Two Coaches Ask Faz to Hire Local Trainer

Share

Happy Sichikolo and Keagan Mumba have called for a local coach to be engaged to replace Dario Bonetti.

Kabwe Warriors assistant coach Sichikolo and Konkola Blades trainer Mumba said in separate interviews that there was very little time to bring in a foreigner to prepare Chipolopolo for the 2012 Africa Cup.

“There is a complex against local coaches regarding the senior team,” Mumba said.

“It is these same local coaches who have natured these national team players from Under-17 and Under-20 so I don’t understand why some people accuse us of lacking tactical of the game.”

And Sichikolo said FAZ should consider a combination of two or three local coaches to prepare the team for the Africa Cup to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea from January 21 to February 12.

“I prefer we look at a combination of Zambian coaches to work together like Patrick Phiri, Fighton Simukonda, Lwandamina and Mr Fordson Kabole,” Sichikolo said.

“They know the players well and I strongly believe the time is too short for a foreign coach who does not know our players to prepare the team for the Africa Cup.”

Faz is scouting for a replacement for Bonetti who was fired on October 10 just after qualifying Chipolopolo to the Africa Cup tournament.

  1. i don’t trust you Zambian coaches. Its not the first time we have called on Zambian coaches to take up the job of senior team.the only trophy they have won is COSAFA and we are talking about Africa cup.please let us not try to experiment.

  2. Keegan Mumba, do not hoodwink faz by letting them believe you can deliver. You have shamelessly lamentably failed at under 20 level. What new ideas can you bring at senior level? With happy sichikolo, let him save kabwe warriors from brink of collapse for the nation to believe that he can deliver. The two are just soliciting for jobs, period.Shame on you under performing zambian coaches.

  3. Zambia is not ready for a local coach!period! maybe after 20years!Zambian coaches have taken the team there and the record is there for every one to see! pathetic record! shame on local caoches!

  4. LOCAL COACH PERIOD!!!.. and I dont care who… Thats why we changed GRZ.. Zambians need to control their own destiny whatever it is.. Sick and tired of this lack of confidence in ourselves, from the economy to football!!.. If we get knocked out in the groupm stages by such a decision, then so be it.

  5. i have always wondered if employing the best coach in the world with the current crop of players can bring us glory.looking forward to a time when our boys will b dieing a little for mother zambian.lets try my cousin Ras Rated #2 for national team coach.

  6. Mumba and his friend have a point. Looking for a foreign coach now is too late for Chipolopolo. If FAZ can wipe away their complex against their own skin and engage a Zambian Coach to lead the team. Samuel Zoom Ndlovu did wonders, and he was a local. C’mon guys. How many foreign coaches have brought an african trophy home? If non, then why should we make a fuss over obtaining a local coach who can even do much better than Bonetti who was raking millions for nothing. Lets wake up guys. We are too dosile with serious inferiority complex.

  7. It is a bit too late to engage a foreign coach and even if we managed to get one, I do not expect much from the current crop of players. There is an endemic problem with our football which has not been addressed for a long time. For example, how many Zambian players do we see plying their trade at the big clubs in  Europe. Very few if any.

  8. Even great footballing nations engange coaches from other countries if they have the capacity to make their team to win a trophy,, if zambians are capable then take them but to the look of things some local coaches are not

  9. NO LOCAL COACHES. Period! Even England with so many good coaches now and before have relied on foreign coaches. And here we are, wanting to hire a local coach simply because one is Zambian. Atase!

Facts are facts, these European coaches are tactically way, way superior than our Fightons and Patricks.

  10. By now we should be discussing a short list of names being considered. Work like Sata you guys, fire today and replace the same day. Action pls, otherwise we will end up with Kalusha coaching the team.

  11. The closest ‘local’ coach we can even think of hiring is former Egyptian strongman Hassan Shehata. He is probably the best African coach around. One thing is for sure with him. He gonna take no shit from any lazo and indisciplined players, of which there are many in the Zambian camp simply because they play in the SA league.

  12. Ala nabolafye pa Z tuleshako.ifitulechinja-chinja nganiba ama coach SOUTH AFRICA teti bese nabengishako na goal ku afriaca cup.go zambia,go chipolopolo boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

  13. I 100% agree with them, these white coaches just come to make a quick buck and off they are gone, THEY ARE NOT MAGICIANS for crying out loud.. How many foreign coaches have we had since we started competing on the international stage? too many to mention but we still havent won ACN or gone to world cup, so whats the point? I hope President Sata will bring sanity to our football and stop the rot for once. LOCAL IS BETTER.

  14. These local coaches we are crying for, how many of them has ever taken their clubs to the second round of CAF? No local coach has ever impressed on the African continent just to qualify for CAF. Guys if we need glory let us risk and empty our pocket in search for someone who knows the GAME and can coach well. Knowing the players in soccer is really not the winning thing, yes it does count. But if you ask me, we need someone who knows the staff.

  15. It should not be about local, but about the best candidate! If you are local and not better than the other applicants please forget. Try somewhere else. No localism, no regionism. We want someone who can deliver like Buselic-period! Phiri has been there before and failed. Why do we forget so fast? Local coaches we know you are just campaigning for yourselves but work situation does not operate like that, its for the best.

  16. No more this local coach nonsense. We have had it.wen will we ever learn? take a leaf from what happened to Nigeria. They will not be going to CAN 2012 despite having quality players coz the local coach Samson Siasia failed to deliver. Even the US and Rep. of Ireland, England, Turkey have realized that their countries need foreign expertize to have an impact on the world stage. whats so special about Zed with our ill-trained coaches(apart from Kalu).

  17. Hello, Neat post. There is a problem along with your website in web explorer, may test this? IE still is the marketplace leader and a good part of other folks will omit your great writing because of this problem.
