Politicians wanting to sabotage the PF Government programmes will not succeed-Scott

File: Dr.Guy Scott in Malawi

VICE-PRESIDENT Guy Scott says politicians wanting to sabotage the PF Government programmes will find the mission difficult because Zambians are eager to support Government so that it can deliver on its promises.

Speaking on Radio Phoenix’s Government and You yesterday, Dr Scott said while it is a characteristic of the opposition to oppose Government, retrogressive opposition will not yield fruit as Zambians are determined to see the benefits of the change they so wanted.

Dr Scott was commenting on the attacks the United Party for National Development (UPND) has launched against the PF Government. He said the PF Government will report to Zambians any opposition party standing in its way to improve their welfare.

Dr Scott said UPND president Hakainde Hichilema is not a good politician and that his understanding of business cannot easily be transferred to politics. “HH is my friend but he’s a bit like a rugby player who thinks because he understands the rugby ball, he can play football. He thinks because he understands the politics of business, he understands politics,” he said.

Dr Scott said the PF Government is determined to improve the welfare of Zambians and that it has already started working with results showing. He cited the reduction in fuel prices as part of the results and that prices of meal-meal will soon come down for the benefit of Zambians.

Dr Scott said Government will provide a conducive environment for meaningful socio-economic development by putting in a place an appropriate tax system and addressing high borrowing interest rates.

He said there is need for improved monitoring of tax payment to ensure huge sums of money meant for socio-economic development are not lost through tax evasion. Dr Scott said Africa loses more money through tax evasion than the aid it gets.

He said Government will reduce the taxes Zambians pay by making sure everybody pays the right taxes. “If you can get everybody paying tax, then you can get people paying reasonable taxes. We have to make sure the big boys pay their share,” Dr Scott said.

He said the Government will fight corruption because it leads to poverty.

On the new constitution, Dr Scott said Government will work with the information different constitutional commissions gathered to produce the Constitution according to its promise.

  1. “He cited the reduction in fuel prices as part of the results and that prices of meal-meal will soon come down for the benefit of Zambians.”
Mr Scott, a paltry reduction of K400? Then RB did better by reducing the pump price by K1700.

  2. Ba VP you talking about results already showing??????? Fuel prices reduce by K400 and you call that development????? dude give us a break, and the majority of zambians dont even own cars to enjoy the reduction. We are getting fade up of this anti-corruption song you and the snake are singing everyday. And BTW corruption exists in each and every country on this planet and you think you can wipe it out completely? only in your dreams ka. so please get real and start addressing areas that need to be addressed like improving medical care, schools, reduce mealie meal prices and try some job creation. And the oppostion doesnt want to sabotage ur govt, they monitor that you do the right things for everyone… just PF was opposing when they were opposition. so stop acting like you still opposition

  3. Ba PF stop being paranoid and roll up your sleeves for real work.
The 90 days is due 2 days before Xmas and people want more money in their pockets.
HH does not control GRZ purse and so he can not derail your programmes unless you intended to make bad laws and shortcuts in parliament.
Checks and balances are required from the opposition considering all print media are now your Vuvuzelas.

  4. AND WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON HARASSMENT AND ILLEGAL SEARCHES OF OLD LADIES RELATED TO OPPOSITION MP’S??? IS THAT PF POLICY???
AT THE END OF 90 DAYS IT WILL BE UPON EVERY ZAMBIAN TO MAKE SURE THEIR DREAMS ARE REALISED AND THEIR PROMISES ARE MET!!!
THE ONLY DECISION TO BE MADE AT END OF 90DAYS IS OCCUPY HIGH COURT, OCCUPY NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OR OCCUPY STATE HOUSE?
REMEMBER OCCUPY IS SIMPLY A PEACEFUL OCCUPATION OF A SPACE WITH MULTITUDES OF PEOPLE CARRYING PLACARDS DISPLAYING THEIR NEEDS AND GRIEVANCES WHILST SINGING SOMBER SONGS

  5. you talk like you are more zambian than some of the zambian politicians.. criticisms are a reminder so that those pig scandals dont repeat during your teniure…

  6. Tired of this fear of HH by the PF. Exactly the way Mwanawasa and RB were of Sata. May be a good indication of what he is made of.

  7. I just love the LT tittle,
“Politicians wanting to sabotage the PF Government programmes WILL-Scott”.
Just cut the sentence in half – simple and very eye-catching!

-K400/liter reduction is alot alot of money in people’s pockets, u save K8,000 with every 20L purchase. Thanks for this effort Mr Sata! In US (serious people), even a 10 cent/galon (3L) reduction in fuel is alot of saving!

