when results are announced.
Hahaha, Sata said the same thing in 2008, he said he was very popular in Eastern province. PF can try to convince themselves that they are popular in Western province but they can never be popular in Eastern province. Easterner are extremely conservative and support each other.
Don’t be delusional PF.
#6, interesting theory there, thanks. I hope RB does not maximise on that phenomena
Neo nikavotele wamene uyu wasu. A Sata yayi mweo. Okambakamba tyala! This is typical of easterners always behind in political change. In 1991, they still voted for UNIP when everybody was for MMD. In 2011 they will vote for MMD when everbody will vote for PF. Yayi mwanisekesha teti neo!!!!
EASTERNERS WAKE UP AND BE COUNTED.YOU ARE ALWAYS THE LAST TO BE COUNTED WHEN IT COMES TO CHANGE OF GOVERMENT.PF IS LEADING THE WIND OF CHANGE. LETS MOVE IN THE BOAT.
Yai amweo salu nikukhosi. Khote khote wanjila kwalinga mutima nikomweko. the other man’s meat is the other man’s poison. What you like is not what they like.Lukas akubanya cha batumbuka.Nimutezi chomene Lukasi
Simata & Kamanga have written to the Asian Football Confederation complaining that the goal that Kalusha scored in the Essien fundraisng match was an off side. Flaburgusting, simply heratushious
Leadership by these Nothern primates is but a waste of time. They are very distructive and Zambia will be driven backwards if put in office. Trust me, dont give them a chance especially these monister called SATA.
God bless you all
Reloaded pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
This story confirms that these stories of PF popularity are all propaganda. In 1991 Sata repeatedely appeared on TV expressing his hatred for the easterners for not voting for MMD. He clearly stated that the province would not receive any form of development becoz of that. True to his word, the province was abandoned by MMD whilst Sata was in govt. Massive developments have happened in the last 10 years and it is now possible to even drive a corrolla on the great east road. Roads in chipata are tarred and others leadng to lundazi, mfuwe and isoka are in progress. I put MMD at 90% vote there wiping out any gained for PF in Lusaka and CB. The question is, how would Sata bring development to the Lozis and Tongas if he passionately hates the easterners supposedly his tribal cousins?
#14 Braine – Zambia is not a tribalist country. You must be a foreigner to be using tribalist and regional language. I know foreigners thrive where locals are infighting but you wont thrive in Zambia as we are intact. So Tongas, Bembas, Lozi’s Chewas, Mambwe’s, Namwangas etc lets stay united for our common cause (porverty alleviation and development centred on locals) and vote for the man that touches your vision.l
#10 & 11 Easterners are wise and that is why they never voted for the disasterous Chiluba regime which Sata was very much part of. Why should they start voting for Sata now when they have rejected him and his type of politics when he was Chiluba’s henchman especially after he referred to them as animals when opposing a development project namely the Mfuwe road?Â
Iam from Eastern province and the truth is that PF is just there in words and a very few oportunistic pensioners who have run broke after squandering all they got from the mines/civil service. Places especially Chama and Lundazi can never vote for PF becoz of what MMD has done that side.
Bloggers please remove laziness by letting post analyse issues for you but please do you own research.
I repeat, i ve just arrived from Chama and get it from me…..there is no PF that side……
7 where are you blogging from yourself? I m not in Englland am pa zed my friend, just arrived from chipata hence my question about which eastern province is being discussed here! lets wait for election results my friend.
