Mpombo denies organizing people against attending FTJ’s funeral

Share

Kafulafuta Member of Parliament (MP) George Mpombo has dismissed accusations that he is organizing people to shun Second Republican President Fredrick Chiluba’s funeral.

This follows accusations in a newspaper article quoting Forum for Leadership Search Executive Director Edwin Lifwekelo as having unearthed a scam in which Mr. Mpombo and others are allegedly organizing some people to boycott Dr Chiluba’s funeral.

But Mr. Mpombo has said that the allegations are baseless and aimed at gaining political mileage by the MMD.

The Parliamentarian has further charged that there is a tragic leadership failure in the ruling MMD adding that the harassment of perceived political opponents by MMD cadres at the funeral of Dr Chiluba is unfortunate.

He says people should not politicize the former President’s funeral because he was a national leader who deserves to be mourned with respect.

Meanwhile Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) leader, Charles Milupi has advised the MMD leadership to reflect on the unruly behavior of its cadres at Dr. Chiluba’s funeral.

Mr. Milupi says the MMD should realize that when one assumes the role of presidency, they become national leaders regardless of political affiliation.

But Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Ndandula Siamana says the police is not aware of the harassment or barring of some individuals from entering the funeral house of the late second republican President Fredrick Chiluba.

Police Spokesperson Ndandula Siamana told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that the service has not received any report from any mourner contrary to claims by some quarters claiming that they were being harassed by suspected Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) cadres at the funeral house.

She has since advised the public to report to the nearest police station if they are being harassed or barred from attending the second republican President’s funeral.

Yesterday, a radio phoenix reporter is alleged to have been barred from entering the premises of the lodge in Lusaka where the funeral of Dr. Chiluba is being held.

  1. But Zambia Police Service Spokesperson Ndandula Siamana says the police is not aware of the harassment or barring of some individuals from entering the funeral house of the late second republican President Fredrick Chiluba.
Sorry to say it, but the Zambia Police is full of dribbling i.d.i.o.t.s.

  2. ok i will go with my leader SATA to the funeral house, should any JERABO nonsense cause problems, we shall not report to police but take them on.

  3. Leadership Search Executive Director Edwin Lifwekelo is an asshole, the ***** has no more morals , he is worse than a pig . ***** is probably from the worst gene pool of fools.

  4. The police spokesperson is nothing but an MMD cadre, she claims she is not aware of any violent behavior by the Malawian William Banda and his fellow parasites at the funeral, she must be very asleep on duty and not fit for the position she holds.

  5. But who is this William banda who can’t be disciplined? This man was terror in UNIP days and surely, this time and age..2011, he should make headlines again even after being deported? Please, stop accusing ba Braggadacio Mpombo, the man has no energy and zeal to fight the machinery, he has enough on his plate. Mr sata deserves to mourn his comrade and confidant Titus Kafupi Chiluba. The two are a mirror of each other.

  6. Hahaaaaa…..cadres have found cheap meals at Kafupi’s funeral. That is quite clever, how ever…eat the meat and drink the chibuku without being too overzealous by chasing genuine mourners. Please, can somebody assure the Cobra there will be no stone throwers anymore. He can sit side by side with Bwezani, KK,HH and others in a dignified manner. Infact, if he sits with Bwezani, the cadres will not throw stones lest they miss and hit the boss….This cadre mentality really irks me, the same chaps even if the Gov’t changes or is retained, never ever benefit anything, they just continue in the same state.

  7. All the Zambia Police top brass must go in the coming government. They have been a stinking shame in the way they have conducted themselves.

  8. We might have a UPND govt but NOT a PF govt in our lifetime. Please advise Sata accordingly. He is too old and has made many mistakes in his long life. I wonder why he can’t settle on a farm and look after generations of great and grand children. Galivanting in shanties addressing people at that age is shameful. Go to the farm, may be someone will come and wake you up to become President if it is God given. It is such characters who end up costing the nation so much money by having their funerals in lodges instead of their established farms. Please ba Sata, bu a farm and contribute some food to your grandchildren.

  9. 07 days mourning is a long period let tekere give us the drama .i know alot of u are enjoying free show from the jerabos

  10. What a country. Innuendos, conspiracy, violence, tribalism, indecency, partiality – all in one huff! How can we develop surely???