  8. Who will sabotage your programmes ba VP? Do not forget that a few days a go when you were in opposition you walked out of parliament on the constitution issue. You guys are too SELFISH. It was good for you to walk out and frustrate MMD and now not even one has done that to you and you are already complaining. What are you scared of? Get down to work MAN! We need money in our pockets!

  9. well spoken mr. vp go on, work and shame these jealous guys.

yes you can. do not be distracted. keep focused and you will achieve your goals. good luck.

  10. Now I start to understand Politics, LT & Zambia Daily mail never wrote anything about the exciting football-player Guy Scott. They always wrote about Dora Siliya, where is she anyway these days? Ine uluse mwe..

  11. Mr. VP, dont waste your energy on HH who is just doing what he is supposed to do .There is so much fear of HH in your camp that you are all talking about him. Thanks for helping him getting even more to be known by every serious Zambia. This guy seems to have something great that you are afraid of. People open your eyes. It was kambwili, now Scot- same person.

Just do the work and stop making promises we have had enough already

  12. He may carry an over weight wallet in his jacket, but its clear that VP Scott has a head over his shoulders, i.e. making guarded attacks at HH. But still, his attacks open a new debate to any mature mind. Is he implying that prowess in economics has little to do with job creation? That its predominantly bare street politics that create jobs? Or has he just borrowed the street language to blend in with cadres?

  13. HH blind followers AKA tonga people’s tribal  party please stop fooling yourselves
that the govt is afraid of under5, he really has no bearing on zambians whatsoever just a few of you tongas can,t admit the herd boy will never be Zambia president.. Never ever not in this life time
Give him the tonga chiefs title and give him choma plot 1, State house ?? In your mother F.ucking ngombe dreams

  14. #14 Tonga fimofimo just listen to yourself, your language is so unwise, get a life mate and sound happy hatred has long disappeared in the modern Zambia . Shame you sound so so old not even KK ‘s age mate.

    • Trust me mate your tonga under5 will never ever come into state house try as you might it will never ever happen matey … Try put your under5 in ngombe compound

  15. We like it or not The PF rules beyond 90 days.5 years te patali sana but for the bereaved ones, those that feel hurt for the loss 5 years is like a century and they will continue complaining.OOOOPs.Pabwato.Nomba kubebela pofye

  16. Someone grows the maize, you kick his ass and spit into his face, and then pride yourself in reducing the price of mealie meal, eish politics in Zambia!

  17. 90 days does not mean counting from 1 up to 90. it is a symbolic language to mean in a shortest period of time. keep on counting if you donot know the meaning of 90 days. Go pf go pf. dont mind about these parties with no future.

  18. PF would have done well to explain what they really meant by 90 days development when they were campaigning. They would have done everyone a favour by articulating what they meant, rather than wanting to do the explaining now when they are in government. They promised the people so much in 90 days, and people are so expectant they want nothing less than the promised 90 day economic liberation. And to make matters worse, HH and company seem to be a thorn in the political flesh of PF. It’s called checks and balances man!

  19. I thought George Kunda was the worst Vice -President ——— if the statements being attributed Guy Scott since PF has beein in office are anything to go by, I think Guy Scott could be the worst. How can Guy Scott reffer to criticism as derailment? Does he want the opposition to remain mute on all the mistakes that PF has made since taking office? And Scott says HH is smart in busness guy who cant make it in politics! Its seems Guy Scott understands politics from PF perspective of making false promise, addressing rallies and making jokes. Politics is about job creation, providing housing, infrastrure development, creating environment for business growth. And politicians who understand business are better placed to deliver on these aspects than career politicians.

  20. What is this white-monkey-in-the-maize field on about?  Haven’t the kaponyas been crowing about how they are in power now?  So, if you are ruling how come you are afraid of some insignificant opposition screwing your programs?  Is it bcos you have just realised that you are truly a minority govt and nobody gives a white monkey’s for your 90 day rhetoric?  Get a life and start behaving like you running a govt and no in opposition still.  Sata Nyoko and his Gay Scotsman will ruin Kaponyaland forever!!

  21. no. 12 YOU are a fool . HH is a hijacker , for sure MMD need to get organised . No wonder ka HH is saying that the kolishon govrt clause shud be included in the constitution reason is simple HH cant stand on his own. I can assure the nation God is not a fool and will prevail over the intetions of HH ( PERSONAL INTERESTS ) .will not excel the party : the down fall of HH / RB is now . Give aza pipo to lead MMD AND UPND . VIVA chipimo and Mutesa

  22. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I believed this post used to be good. I do not know who you’re however certainly you are going to a well-known blogger if you happen to aren’t already. Cheers!
