600 UPND members in Monze threaten not to vote for HH if adopted MP is not withdrawn

Over 600 UPND members in Monze’s Moomba constituency have petitioned the National Management Committee-NMC against the third term for Hon. Vitalis Mooya.

In a letter dated August 8,2011 and signed by Constituency Chairman Jones Mweemba Mweemba, the members told its NMC that they don’t want any third term for Hon. Mooya.

”We are the voters and party members making the same person to be called Honorable. In this year’s election, we want to excercise our rights and democracy by taking part in the adoption of candidates”,Mweemba said.

Mweemba further disclosed that the party in the area met to discuss their resolution and that every member has agreed to usher in new people espcially women.

”This idea has been supported by many UPND members from all the wards of the constituency.Attached hereto is a list of over 600 party members against the third term.We will be looking forward for the quick response before announcement of adopted candidates”,Mweemba added.

Meanwhile,Mweemba said the party is behind Monica Mainza,a woman who beat Hon. Mooya during the preliminaries.

He has also accused Hon. Mooya of bribing some of the party officials by buying them suits in return for votes.

”It is true and we have information that some of the constituency and district officials were bought suites they wore during the interviews.I was the chairman during the interviews and Hon. Mooya lost to Ms. Mainza who is the prefered candidate because she stays with the people and knows what is good for the constituency”,Mweemba said.

And the constituency chairman said the party will not vote for its leader Hakainde Hichilema if Hon. Mooya is adopted to re-contest the Moomba seat.

”Our party leader Hakainde Hichilema risks losing elections in Moomba constituency if Hon. Moomba goes for the third term because we will not campaign for him.Hon Mooya has failed the people of Moomba and everyone is questioning our leader as to why he is not told the trueth about Hon.Mooya”,he added.

  1. Its about 4weeks before election date and a final list of canditates is not yet finalised? This is lack of seriousness. We need to vote for a party that is organised! sha!

  2. Mooba or Mainza its the same thing, politicians will not take u any where, u just vote to make them rich and famous! for how long have u been voting? wake up Choma boys and zambians!

  3. “It is true and we have information that some of the constituency and district officials were bought suites they wore during the interviews”. More problems for HH are coming. Some candidates have bribed their way to PM candidate. We have this information. In a few days will make announement. in another constituency.

  4. HH and Sata share the same attributes of dictatorial tendencies. Both UPND and PF must be serious as there are only few days to go into national elections.

  5. Just shut up loosers and keep on watching our space. Come 20 th sept, you will all be small boys when HH is ushered to state house.Viva HHHHHHHH

  6. Rats and maggots in the cheese cellar! The novice HH can’t even get it right in his so called home town and province and if can’t convince cow herds at his own cattle ranch to vote for him why should a monkey eating kawalala, fishing eating tubulu, rat eating Gearbox Lungu, sand surfing munyukunyuku, and likishi dancing kaonde vote for him?

Details obtained from National assembly website. Looking at his age the man is old and has no energy to continue helping others. Mr Mooya should not have applied to contest Moomba seat again.

  8. The grass root must be respected even in this case. If Mooya was beaten at constituency level by the lady he should not have been adopted by UPND. Politics is not always about being an MP, true politicians can help people at different levels of the party. Being an MP is not a personal to holder post. In 2016 we do not want to see the name of REQUEST MUNTANGA on the ballot paper in Kalomo constituency, he must pave way to us younger ones.

  9. HH and the leadership should listen. We cannot afford losing votes. I hear there is a problem in L’stone and Kantombora constituency as well and people say UPND is likely to lose those two sits. Why not replace those unwanted with the ones the people want?

  10. UPND must, for once, listern to the grassroots. No need for third termers like mooya and the Monze central MP jACK mWIIMBU. Those members of the party who are serious can still contribute effective to the party in other roles and not necessarily as MPs. HH, this is your time tyo prove a point, otherwise any stupied decision at this point will spell doom and disaster for you

  11. Okey six hundred people in Nomba paid by the opposition MMD :) to distabilise the incoming ruling party UPND. Mr . V Mooya is a strong candidate and asset to the party. Abash sour grapes. any how even in MMD people are not all happy case in point Munali and Isoka.

  12. even Chilanga has a problem. If UPND continues with this undemocratic adoption process, even magande will get more votes.they want to be democratic in other provinces where as in southern they are not.Remember Tongas are a decentralized society they do not worship anyone.continue and you shall suffer Hakaivotela Helike.

  13. Ati HH is Obama? Research before you start likening yourselves to distinguished states men. This year is for change and on Sata and PF period. Those who have been snagging saw a glimpse of of what is yet to come on inauguration day 22nd September 2011. PF president successfuly filed in his nomination papers with mass of supporters including high court staff members. As usual fi ZNBC could not show the country their President in waiting and how well the man is accepted in every breadth and length of our country. Somehow Muvi TV did the kudos. Kwali chinkupiti wabantu bane and more is coming in the ballot. Viva Sata, viva PF. Any attempts to rig votes will be met with full wrath of the people regardless of who is planning and/or perpetuating it.

  14. HH is stubborn and now the nation knows who broke the PACT. Chimbwi afwile intangalala, you can’t have it both ways. So genuine people yearning for regime change must rally behind MC Sata and PF and take Zambia to great heights because Sata and PF are consistent and mean serious business to liberate Zambians out of modern slavery in brought about by expired MMD. 20th September vote for Sata, vote pabwatoo. Dont waste your vote on expired MMD and incompetent HH.

