The National Movement for Progress says it is too early for it to criticize the realignment of districts by the Patriotic Front government.
NMP leader Ng’andu Magande says the party is still studying the decision by the government to realign districts in southern provinces.
Mr. Magande explains that his party will only be able to give a position once it has studied the decentralization position of the Patriotic Front government.
He has however stated that there is nothing wrong with some groupings, particularly the United Party for National development protesting against the decision the Government to realign districts.
He says it is provided for in the Zambian constitution for any member of society to protest, as long as it is done within the confines of the law.
Mr. Magande was speaking to QFM news in an interview.
And Southern Province minister, Miles Sampa says the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) lied to the nation when they said 19 chiefs in the province have opposed the re-alignment of Chirundu and Itezhi-Tezhi districts by President Michael Sata.
Mr Sampa has also disclosed that some chiefs in the province are bitter with UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema for ditching the pact with the Patriotic Front without consulting them.
Mr Sampa said Chief Mwanachingwala of Mazabuka district who was quoted as having attended the meeting in Choma has disassociated himself from the meeting.
He said chief Mwanachingwala has been unwell and has note moved out of the palace except when seeking medical attention in Lusaka.
Mr Sampa who has challenged the UPND to tell the nation why they elected to mislead the nation by presenting ghost names of chiefs who did not attend their politically motivated meeting said the statement attributed to the UPND has just exposed amount of hate for the PF government by UPND.
He said southern province has a total of 41 chiefs adding that a small fraction of chiefs who attended the Choma meeting which he doubted cannot speak for the rest of the chiefs that are in support of President Sata’s decision to re-align the districts.
Mr Sampa urged the UPND to stop using chiefs to challenge government on matters aimed at streamlining government operations.
And Chief Mwanachingwala’s sons, Mpimpa and Richard have advised the opposition UPND to respect the chief and avoid putting words into his mouth for their political gains.
Mpimpa urged the UPND to apologise to the chief and the royal family for putting his name into disrepute.
He said the family received the news about the ailing chief attending a meeting in Choma as a shock because the traditional ruler has never moved from the palace to attend to any meeting except going to the hospital for medical attention.
They said the issue of the President re-aligning the districts should be left to his government and not chief Mwanachingwala.
And Mr Sampa has disclosed that some chiefs in the province are bitter with UPND leader, Hakainde Hichilema for ditching the pact with the Patriotic Front without consulting them.
He said chiefs told him that they are still bitter with Mr Hakainde’s conduct during the run up to the elections as this was going to be an opportunity for the people of the province to take an active part in the running of government.
Mr Sampa who was speaking when made a stop over in Mazabuka said chiefs complained to him that Mr Hakainde pulled out single handedly from the pact without consulting them while in Lusaka leaving them in a quandary.
QFM
Terrorist HH
HH has all the money in the World but has no monopoly of wisdom as can be attested to by innuendos he is now trying to find himself into. Selfish under five. That’s why Sata left u out to Gabon for the Crucial Chipolopolo finals, instead opted for Banda. Wanya u ichongezwe.
HH slowly losing out support in his so called stronghold area. go on  Sampa and finish the under 5. just keep in touch with those chiefs so that they know you have nothing against the south and that we need the south just like any other province to move this country. No politics of tribalism in Zambia. Next Mr Sata, send a lozi Minister in Northern or Muchinga province, whether people there like him or not.We should learn to work with anyone irrespective of the tribe.
Ba Miles, the government need not respond to everything from Up and Down; best you can do is work; knuckle down. We all know you are the leaders; so chill and work harder. Leave HH alone; one day he will recover from the loss. For now chill.
but why realigh now what is the interest
Budalu nabo, this will help these new districts to be developed because the govt will budget for each new district. ie you will see roads being tarmarked, new district hosiptals and so on.. Becarefull with this Full HH.
Chaps are still talking about the defunct pact??? Why being nostalgic? Borrrriiiinnnngggg.Â
JOB SEEKING CHALESI MALAMBO MWANACHINGWALA HA ALWAS BEEN LIKE THAT.
oNLY A FOOL WHO DOES NOT KNOW HIS ROOTS WILL ACCEPT TO AUCTION HIS UDENTITY TO MUCHINGA SCAVENGERS. viva HH.
mr president, with due respect, whats so special with this ITT & chirundu move? if the move was for the best interest to the southeners, why this resistance we are seeing from hh and his chiefs? mr president, you have made your intentions of developing zambia lound and clear and its only those who do not want to see you succeed that are opposing your moves. give them back what they want and move on. forget about developing their towns cos you now have a reason not to. period.
If it is not tribalism, it is regionalism, if it is not regionalism, it is religion, if it is not religion, it is nationalism – and the list goes on and on… It appears man will always find something to create squabbles over….
sorry @7 the comment is surposed to come here. mr president, with due respect, whats so special with this ITT & chirundu move? if the move was for the best interest to the southerners, why this resistance we are seeing from hh and his chiefs? mr president, you have made your intentions of developing zambia lound and clear and its only those who do not want to see you succeed that are opposing your moves. give them back what they want and move on. forget about developing their towns cos you now have a reason not to. period.
I guess only people who are not smart can believe that the movement of the two districts in Southern Province is in the interest of the locals.
