Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) president Musa Mwenye has said that at no time did the association’s executive press him to condemn activities of Republican President Michael Sata.

An online publication has indicated that the LAZ Executive has been pressing Mr. Mwenye to condemn the numerous constitutional breaches that President Michael Sata has allegedly committed.

Mr. Mwenye said that the Law Association of Zambia will not allow to be used to fight political confrontations. Speaking to QFM in a telephone interview, Mr. Mwenye said that LAZ will continue to carry out its mandate of saving people, regardless of their political affiliation.

Mr. Mwenye noted that the association can only condemn an act on legal basis either privately or publicly.

And when asked on reports that he is expectant to be appointed Solicitor General by President Sata, Mr. Mwenye said he could not comment on the matter because he was not the appointing authority.

The LAZ president said that President Sata is the only person who can answer such questions because he is the one making the appointments.

  1. Serving people, not ‘saving’.

Interesting, so everyone is awaiting to be appointed by the president? Too much power in one pair of hands.

  2. MY DEAR IF THE PRESIDENT APPOINTS YOU JUST ACCEPT IT. BEING LAZ PRESIDO DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO ALWAYS BE IN THE PAPERS CRITICISING THE GOV. WISH YOU THE BEST AS A CITIZEN OF ZAMBIA.

  3. Magande will be the next solicitor general..I believe he studied some law when he was a deputy director in finance…he would make a good SG..this man…..

  4. Ba Mwenye surely you can’t refuse to be appointed as solicitor General, just say ‘I WOULD BE DELIGHTED IF AM APPOINTED’

  5. This LAZ president is lying to Zambians. He was in the fore front of condemning MMD before election. We know he is a PF cadre! LAZ would do well to get rid of this chap and let someone clean take over from him so that the country can benefit from this big sea of legal brains. The Panji Kaunda issue is a clear breach of constittution and he doen’t want to own up. Suprisingly even the opposition are quiet about it.

  6. #1 Logika, the Solicitor General is the main legal advisor to the government, so it is only logical for him to get appointed by none other than the head of the government, who is the president. That’s the way it is all over the world. Do you want it to change in Zambia just because President Sata is in power?

  7. @logika, your grammer is just as bad. it is wrong to say “awaiting to be appointed”. you could have said “awaiting appointments”. you await the occuring of an event. in short its wrong to use “to” immediately after “await”.

  8. Mwenye is just wanking here by trying to hoodwink us that he is not a PF cadre. That is the problem with these chaps, they are so dull – all of them. No wonder they always lose cases all the time. The few statements he has recently released were to hoodwink us that if he is appointed then he would be appointed on merit. Tell him and his appointer to f-off!! They should just continue appointing each other without insulting us thinking we are as dull as them genetically. The sooner he leaves LAZ the better. I’m sure LAZ are fed up with this blockhead.

  9. Furthermore, ‘activities of Republican President Michael Sata’ is not a good expression, because it has a negative tone to it.

  10. An Easterner was so in love with a Bemba girl. After many attempts, the girl kept saying; am still thinking about it. One day he resolved to try one last time and call it quits.

When the girl saw him, she knew what he wanted to say. She simply said: “Ba Tembo, nkumbateni! (hug me)”

When the guy heard he fumed and left to tell his friend that she now wants nkumba ten! (10 pigs)

  11. The ascendacy to power by PF and Mr Sata has changed a number of things previously taken for granted. LAZ president and its members were seen to be the guardian elite to any government in power in delivering justice in the nation. Private media was providing checks and balance together with the opposition to the govt of the day. All Post newspaper staff are on PF payroll and lost all credibility and intergrity for the sake of financial gain. LAZ members once appointed to positions in government, remove the oaths they took to uphold truthfulness and apply independent mind in execution of their jobs. Kunda, Muchenga and others swindling clients monies were a disgrace to their profession. Now we have Musa Mwenya losing direction at the mention to be next DPP. changed mind suddenly as pro PF.

  12. @Nine Chale, the main legal advisor to the govt is the Attorney General and Solicitor who is more of a deputy is the head of litigation.

  13. If we a
want all the circus to be halted then we should push a constitution that will provide authority to the institutions not individuals. Currently the president has an overload of power such that he is just short declaring who should breath clean air or dirty air. I’m looking forward to the time when a serving president can be repremanded for wrong doing as he is serving, not after wards. The President should just be like any other employee but the gods that our Constitution creates.

    • i don’t think so. He is even ignoring the existing laws therefore, no amount of laws will stop him from doing what comes straight to his mind

  14. He is now criticising ‘privately’, if Sata does not appoint him as promised he will then start cricizing ‘publicy’. Can you not see the 2 words used carefully above?

  15. Hi everybody living in Canada. What is your say about our Ambassador Never Mumba having his contract terminated by the new Administration? Pliz comment.

    • Nevers mumba is ****, everyone in Z knows that. Would you know which church he goes to whilst in canada, because his followers are lost over here.

  16. Please mwe bantu napapata. My mulamu Musa is going to taking over Prezidency from Sata, that is what it is kekekekekekek

  17. Sata is Guilty of Abusing his office. We need this put back in the laws of zambia to deter him & his minions from Abusing their offices.

  18. But why are deputy ambassodors not touched. some have been in the missions for over ten years now pliz.foreign affairs zambia when you give contracts you forget to update them. the deputies also must go

  19. Out of people that helped advance the PF’s political mileage during the elections,Dandi Krazy has’nt been rewarded with anything.Sata’s signature election tune Dont kubeba was sang by the guy who is still wallowing in abject poverty.Come on Dandy! lets have another one about the 90days promise.
