Kalusha Bwalya says Sports Minister Fackson Shamenda is being misled by people around him with different agendas.

The Faz president told BBC Africa Sport that Shamenda has not been properly briefed over the sacking of Dario Bonetti and return of Herve Renard as the Italian’s replacement.

“The minister knows that the hiring of Herve Renard was a decision of the executive committee and the process was thorough,” Bwalya told the BBC.

“It appears though that the right kind of information hasn’t reached him.

“If the minister has an issue with the football association in future, he should talk to us directly so that we resolve things amicably.

“I haven’t received any notification from the minister regarding the report he tabled in parliament, but we have a lot of well-wishers in Zambia.

“Everybody in Zambia knows where the problem is; there are people around the minister who give him the wrong information to push their own agendas.

“I have no doubts that we’re doing is in the best interest of Zambian football, and I’ll continue to serve football to the best of my ability.”

Shamenda has over the last fortnight and in Parliament on Tuesday repeated that Government was concerned with Bonetti’s firing and subsequent hiring of Renard.

He said Government will not pay Renard’s salary and also told Faz to shape-up its operations at Football House before Zambia goes to the Africa Cup.

  1. Ba kalusha we know you have the dollars. But please be respectful,if what we are reading is exactly what you said, then you do not qualify to run FAZ.Do you honestly expect the minister to initiate the dialogue with you on matters you are fully aware he needs the input/updates directly from you?if you are too busy to interact with government officials PS (sports) included please find a new nationality and relocate where you think you will be idolised without delivering the services but live on past glory, recruit coach dubiously, sell players dubiously, select national team players through kickbacks and the cherry you carry is DISREPECT.

  2. Galu at it again. So who is going to understand him?He claimed Chipungu former Minister of Sport (MMD) did not understand now its the new minister in a new govt who doesn’t understand him. What kind of nonsense is this?Galu is fuc!n arrogant.

  3. Kalu is the best footballer and administrator this poor and corrupt country called zambia has ever produced. Infact i was expecting the Cobra to appoint him sports minister, lets wait maybe after first reshufles coming in 90 dyas.

  4. If government wont Pay renard salary who is gona pay him? May kalu should disclose the source of renard salary if government wont be paying him.

  5. I want to agree with Great Kalu. To some extent Kalu is right. This government officials of ours, they just comment on things without any full knowledge about the thing. It seems their mounts can’t close and leaks a lot. B4 taking the issue to Parliament consult the rightful people. Kalu also should come out and share the rightful information to the minister instead of him going to BBC. Now this will be war between kalu and the minister. kalu will be commenting to the whole football world what he knows and the minister will be to commenting in the house. i wander who is going to win.

    • Thats very good for you considering the fact that psychotic medicines don’t seem to help your insomnia disorder

  6. TO ALL SOCCER LOVERS….RENARD IS THE BEST COACH TO TAKE US TO AFRICA CUP
2012….AT LEAST WE HAVE UP COMING STRIKERS KANGWA/KAMPAMBA …WE ARE CERTAINLY BRINGING THE CUP HOME….GREAT GREAT KALU IS STILL GREAT…THERE ARE JUST A FEW DISGRUNTLED INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE MIS INFORMING THE MINISTER…
MIND YOU FAZ UNDER FIFA IS DETACHED FROM POLITICS…..GO KALU GO KALU SHAME THEM…..WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE/////

  7. This big headed boy who has never won a trophy is silly. He gets money from the government and whenever the government wants results from him, he runs to FIFA and cries interference. The only cups we have won as a country are Cosafa and we have ‘heroes’ with such a bad record. For as long as we have Galu in there, forget any trophies because his interest are not the country but himself.

  8. Right on kci! I thought the minister said FAZ should work with the National Sports Council and the ministry has to have a say if it had to pay the national coach. The minister did not say anything about the actual recruitment process of Renard and Kalu wants the whole minister to be consulting directly with FAZ sidelining his own NSC!

