Ban Ki-Moon Salutes Zambia’s AFCON Win

Share

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has saluted Zambia’s 2012 Africa Cup victory.

Ban said on Friday afternoon when he addressed a special session of parliament in Lusaka that Zambia’s win over Cote d’Ivoire in Libreville on February 12 was written in the sky.

“Congratulations to Chipolopolo. What a victory. Africa and the World saw that the success was more than a football team. “We saw the spirit of Zambia,” Ban said.

“For all those who believe in miracles, all those who look for unsung heroes or honor those who came before, we know that Zambia’s victory was indeed written in the sky.”

  1. Thanks Mr. General Secretary, but we need now from Europe is more coverage from the media about our victory than concentrating on Ivory Coast’s loss!

    • good point, imagine people talk so much about ivory coast’s loss than Zambia’s win. i find this so upsetting you now…

      thanks

  2. Africa and Zambia in particular MUST Demand Ban Moon on the power of VOTE FOR AFRICA in the Security council….Africa is a vast continent that deserves the VOTE power. But why these double standards by UN. On Human rights, let moon explain the double standards on why NATO is quick on Libya not Syria, Sudan or economic intervention in Greece….if he has failed Africa in so many human rights violations and Sovereignity of states, what sense is he coming for to Zambia? Is it the Gay rights? Moon is a puppet of USA and Europe, let him prove otherwise …..NO HUMAN RIGHTS WITHOUT ,African security council VOTE, SECURITY VETO a MUST,!

  3. mr secretaary general ! zambia needs help on major projects like mineral benefits, agric assistance even more private participation in grain marketing financially and finally the electricity genaration to avoid power shortages,we dont want unneccessary sport praises ,give loans and grants to these key areas then we know you mean well..no unbiblical human rights here!

    • Chinyama we do not need financial aid from anywhere. What we need are politicians who are ready to work for mother Zambia. Even if Zambia gets loans trust me most of the money will end in the politicians bank accounts. They don’t care about electricity cos they have generators.

  4. Indeed this speech is spot on enshrining gay rights and making Zambia a circular nation. Why should we be told what to do by UN’s secretary general? He just came to bribe our parlamenterians to pass the constitution which will provide for gay rights and for removal of Zambia as a Christian nation. This Moon is a dangerous man and Sata must have promised something to these people that is why USA and Europeans have suddenly loved Zambia…..gaysim. We will oppose these evils which these wicked men and women within and without Zambia have determined to put in our constitution as rights. Christians wake up and cry to the LORD our God for intervention before these brute beasts achieve their satanic agenda.

  5. Yes it was also written that the only thing moon should discuss is the state of repatriated refugees that Zambia helped in Maheba and other locations in Zambia. Pay us back our gesture with support for an African security council vote. If not that keep on moving mister secretary general.

  6. Instead of giving an irrelevant speech, he MUST visit the crash site of ex UN general in Ndola. Shame for moon to give a blind eye on such important matter thats covers his own office.

  7. Lets try to be discreet in our debate whether its within ourselves as Zambians or involving foreigners. You can still argue intelligently and effectively without being frivolous, malicious and vulgar. I understand the strong feelings the UN invokes on the hypocris and double standards it has employed on a lot of issues regarding Africa. But we have to use civility in whatever circumstances.