We can only speculate that the more Mr. Magande opens his mouth, the more he exposes his limitations in the field of politics. He sounds like singing the song of the job seekers to please the PF regime. Talking from the confort of his mansion entails that he is completely out of touch with the situation on the ground in his original home area. The Chiefs of Southern Province mean well. After all, Sata to whom Magande is extending his begging bowl never had the courtesy to consult the principal stakeholders in the Southern Province – The Royal Highnesses THE CHIEFS. Resorting to Presidentlal Decrees entails that he has no regard to his members of the Cabinet. Therefore, Magande lives in the” Fools-paradise”.
the contitution allows Mr. SATA to make this decision without anyones consultation period
Kilometres Sampa is playing a divide and rule game and how he MISSES HH from the pact! How can he be talking about the pact even at this hou?
Chiefs of s/p should remain united and strongly oppose the move to realign the districts. Kilometre sampa was sent there to create division, so watchout!
Magande ileya ilemunyokola panono-panono te?
Magande is avoiding critising Sata least he is implicated in the Sale of ZANACO.

VIVA HH,sampa is just shit!
Do you have to impose development on people?Let sata lead by example by taking a district from bembaland to either eastern or central province.
Sorry but this is boring. bane who is in power sure? Is it HH or the PF? Why do you concentrate so much on what HH is doing? Why cannt you just concentrate on your work to develop the country instead of HH. Mr. Sampa I think you should focus on developmental issues in SP than this nonsense of who left the pact or why
Some people are failures in life. You cannot win a political party with your riches. HH is just like Trump in the USA. That guy should just stand as an independent rather than frustrate the UNDP. There are many politically capable people in the UNDP than HH. If you don’t get rid of him, the UNDP is going to die. If his own people don’t trust him, how do you expect other regions to give him a vote?
We all know Mwanachingwala is a damn sell out, with chiefs like these, who needs enermies after all. Sata too should stop issuing contradictory statements. In one breath he is condemning HH for rallying the chiefs to reject the Itezhi-tezhi/Chirundu move and in the very next one condemning him for not so called consulting them on the UPND departure from the Pact? Bututu u tuhela Sampa. B the way, what is killing the chief?
Mubwa haujata ju mucula Mwanachingwala. Mwami yu ngu suntwe pa! Bantu boonse bayande kumubona ku kazimina.
Magande does not even know the difference between himself and his shadow, what can he tell anyone? Sampa and his stooge Chief Mwanachingwala, comments reserved for now…
You can’t fool southerners and westerners. They know poverty and will never sell their souls for expediency.
first thing is lets not forget that the people of siavonga and gwembe have suffered enough. first it was the colonialists who grabbed the valley land from the people to build the kariba dam, bloodshed and lives where lost. the scars are still there for people to see even now. to today they still live in the dark yet there land produces hydro power for us living mumalaiti. now, if PF is introducing decentralisation, how will the s.province benefit from this? depend on farming alone? s.province should benefit from there resources, what ever spills over should go to other provinces.
Let the gift stop playing politics. We have food right up now left by the previous regime. We are yet to see what PF will produce. From the look of things, there is nothing but chaos under the leadership of Shikulu Sata.
Which other chiefs were not there – only one foolish one?
Oh please!Does PF miss the defunct Pact, this is a joke to mourn about the Pact today. Its good that thing actually that it did not mature, otherwise there was going to be chaos…………as for Magande,am sure he really misses his former position, you mean upto today he is still studying that pronouncement? Thats why he signed the Zanaco sale without reading the contents because he is too lazy to study.
Sampa ubufi. The southern province chiefs supported leaving the pact because of the way Sata and kabimba were treating the UPND. They had come up with even a shadow cabinet which excluded UPND members. Then what was the point of remaining in the pact? Ubufi you think we have short memories or were born yesterday?
Miles whether Mwanachigwala agrees to your useless alignment, the people would vehemently reject it. Mwanachigwala was almost killed by his own people of kabanje Village when he sold off the land to Zanbia Sugar without consulting, ask Gladys Nyirongo was minister at the time.
Let the whole opposition sing…….” Waona manje wayambakulila PF ngwele!”
one of the finest tonga-man who think with his brains!
kwa bulozi kwimbo kuli banana.barotseland will never be tourched.someone will walk naked in broad day light, then they will realise the might of barotseland.barotseland national anthem and incatations:Bulozi lifasi la bo ndata luna, hala mafasi lelinde kilona, kimo luhulezi ki mo lupepezwi mi lwa lilata.
re alignmentment is old KKs folktale to sata.KK dribbled the winas and the litunga in the same way, barotseland lost out finally such that its un believable to imagine its original bounderies.Barotseland lost on its revenues.KK must know that those are old tricks and he will never be forgiven.in hell, he will fight with nalumino mundia.
Go to hell Sampa with your corrupt chief Mwanachingwala.Which sane chief wold support such a foolish move?Even Hero himself has not endorsed but has simply denied being present.Be careful Miles this issue has the potential to explode in your faces!!!
Fred Mmembe chamukalipa ili bad zoona SP!! We dont give a F*******ck man! Go to hell with your Post ka Fred..Ka fred claims to be intelligent when he is very dull! Tell your Serpent to stop antogonising us in SP.You can be ruling but you cant take away what belongs to us (SP).Let the war broke am gona come to defend my brothers and sisters and you can not win.it will be a loose loose situ
Realignment of districts is irrelevant, a waste of our time and should be resistated! PF Govt should just focus on creating jobs for the youth, no tactics to divert attention from job creation will be accepted!
Is Magande looking for a job?