  9. ALL THESE BLOGGERS YAPPING LIKE MATUVI CAN NOT EVEN DO HALF OF WHAT YOU DID FOR ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I think kalusha and Teddy Milo ga (sports ps) have personal issues which are now affecting the nation!!! The ministers have changed but the ps remains the same!!! Maybe the ps should be changed and then observe what kind of briefs the ministers will get on faz. All was well at faz until mulonga became ps and started getting back at bwalya for defeating him as faz president… People open your eyes!!!

  11. What Great Kalu is fellow bloggers is that before the minister Shamenda presented his statement in parliament he was supposed to get the facts on the firing and hiring of DB and HR respectively. The has got the powers and right to summon FAZ executive to get to the Facts. There is no way you can go to Parliament and start denouncing the people that report under you without getting knowing really bad things they have done.Any way that is the way things are ran in Zambia its always drama.

  12. #12 BUBBLE MALITOLI – educate us bwana on what it is that Kalusha ever did for Zambian football! Which respectful cup did we ever win with him??? Infact Zambia started winning tonaments AFTER he left the team!! He went to Mexico to coach a shanty compound team as a developmental project for youths – you know what, he was fired for incompetence! He then ran back to sleepy Zambia where you praise him for nothing. In his last attempt at playing here in Zambia was when he was Team Manager and got in only to make us lose and as a result that was Zambia’s worst qualifying performance and he left as team manager. Now unless he is your brother, learn to keep quiet. Maybe your name is Bubble Matole – because my cousin Malitoli would not enjoy seeing his name being abused by monkeys like YOU!!

  13. continue fighting kalu and you will be shock kamanga tried it and his team was relegated.RB tried it and he lost the elections.Kalu is correct Dario was not fired he was redeployed to the U-23 and then he refused meaning he terminated his contract.there is nothing to pay that chap.as with Renard two year ago we insulted this man calling him a physical trainer only kalu had faith in him the he took the national team to the quarter finals.now he has come back and the team looks good.why are zambians like this.I have a good feeling about this afroca cup.

  14. Kalu where are you? Why issue a statement to BBC? I expected you to make a date with the Minister so that you resolve certain issues. But because of your arrogance you rush kuli ba BBC. *****t.

  15. Long live Great Kalu! bambuli abalanda landa without any achievements baleke! infact thats why we dont know them country wide and world over pantu ba fake! ba kembo mulekeni Kalu atase!

  16. Sata attacks Kalusha over FAZ dispute
    TIME PUBLISHED – Sunday, November 7, 2010, 10:22 pm
Patriotic Front President Michael Sata has charged that the dispute surrounding the legality of the Football Association of Zambia FAZ executive will only be resolved if President Kalusha Bwalya accepts that he is not an expert in football administration.

Sata said with the current situation surrounding the country’s football governing body, it will be hard for the country to produce a strong national football team ahead of the 2012 Africa cup of nations.

  17. This Kalu answer back at the Sports Minister through the press iz a clear indication of the enormous problem we have at Football House. One would have expected the FAZ boss to seek an audience withe Minister then issue a comprehensive statement. But for Kalu to “dare” Mr Shamenda to “… if he haz any issuez in future talk to us directly…” doezn’t just add up.

  18. Number 25. that minister with dirty beards is no match for kalu he started the fire kalu was in office before that nominated unioinist was put as minister.let him stick to the strikes and let kalu run the game.

  19. Great Kalu is Great Kalu. Great Kulu still remain great in the Globla Football, the FIFA Respect Kalu bse is Great. YOU FOOL AND DOGS LEAVE KALU ALONE. MIGHTY MUFULIRA WANDERERS, WE KEEP ON PRAYING FOR YOU.

  20. I am feed up with some of the childsh and emotional statements people pass on this blog. It is immature to raise comments from personal prejudices and biases. Let tackle points with points than shifting arguments on persons. Let us listen to what they say; if they are reanable we commend them and if they lack reason we critises to put reason in them. Otherwise it is better you dont comment. The point of kalusha is reasonable the minister was not supposed to realise such statements before he had sufficient information on the matter.

