Veteran politician and MMD founder member Princess Nakatindi Wina has advised political parties to preach peace ahead of this year’s Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

She has called on leaders of all political parties participating in the election to encourage their members to tolerate one another despite having divergent political views.

She was speaking an in interview with ZNBC News at her residence in Lusaka’s Mimosa Farm.

Princess Nakatindi who is also former Kanyama constituency MMD Member of Parliament says Zambians must remain calm and campaign peacefully to avoid bloodshed.

And Northmead Assembly of God presiding pastor Bishop Joshua Banda believes the 2011 elections in Zambia will be peaceful.

Bishop Banda says the church will continue praying for peace before and after the elections.

And The Zambia Bus and Taxi Workers Union has urged its members to avoid being used as tools of violence during the ongoing campaigns ahead of the September 20th polls.

Union President James Liambai has told bus and taxi drivers not to resist being used by politicians to cause anarchy in the country during and after the elections.

Mr. Liambai has advised bus and taxi drivers to avoid putting stickers on their vehicles because they ferry people of different political affiliations.

He says bus and taxi drivers should vote for leaders who will help them improve their lives.

  1. These drug dealers what arthey talking about these are MMD chaps. They are broke andare surviving through ERB as a chairman. Who don’t know you you get brown envelopes from state house. When pipo in mongu were killed we heard no word from you. his couple is a shame.

  2. “Union President James Liambai has told bus and taxi drivers not to resist being used by politicians to cause anarchy in the country during and after the elections” Are you sure this is what he said? Please apologise to him because others will get the smoke and not the fire.

  3. Liambai, sue this rubbish LT so that they learn to employee qualified copy typists! LT the sentence implies that Liambai is encouraging his members to be used by political parties for violence! of course this is just your misrepresentation. Nakatindi Wina and the husband are MMD stooges and they will only speak to impress their employers!

  4. Why does Mirriam Nganga call herself a princess and everyone eles follows? It’s her mother who was a Princess, by the name of Nakatindi, because she was the daughter of the King – Lewanika. Why don’t Inonge Mbikusita-Lewanika and her siblings refer to themselves are princesses or princes when their father was a king? Because these titles were abolished at Independence and the Lozi king was now just Litunga in accordance with the Barotse Agreement 1964. So that lady is Mrs Mirriam Nganga-Wina …

  5. IF YOU WERE SINCERE IN YOUR APPEAL MADAM, YOU WOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE COMMANDER OF MMD, RB TO ADVISE HIM AGAINST CONDONING VIOLENCE FROM HIS CADRES……….THE KEY TO PEACEFUL ELECTIONS LIES WITH RB AND HIS POLICE CHIEF KABONDE……….AT THE MOMENT ALL WE HEAR ARE FAKE HALF HEARTED APPEALS FOR PEACE……….PF HAS DECLARED, IT WILL DEFEND ITSELF, WITH OR WITHOUT THE POLICE……..AFTER ALL PF CADRES ARE IN MAJORITY ANYWHERE IN ZAMBIA!!!!!!!!

  6. It is amazing how we want to use titles to show how important we are ! Princess, Royal Highness, Honourable etc. Check in the Bible, people who achieved great things were simply known by their names, e.g. Moses (led the Israelites to freedom) , Peter ( wrote most of the New Testament), Mary (mother of Jesus). What have these fellows done to deserve titles?

    • No. 16 CITIZEN, You are WRONG, check your Facts properly. Peter did NOT WRITE MOST OF THE NEW TESTAMENT “(e.g. Moses (led the Israelites to freedom) , Peter ( wrote most of the New Testament), Mary (mother of Jesus)”……

  7. “Union President James Liambai has told bus and taxi drivers not to resist being used by politicians to cause anarchy in the country during and after the elections”. Does this make sense or it is just me who is uneducated under five!

  8. I have more respect for the opinion of the king and queen in my pack of cards than of these two “jokers”. In fact, even the opinion of the joker in my pack of cards rates higher than these two.

  9. #12 SPOKESPERSON – what is your issue with Princess Nakatindi? Are you jealous? On top of that you are ignorant. No traditional title was abolished at independence. Which constitution are you reading? Don’t comment on things you know nothing about. Litunga means King. Nakatindi is called princess because of her royal family tree and titles in that family tree do not necessarily follow who gave birth to who. Reading a few newspaper articles like you did is far from enough to know the Lozi royal family. With all their weakenesses, this family is well respected because of the role they played in the independence struggle and also, 27 years, in the formation of MMD. They may have dealt in drugs, but they never stole from government like the thieves you keep praising everyday.

  10. The UNIPist PF party, after Guy Scott showed you that PF is more UNIP than anybody else in both word and deed, and after you had condemned everything UNIP, what do you stand for now? Please answer me if you want my vote.

  11. No.

  12. #19 Just for interest sake, why is she the only Princess in the family? Other siblings like the late Richard Nganga was not a Prince? Sounds like a scene from a budget Nollyhood movie.!!!!This Mirriam Nganga story will never end!

  13. No. 1 Abesu and No. 3 Peter Ngosa how true! I mean they are only known for negatives- aren’t they? These self-confessed drug dealers are being glorified by a state directed TV station (ZNBC) and continue to suckle from their heydays of drug trafficking! This man Sikota (AKA Hussein) travelled in a women’s Islamic dress (abaya)! What cheek! KK Had both locked up! GW Bush would have taken them both to Guantanamo!

  14. No. 23 – The Kimbaguist! She is called Princess because she took over from her Mother as leader. I am sure you will agree with me that Chieftainess Chiawa, Mungule, Mukambambo etc have names too?? She may be Mirriam Nganga-Wina but tradition requires that she be called MUKWAE NAKATINDI WINA. (MUKWAYE meaning PRINCESS).

  15. Don’t worry Mama, Zambians are peaceful people except for a few *****s who do not want to learn from what the great oeace lover KK used to teach us. One Zambia, One Nation, Humanism and Love thy neighbour. Magananga apite kutali sitifuna ndewu mu Zambia. Zitsilu zipite kutali zikakhale na satana.