  11. Lifwekelo is always unearthing scams!! You’re such a useless bootlicking i.dio.t, your kids should be gravely embarrassed to have you as their father….

  13. IT is a tragedy really for the so called Zambia police to say they are not aware of any harassment when they have a platoon of their ranks at Chiluba’s funeral who have seen what has been happening to opposition leaders and journalists. Besides, William Banda is on record as having said they will not allow Michael Sata to attend the funeral. Add all this together, we can only conclude that this country is on auto pilot. Despite all these reports, we have cops saying they are not aware. That is why thieves are ruining this country because the police has gone to sleep. We have seen William Banda and other cadres instructing police to arrest or stop Zambians at public functions. It is however comforting to note that this is excatly the same manner in which UNIP behaved in their dying days.

  14. Mpombo at it again. Waba amasushi mudala. People remember what happened at late Mazoka’s funeral. Some people including MMD members were harrassed. Pa Zed ni normal. Tempers should be high especially that Chiluba died suddenly. POISON or AKALUMBA? From Who? Of Course………………………………..

  15. My worry is that most of you bloggers are in diaspora. Even if you oppose your vote wont be here at all. You need to comeback home and face the issues we do back home. If we all decided to leave camp Chinese, Indians, West Africans etc shall come and fill in the blanks. Its a wake up call guys time is not too late. Lets suffer now for our future generations.

  16. This blog is a cheat, shows that am in USA, am in Lusaka, Great East Road using LAP Green ADSL Connection, well well well.

  17. BA EDWIN YOUR FOOLISHNESS IS ENCYCLOPEDIC JUST LIKE HUMPREY KALONDE CHIFIRE WHY YOU ARE GIFTED WITH UNEARTHING IRRELEVANT ISSUES WHICH ADD NO VALUE TO THE ZAMBIA.YOU MUST BE CURSED.

  18. Trace Phiri #23, #24, we are overwhelmed by flip-flop politicians who support rubbish then decide they made a mistake. When we come home we are taxed worse than tourists – how are we going to contribute to our country when we are treated like strangers??? Remember because we are in systems that work we are extremely vulnerable and therefore not able to compete on the shark-trail that is prevalent in Zed at the moment. Haven’t you asked yourself why a lot of diasporans are asking for dual citizenship???

  19. I have unearthed a scam that Edwin Chifire and Gregory Lifwekelo ( did I get their names mixed up?) are nothing but spineless low lifers who will say anything for “Anikonde Boss” and 30 pieces of silver

  20. NUMBER 13 PLEASE KEEP DREAMONG IF THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY BUT SATA IS FOR SURE THE NEXT 4TH THE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA.PLEASE KEEP DREAMING FOR HH UNTIL SATA GETS SWORN IN THATS WHEN YOU WAKE UP. VIVA BA SATA

  21. Its sad that when mmd cadres are in the wrong, the ploice is never aware,if its the opposition cadres, the police is quick to arrest and announce the arrests to the public. This behaviour will affect the mmd’s campaigns in the near future as people will use this against them.@#13 please for once stick to the issue at hand.i wonder what you do in the UK,you are probably a DIAPER.COM amafi yatukote is affecting your thinking.

  22. This is just a thought process. Wouldn’t it be nicer that His excellency Rupiah Banda or His Right Honorable George Kunda and Mr. Sata arrive in the same vehicle to send the right signal locally, regionally and internationally. We might have differences at political levels but when it comes to national issues we are united. Also, this will avoid negativities of all sorts by disgruntled cadres of ruling and opposition parties.

There might be protocols involved but they can be sorted out.

  23. NUMBER YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS DREAMING BECAUSE SATA WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA, HE MIGHT JUST DIE BEFORE THE END OF HIS FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE, HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT HE HAS A HEART PROBLEM? WE DO NOT WANT ANOTHER PRESIDENTIAL BYE ELECTION.

  24. NUMBER 30 YOU ARE THE ONE WHO IS DREAMING BECAUSE SATA WILL NEVER BE PRESIDENT OF ZAMBIA, HE MIGHT JUST DIE BEFORE THE END OF HIS FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE, HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THAT HE HAS A HEART PROBLEM? WE DO NOT WANT ANOTHER PRESIDENTIAL BYE ELECTION.
