Police are investigating reports that a former Minister in the MMD government caused the death of a man by dangerous driving and paid his family ten million Kwacha to avoid prosecution.
Central Province Commissioner of police Solomon Jere has revealed that police are investigating former Health Deputy Minister, Solomon Musonda.
Dr. Musonda caused the death of a man in Serenje by dangerous driving and failed to report the matter to police.
Dr. Jere has told ZNBC new that investigations in the matter have reached an advanced stage.
He says the incidence happened on the same day that Dr. Musonda allegedly shot a PF cadre in Serenje district.
Dr. Jere says police officers are currently investigating the matter and Dr. Musonda is expected to be slapped with fresh charges.

Too bad for Dr Musonda now you are on the other side of the law. People we need to learn to treat each other fairly. If this was the case Musonda would have by now sorted this case out through the courts of law.By end of 90days there will be no MMD.

Solomon is one of the most brilliant and brave men that Zambia has ever produced (reminds me of late Cletus Chanda). From the time he was an excellent student at Serenje Boys Tech Sch to UNZA-he was a rare kind. Yes, he was wrong in his actions. However, given the circumstances and pressure, how could he have acted differently? We have seen campigns go viral. Pull thru Muzo!

Killing a person accidentally in a road Traffic accident is one thing. You then do the right thing, present yourself to authorities; If the family asks for compensation & nothing else, well & good! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT AFTERALL! HOWEVER, same scenario, you however proceed to conceal the fact by buying off witnesses/family etc, THIS AGGRAVATES THE SITUATION & BECOMES A CRIME!!!! If anything this is an indictment on the police service and their luck of professionalism. There was a death which by all accounts should have been reported to the authorities seeing as it was not caused by natural causes. How on earth does the police together with the health authorities fail to investigate such a death even if the family were paid. Any excuse to point fingers at MMD leadership influencing the Police will not do. Who and when did that interference take place. It appears to me to be the same old thing of the police and other authorities failing to apply justice to the incumbent administration and then showing their teeth when it suits the witch hunter whoever that may be as long as they are in office. Not that I have any sympathy for this man and wish he was indicted sooner