  15. @ I SEE CHANGE, don’t let crowds fool you. The power is in the balot box and not people just doing chimpwena. I too talk a walk into Cairo road yesterday to see the PF supporters that created drama and entertainment afer their leader filed in their nominations but will i vote on the boat?? NO. Ask the FDD; they had bigger crowds than Mazoka, and even bigger crowds than the current of Sata’s crowds but did they win? Let’s keep our wishes to ourselves and hope our respective candidates will win. it’s only about 41 days to go. Both Sata and RB who are seemingly in the front runners wont have it easy.

  16. @ HOMOHABILIS SATA , ok i have my voter’s card and you have yours vote for HH i will vote for PF hope you get the logic vote for HH i will vote for PF not Sata but PF(Hope you wise enough to get the logic) in case you fail don’t fill shy to ask.

  17. My advise for you people there is that just go Pabwatooooooooooooo if really you want the real change. VIVA PF.

  18. PF is not anywhere near statehouse..we don’t want Tanzanians to rule..he’s a dictator..we want peace..HH is beta than satana..who killed Paul Tembo!

  19. @ 23 Avenger – I am very much wake. Sata isn’t winning these elections either according to my expectations and wishes. If my comment about the FDD crowds being bigger than Mazoka’s makes you think I am UPND, you are off the mark. Mine will be on RB.
In fact, the FDD crowds were even bigger than Levy’s as well.. but did they win?? Big NO NO… For your own info, yesterday’s crowds and euphoria were less than what the PF displayed in 2008, so you must start worrying my friend. PF’s crowds in 2008 were bigger than RB’s but they lost. I was amongst the Ubwato chanting people in the streets (coz it feels good) but I did a dont kubeba and voted for RB.

  20. @ 27 – it’s a complex question and I bet you that others could do powerful researches on this and be awarded genuine PHD’s for unlocking this paradox. I would say the dynamics are different (and I must say I am purely basing this purely on my own thoughts and the limited interaction with people from my village which I have done – no concrete research!!) in rural areas compared to urban centres. a) we in urban centres pay tax so we tend to feel the pain when politicians promise and dont deliver – villagers dont 2) fertiliser support programmes and such programmes make sense for the rural people 3) POST newspaper doent reach the rural areas so they dont get to know about the opposition etc.. It’s a complex one.

  21. @ 29 – Because the vital ecocominc and social statistics are all in their favour which signifies that they are on the right path. I bounce the same question genuinely back to you. With all the vital stats indicating the economy is on the right trajectory, why arent you voting for MMD?

  22. Mweemba is corrupt stop agitating discontent u a bot yourself UPND has fielded more female candidates than other parties. No reversing, 600 is a lie. This mweemba exhibits pet jealousy you wont win by it.

  23. ODI,ODI,ODI,ODI,….THE CHIBWATO IS COMING YOUR WAY……PREPARE FOR THE BATTLE……AFTER SATA HAS VISTED SOUTHERN PROVINCE, THERE WILL BE NO UPND TO TALK ABOUT!!!

  24. No Name####3 AND#### Q&A ### YOU GUYS ARE ABOVE AVERAGE HUMAN BEINGS ON THIS SITE. CONGRATS. I LIKE YOUR MATURE DEBATE. INFACT NO NAME HAS WON ME. MY VOTE GOES TO RB. BY THE I WAS AT SUPPREM COURT, MEN I COULDNT BELIEVE WHAT I SAW. PF CROWD WAS 3 TIMES SMALLER. NOT ONLY AM I VOTING FOR MMD BUT AM ALSO CONVINCED MMD WILL CARRY THE DAY.

  25. @32 Mik… you’ve said my actual thoughts, if you had taken just a minute too long your post would have come from me! I am also deeply impressed with the cool, objective debate between No Name and Q & A. I was just waiting for the latter to give a response which is still awaited….

    Cool and exemplary!!

  26. Very impressed by the articulate mature debate on this comment thread…keep it up guys we need more sensibly contributors like you irrespective of which platform you’re standing on ..stellar job guys!!!

  27. @No Name i went for lunch and was held up by work here is what i don’t like about MMD and what has made the loose in urban areas on a personal basis,
    – Am an average earner and i pay about K 3,000,000 tax on a monthly basis and i don’t see the fruits of my tax.
    – MMD’s foreign policy is too weak such that they don’t check how investors behave nor punish them when the bleach the labor laws.
    – MMD media imbalance
    – In these day and age MMD and RB should not be cheating us on last minute developments which ent approved by parliament as though we are still in the federal republic day when people would easily be bought with simple propaganda.
    – MMD does not respect us the Zambian citizens by laying to us on various issues of national interest, we need seriousness in governance.

  28. @ Q&A. Solid pioints. Re media imbalance, I doubt PF would be any better as most of them (Sata, mulongoti, mangani, masebo, mbita, mpombo etc) have been part and parcel of the MMD propaganda machinery which have led us to where we are today. Why will they change these laws and practices start working in their favour if/when they form govt? Only UPND isnt tested in this regard. Re development projects, i must say i havent read the budget to sift out what was approved and what wasnt. Note however that alot of schools and hospitals were built in pursuit of meeting the MDGs on health & education. These were planned way back under Levy’s reign and they are only coming to fruition under RB. Most of your tax has gone to this cause!!

  29. To the people of Monze I urge you to give Veritas Moya a chance he may be not suitable there but he is a serius contributor especially on technical matters in parliament. That lady Monica may have to stand as councillor. We may send that lady to parliament and she may end being an observer.

  30. Don’t vote with your heart, vote with your mind! Don’t vote because they have a large following, vote because of the good policies the party has and make sure you trust them implementing what they promise. Do not be cheated by those asking for your vote so that they can live comfortaly at your expense.