  21. You little jealous nincompoops like Kawi should think before you s.hit. Great Kalu has spoken sense. The minister has been issuing statement after nonsensical statement on FAZ yet he has never engaged them on these issues.
If your PS is known as an arch enemy of the man he is talking about you should take what he says with a pinch of salt. Kalu spoke to the BBC because unlike your snoozing local journalists they took the initiative to follow up on the story.
As for the I.diots asking what Kalu won did any sport apart from Matete’s win anything during Kalu’s time? Expect what a nation works and prepares for. Stop dreaming!

  22. all affiliates of nscz should by now written to the minister in charge of sport through the sports council on the situation in their organisations, it is this brief for the minister which the minister tablles in parliament. the initiative starts with the sporting association themselves. if faz expects the minister to go them then they are mistaken. faz should table analysis their position and inform the minister accordingly. faz should be proactive!

  23. #29 DREEAMZ – you are like Kalusha. Big-headed and daft. You can’t even spell your name. We are tired of biug-headed people who just know how to eat without producing results. Last year even the current President Michael Sata condemned Kalusha for incompetence – and yet he was still in oposition at the time. If you want him set up your own personal team and hire him. He is going now that we have a serious minister in place. FAZ cannot be a country within a country – everybody follows the law. Kalusha is the most celebrated cretin I have ever known in Zambia. we have had greats who have put Zambia on the map like Lottie Mwale, Samuel Matete etc. Right now Esther Phiri has brought more glory to Zambia than Kalusha. Get your crappie Kalusha and go home with him. He stinks…

  24. Kalusha Bwalya 1988 African Footballer of the Year! (Shamenda 1900 African Isolo players of the Year). A minister with no idea about football ganging up with usual stone throwers, hate mongers and Pull Him Down (PHD) syndrome rampant in our country. Shame.

  25. He is being mislead by people with different agendas? where are you with the right information? globe trotting from zed to zurich via joburg? who is supposed to follow who between you and the sports minister? u cant just hire a person without the ministrys approval or consultation then you drop a bill at their door step ati pay. this is pomposity

  26. Gokigo or whatever nonsense you call yourself, it is you who cant spell. You cant even spell an easy word such as “big”. And you cant spell my name. Ubupuba!  Your daftness is there for all to see. Do you know boxing? As a former boxer myself I will inform you that the titles that Esther Phiri has won are not recognised ones. Notable Global boxing bodies are only three namely WBA WBC IBF. Others are briefcase world bodies whose owners want to make some money out of blind followers like you. Lottie Mwale never won any World title. You will stress yourself to death envying Great Kalu and wishing him all the evil you have stated but he will be enjoying himself as FAZ president. Just like your friends last year stressed themselves over Kalu’s removal and he is still there.

  27. FAZ is not a subsidiary of the Sports Ministry.  FAZ is not a civil Service dept that should bow before a minister. The govt funds FAZ because its a way of emotionally  Connecting to the large. Constituency football commands. The Govt  is not oblged to fund FAZ. Nor shoulld FAZ demand funds from govt. However if the govt were to  forsake FAZ its them who would suffer not FAZ.

  28. Kalusha bwalya needs to step aside for the good of zambian football. All Zambian football needs is someone who has the interest of moving it forward. Kalusha is never at home he is always on the move and when does he ever get time to run FAZ. He is busy amassing wealth by hook or by crook. His pomposity has now sky rocketed due to the wealth he amassed over the time through dubious means and his closeness to me(sepp blatter) because he knows that he can count on me when he gets into trouble.
We do appreciate what Kalusha did to zambian football when he was a player, but what he needs to understand is he is not a good manager and to preserve the dignity he is left with he needs to step aside and continue his global trotting.
We need a FAZ leader who will spend much of the time at FAZ.

  29. Sepp blatter ulichikopa sana iwe!! If the great steps down who will then run football in Zambia? ba wiso naba noko? kachikala kabiye mukunwa utujilijili

  30. Namba 40 waba itole. Think outside the box, faz has always been there, even before Kalusha bwalya came on the scene. The man is not up to the job cant you see that. Wake up!! TMF.
